The most expensive Christmas present ever

And of course the Tory fans will claim that the people are to blame, they would carry on with Christmas as usual anyway.
The problem with that is it didn't work out that way in the EU from the figures
Now how can that be?

I note that O'Toole in todays Irish Times has picked up a theme I introduced some months ago. Ireland had achieved Full suppression of the virus in June July and then snatched failure from the jaws of victory.,by not starting a credible quarantine. Evidence proves that the first wave of Italian derived virus was defeated, and the second wave was due to a Spanish derived virus, imported via the UK, by poor or pretence quarantine in Irish ports in late summer. It is something I noticed, ...I filled up the forms for quarantine in August, and there was zero check in the next fortnight.

Salmond's calm and measured evidence giving was a winning performance, he remains a very capable politician. I doubt Sturgeon will be able to match it any way.

But the Scottish public don't seem to be taking any notice of the spat since the SNP's support is stronger than ever. Even many of those previously opposed to independence are backing the SNP over governance by Boris Johnson and co, hardly surprising I suppose.
.
I agree, Johnson is a gift to the SNP. I still hope TSIW is destroyed by events though.

Concerns grow as UK Covid testing labs scaled back before even opening
Planned multi-million Lighthouse facilities cut by up to 50%, with smaller labs decommissioned
New Lighthouse labs, created by the government to boost the nation’s Covid testing capacity, are to be dramatically scaled back before they open. It is understood that new multi-million pound labs in Gateshead and Plymouth, announced last year but yet to open, are among those to see a big cut in daily testing by as much as 50% compared with original plans.

Some smaller labs will be decommissioned and others will not have their contracts renewed this spring as part of the overhaul, with officials citing new technology and the changing pressures of the pandemic as factors behind a rethink. The changes are likely to reignite the debate over the use of public money by the £22bn NHS test and trace programme.

That headline needs saving and replaying. Fortunately, the experts won and only 60000 civilians were killed. That figure would have been a lot higher had Boris been victorious in his battle with the experts.

Boris battles experts to save Christmas. It’s unbelievable. In normal times, that would have ended a Prime Minister. There is absolutely no one holding him to account. He will get away with his deadly blunder.

It is, of course, but a blip compared to his brexit blunder the tory party and 18 million voters are not holding him to account for. The word irony seems somehow inadequate.

Boris Johnson is a one world government puppet
puppet, yes - one world probably not. like the parliamentary tory party, he's a kind of thick expedient slapper/gob on a stick that goes for the highest bid (whoever it comes from on any given day)

The single vaccine shot strategy is really off paying off now. After one dose, the AZ vaccine is proving to be slightly more effective at preventing hospitalisation than the PB vaccine. AZ is around 94% effective and PB around 85% effective against hospitalisation. That’s according to a study by Public Health Scotland. Both figures are fantastic.

Germany is currently struggling with its third wave of Covid yet they are sat on a stock of AZ vaccine they are refusing to use. They’ve only protected their citizens with less than 300000 doses of AZ. Appalling.

The problem they now face is that out of political spite, the leadership in the EU has publicly and clearly rubbished the AZ vaccine’s reputation. This is most likely because the AZ vaccine has the UKs fingerprints on it and they don’t want to be seen as reliant on, or giving credit to the U.K.

I think the EUs childish behaviour will have an adverse affect on vaccine uptake, particularly with the AZ vaccine. This is going to slow the already dismal vaccination programme administered in the EU. Silly people.
