That is not apparently what your SC ruled. .. What it merely said ,the Home Sec. Is not obligated to bring her to a safe place from which to make her appeal. So her situation remains in legal limbo. They make no judgement on the legality or morality of her case.
Agreed, that was our Home Office's decision. But like it or not, the Supreme Court ruling supports that position in practice, as does the position of the majority of the British public surveyed.

Ahh, protectionism. Ironic, coming from a brexit voting tory (what on earth happened to free trade?). Also (my dear short sighted boris thrusting friend) the difference between, say, north and South Korea. Guess who we are emulating?
"Boris thrusting"?
How short sighted is it possible to be? :D

On that subject, the organisation that owns the rights to Mr Potato Head and Mrs Potato Head have announced that the are changing their image to gender neutral.

They say that old gender identity is too restrictive to reflect today's realities.

Truly the world has gone completely mad.

I had never known there was a Mrs version!

The court has ruled that her rights have not been breached. The court has placed U.K. national security ahead of other considerations.

She ain’t comin’ back. That’s the only thing that matters. It sends out a powerful message which may save others from perusing a similar lifestyle to the one she chose.

If Scotland chooses to split from the UK, I would expect that any U.K. government investment in new manufacturing or infrastructure would remain in theU.K. I think they’ll pull the military and associated civilian jobs out too. No more cash sent north either. It’s starting to sound attractive from this end.

Be interesting to consider what would happen to a Stranraer tunnel - especially if half-dug.

There will be slight problems of course, little details like find a new base for the Trident Missile submarines for example, unless of course the Scots keep them...
That would be fun, wouldn't it?
Just how would we stop them doing that?
A Nuclear power to the North , EU to the South and no doubt the Welsh would be wanting to break away too!
:D

Good.. Then both we and the EU are of one mind. Scotland starts off with the advantage that it has enormous fishing grounds, ..which the EU will be happy to engage with, then sell what remains of North Sea Oil at a good price, and of course their Hydropower. .. How is England self sufficient in water?. Scotland would not be required to pay for the nuclear weapons infrastructure off Glasgow. You see an independent Scotland would need EU support for a while, as they eventually develop their self confidence. But develop it they will. Remember, the majority of Financial Institutions in the UK were of Scottish invention, The Industrial Revolution in Great Britain was a child of Scottish enterprise.
Don't underestimate the Scots ..its not all jam and the Dandy.

This is an interesting idea

Forget the idea of investment, they stopped that after the Attlee government
What we do now if bribe foreign companies to open factories because we lack the balls to do it ourselves.
And with the small market we now have we have to rely on one of two things

Entice a company to come in the full knowledge that before long they will do what all blackmailers do (and of course the DUP) and demand a bigger bung

Find an alternative financial swindle to replace the London betting shop and house of negotiable affection

There are so many UK infrastructure projects that don't involve foreign investment, foreign material suppliers, or foreign contractors, that I can't think of any. Scotland leaving the Union won't change that.
As regards defence, of course UK defence jobs would go, an independent Scotland would require its own defence force which should cost around £1bn per annum, similar to Ireland, and not the £3.5bn currently charged to Scotland by the UK.
There won't be any cash heading south for the treasury to send back north.
Whether some cash heads north will all depend on what rUK intends to do with its nuclear toys in the Gairloch and rotting obsolete nuclear subs in Rosyth.
Anyway, the timing is wrong, HS2 will be built before Scotland leaves the Union, look how long Brexit took and it's not even sorted yet.
