Indeed don't let facts get in the way, where have i ever said Sweden has defeated the virus?

I've only ever claimed that their policy will produce better results than ours, and it has done.
.
And I have repeatedly pointed out that just about every other developed nation has done as well or better than us, and Sweden failed miserably in comparison the NZ and Japan
Lets look at population densities shall we?

Sweden 57.5 people per square mile 11,405 deaths
NZ 46............................................... 26............
Japan 880 14,971

As I said the facts are not in favour of following the Swedish model if you give a damn about the value of human lives

Within a very short time of the virus arriving in their respective areas, there was a South African variant, an Indian variant, a Brazilian variant, a Kent variant etc.

Yet Sweden has been implementing their voluntary policy for all of last year and this. You say it is a deadly variant producing policy, but how come there is no Swedish variant?

I'll answer that.

It's because their voluntary policy has worked, with them self protecting and accepting the vaccines.

All they have is the Europe wide Delta variant which they are concerned about, urging everyone to grab their jabs ASAP, but, and I quote, "the spread of coronavirus is at a low level in Sweden".

Sorry OG, wrong again, the voluntary approach hasn't caused them a problem, very far from it.
.
You wouldn't get far trying to sell that porky to New Zealand or Japan
And as for trying it here?
Forget it

All totally irrelevant to the issue I was discussing, that Swedens voluntary model did far better than our enforced one, both European countries with far more similarities than differences.

And you are arguing against yourself, Japan and NZ show that population density is not a factor, both doing well with those radically different.

Well it looks like the government has got it's way. With lots of people here working from home the hill outside has been cluttered with cars all the time.

But this morning there's space everywhere, it looks like they've all gone back to work in their workplaces.

BJ & Sunak decided to join the pilot scheme not to isolate despite being pinged.
Actually, none of the ministers say that they will isolate.
Leading by examples so it seems.
But they have essential work to do: mismanaging the government and misleading the public.

That wouldn't surprise me, I remember how you suffered that last year when England loosened the reins but Wales was still under lockdown.
.
Yesterday, had been down to enjoy a bit of sea breeze as the sun set, and the road was quite busy as we came back home. One group of about a dozen cars and campers, only one had a Welsh plate. (Of course, there are lots of non-Welsh plate vehicles owned by residents, but the proportion usually seems to be between one and two thirds Welsh plates.)

We have an awful lot of visitors.

I think the following is typical of our inability to use common sense.

Wembley was supposed to run at 80% Capacity, the same at Wimbledon. Presumably, this was intended to create space between people.

At Wembley, they stopped access to a 20% of the seats, in a block. Therefore, the 80% capacity crowd were accommodated at 100% crowd density.

At Wimbledon, they didn’t block of any seats, they just let in 80% of a full crowd. They all sat together as close to the front row as possible at 100% density, leaving a 20% space at the back.

Although I have not checked the stats myself I have heard several reports that the infection rate in Scotland which was at one time some of the highest in Europe has leveled off and is now starting to come down. If this is the case then does that hold out some hope that the rest of the UK will also start to level off and come down over the next few weeks.

Or will the easing of most lockdown measures mean the case rate will continue to increase right into the autumn?

I reckon case rate will hover around 60,000 a day until September then increase toward 200,000 a day around Christmas.
