And an Englishman invented the kilt. :p

LINK
.
He Only invented the mini kilt, the great kilt been in use for centuries I tried one on once, it's best described as being smothered in a frame tent , it would have come in handy to cover the car and keep the weather off it . How anyone ever wore it it on an everyday basis is a total mystery.o_O

Good.. Then both we and the EU are of one mind. Scotland starts off with the advantage that it has enormous fishing grounds, ..which the EU will be happy to engage with, then sell what remains of North Sea Oil at a good price, and of course their Hydropower. .. How is England self sufficient in water?. Scotland would not be required to pay for the nuclear weapons infrastructure off Glasgow. You see an independent Scotland would need EU support for a while, as they eventually develop their self confidence. But develop it they will. Remember, the majority of Financial Institutions in the UK were of Scottish invention, The Industrial Revolution in Great Britain was a child of Scottish enterprise.
Don't underestimate the Scots ..its not all jam and the Dandy.
Some fish:D

They’ll end up like Ireland, on the German teat. The EU might put up with that in exchange for gaining some more land. Then again....

Scotland is a fine nation. They deserve better than the TSIW.

It's Welsh rain and we kindly let some of it pass over and fall on England.
Nope!. Its Irish rain. Manufactured by leprechauns out in the Atlantic. We keep the really fresh stuff in Kerry and on the West Coast , and only the dregs make it across to Snowdonia.
..true story,. We were running a seminar here in Dundalk with colleagues from the College in Galway in a stormy day. Their attitude was it was just so interesting and new . They never knew rain fell vertically..

That's nothing: on a windy day on the Yorkshire Moors the rain falls up the hillsides!

Some - yes, but lots comes off the Atlantic without crossing Ireland. At least, down on the bottom left corner.

This article discusses the energy required to mine for Bitcoin. Some of you have a really good knowledge of computing, what would happen if a company finally builds an all singing and dancing quantum computer. Would that computer then be able to mine all the bitcoins that are left?
How Bitcoin's vast energy use could burst its bubble - BBC News
I'd have thought that even if suitable quantum computers became available today, it would take quite some time before even a majority of bitcoin mining could transfer to them. And, whilst seemingly powerful in computing terms, I have no idea of their energy usage.

Scotland is indeed a fine nation, but like so many it can be very self destructive at times.

Just look at the current Salmond/ Sturgeon row, the worst possible timing at such a crucial stage in Scotland's future.

And many might see the act of union was self destructive.

I’m enjoying the Salmon / Sturgeon battling fish circus. I’m hoping they will destroy each other.

Salmond's calm and measured evidence giving was a winning performance, he remains a very capable politician. I doubt Sturgeon will be able to match it any way.

But the Scottish public don't seem to be taking any notice of the spat since the SNP's support is stronger than ever. Even many of those previously opposed to independence are backing the SNP over governance by Boris Johnson and co, hardly surprising I suppose.

it's a non-story though.
Salmond said nothing new. Whether Surgeon knew about the allegations on the 29th March or 02nd April, or the contents of the meeting were recorded or not, did it have any bearing on the complaints and the outcome of Salmond Court case?
Salmond is a capable politician alright, but he appeared to me mean and fundamentally jealous and vindictive of his former apprentice.

I view this as understandable though, given the seriousness of the false allegations against him and Sturgeon's willingness, even eagerness, to accept that it was all true.
