And long may it continue!. But you bring your laundry down to the communal washing machines, you buy your fish at the fish counter. The big lad swinging past you at the entrance might have Covid D , and he is of course unmasked. They have a documented case from Australia that two adjacent doors opening sequentially at a hotel quarantine facility transferred the virus between the occupants. The occupants were collecting their dinner trays.
You really shouldn't make such rash and untrue assumptions. I do all my laundry within my own flat. There are no big lads swinging past my door and I use the peephole and my ears before I exit to be solitary. If there's people hanging around in the hall or just outside, I use my back door instead to access another point on the pavement outside. And I cook my fish, no sushi for me these days.

You see I really am perfect, it isn't just an illusion. ;)

This morning I tested positive for Covid. I’m waiting for my PCR result, but thankfully I have had my jabs and symptoms are mild. Please make sure you come forward for your vaccine if you haven’t already.

oldgroaner@oldgroaner
Sajid Javid! You're not setting a very good example to the plebs by catching something you tell them to avoid. Resign! you have failed the first test you have set the public. Give the job to somebody competent
Old Power Trousers needs to be careful. Being from an Asian background and all that, a dose of Covid might very well do for him. That would be tragic because Gavin Williamson could take over.

I wonder how it could be that in this country we are told there have been no recorded cases of the Flu this year, none!
Of course not, they've either been put down to Covid or masked by it. Haven't you seen my posts saying that Covid is grossly over recorded?

Reduced yes, because the Covid jabs probably have some protection against 'flu.

But to say there's been no 'flu cases is bunkum, I doubt that is possible, especially given the less favourable weather earlier this year.

My feelings exactly

You'd think that as Health Secretary he'd know better than trust one of his tests!
.
You might have thought he would know better than to flagrantly misuse a test and then blab to the media about it!

The government advice is that lateral flow tests are to be used by the symptomless.

Order coronavirus (COVID-19) rapid lateral flow tests
Use this service to order free packs of rapid lateral flow tests to be sent to your home.
Who this service is for
You can only use this service if:

Yet our Health Secretary saw fit to use one when he had symptoms!
England’s health secretary, Sajid Javid, has tested positive for coronavirus and has mild symptoms, he has said.
In a video posted on Twitter on Saturday, Javid wrote: “This morning I tested positive for Covid. I’m waiting for my PCR result, but thankfully I have had my jabs and symptoms are mild.”
Javid got the positive result from a lateral flow test he took after feeling “a bit groggy” on Friday night. He said he was self-isolating at home with his family.

So as you can see, my Covid risk is miniscule, and that is shared by many millions of others.
so how do you explain:
1. 54,674 tested positive today, 40.6% increase in the last 7 days, while the country is still under numerous restrictions.
2. France with a similar population and restrictions has a tenth of our new cases (< 6,000 daily cases) with less than 5% of that number have the beta variant (South African) and our government puts it on the red list unless it knows for certain that our AZ vaccine is useless against this variant?
I am saying that the risks of catching covid is going to vastly increase. There will be plenty of new 'vectors' to carry the virus into care homes, hospitals, shops, factories etc.

On any ship if the commander becomes insane the ship's doctor can relieve him of command and pass the command to the First officer
But in this country we would have to stop and board the next passing ship and kidnap it's captain in the hope he wasn't just a pirate like our is.

Nothing to do with my safe situation.

The explanation for that 54,674 is simple. Some 19% of those 50 and over have not accepted the vaccines. Some 27 millions of us are 50 and over, so of the 19% refuseniks (5 millions), 1% have caught it. Serve them right, they deserve it. And that is topped up by those who insist on excessive socialising and not protecting.

In other words we've used up those volunteers to get infected, so from now on the rise won't be as great as you fear, simply because the rest of us like you and I are more sensible.

Yes I spotted this earlier. Of course it doesn't affect me and is none of my business, but well done the French. Clearly they dont suffer from the volunters to get infected that we have.

One boffin I heard said the BETA variant is good at dodging the vaccines, poor matching I suppose.

Remember The Caine Mutiny?

Some of Johnson's behaviour is at least as questionable as Queeg's - most of the way through.

Not always. There are quite a number who have possible health reasons not to be vaccinated - but the advice has been poorly delivered to them. In particular, those who reacted badly, or very badly, to a single vaccine have often been left without adequate guidance despite seeking help.

But the phrase that has been heavily pushed is that it is an experimental vaccine (regardless which one we are talking about). My view being that the bigger and more dangerous experiment is to actually get Covid.

It’s a valid point regarding some people being unable to accept the vaccine for medical reasons, but they make up a small fraction of the 5 million flecc referred to earlier.

Just read the Daily Mail ‘s public comments section and the problem will be laid bare. As flecc alluded to earlier, in due course theses people will be consumed by the virus, and once they’ve gone, the stats will look much better. It’s something I’d not considered, but having given the idea some thought, it’s a an attractive outcome.

But the most dangerous experiment of all was voting this government into absolute power

But they are a tiny proportion of that over 5 millions who are the trouble makers.
.
how about the under 18 still in education? they are the reservoir for the virus.
