Businesses should brace for 'significant border disruption' as France orders ports crackdown
It came as retailers, couriers, fishing bodies and logistics firms warned they had been hit by a 'perfect storm'

How dare those Johnny Foreigners enforce the rules that we agreed to?
Didn't someone read the small print again?
If they were rules we wanted them to enforce, and they were soft on them, the DT would be shouting about that.

The Daily Fail report today that Fat Arse Patel is to seize power from woke PCC police chiefs.

When I’d finished laughing, I thought about that headline and it’s actually quite dangerous. Government to seize control of the police and use the word “woke” to excite the excitable. It worked too, the reader’s comments were all for it.

What the article didn’t draw people’s attention to was the fact that it was the Conservatives who introduced PCCs, very much against advice from every corner of the land.

The election of the PCC in the area I used to live was the only time I positively spoiled the ballot paper. The choice was neither here nor there - can't remember who. But I did not wish to go down as a CBA non-voter.

Adding:

As a result of last year’s postponements, this year will see elections for local councils, 13 directly elected mayors and 40 police and crime commissioners in England and Wales. Elections will also be held for London mayor and assembly, as well as the Welsh and Scottish parliaments.

So this FAP statement is in the run up to 40 PCC elections. The context makes a difference, methinks. (It had gone right past me that this was happening.)

??? If there is significant disruption the traffic flows won't be able to return to normal. If the traffic flows are normal, it undermines that there will be significant disruption.
He is talking about the 'new normal', which is significant disruption.

Starmer is on Marr right now, completing the destruction of the Labour party and merging it with the Conservatives.
Millions of us are now facing living in a one party state devoted to Brexit.
There have been some really bad decisions, he has made the mother of them all.

Germany goes alone and orders 30 million vaccines.???
Don't you like the idea Germany is a Sovereign nation for some reason? How very odd
By the way, she doesn't have the authority to "order" them

Is it dangerous to be outside? I’m just wondering why there is a big push to fine people for being outdoors. Just what are the outdoors risks.

I would have thought policing masks and behaviours inside supermarkets and on public transport would be a better use of resources.

We find it immensely frustrating that we are supposed not to drive, at all, in going for exercise.

The walk round the block, while very pleasant in many ways, does tend to get a bit boring. It is also hard for partner - some days more than others - due to distance and hilliness.

Seems somehow wrong to preclude driving to the nearest flat walk for the sake of her health. Or even a bit further. We are not exactly crowded here.

A way of Hungary saying it wants to push to the front of the queue.
With us or without us there is a lesson for massive organisations to learn. Smaller networks can react faster, the mere mechanics of getting 27 countries together takes time. Some issues, like this one, require quick decisions. EU seems incapable of doing so..
Odd how OG now supports Germany going alone?? What happened to the collegiate approach? Its OK for countries to ignore EU requests now is it??
Think you are cherry picking OG.
Imagine how we, d feel if a Vaccine almost totally developed in UK was rolled out in Germany first.??? I suppose EU membership comes with a cost. The vote was about whether the cost was worth paying.
Proof is in the pudding. More vaccinations in UK than EU combined.

We, ve tried to read rules. It seems as far as
we can ascertain you are supposed to stay within your own Local Health Authority. So if you happen to live in a massive one, you can drive??
We were wondering if a drive to coast is acceptable for windsurfing. (form of exercise, not available on lakes this time of year) But came to conclusion. No it isn't.
So driving on my own, sailing on my own, not seeing any one... is not allowed.. Yet mates on street go out biking in pairs perfectly OK.??
But there are bound to be anomalies. So be it. Wait till summer.
Oh, and, neighbour teaches at local school. My gkids are off and at home from same school but school is running at between 50 and 70 % attendence.??? (we have more key workers than last lockdown apparently anyone can claim key worker status on religious grounds, parents are not questioned if religion is mentioned???)
What's going on with that one.?
Must be a lot of newly ordained vicars in Rotherham. About time too.

Ours say must stay at home - with very limited exceptions.

Windsurfing not allowed unless you live within walking distance.

Agreed, ours does. But the contentious issue is the hours daily exercise, for which you can drive to place of exercise???

No - we can exercise for unrestricted time. But not drive to the place. Must be out of your front door straight into exercise - even if that is walk, doing the main part of your exercise, walk back.

As usual you miss the point
The EU does not control member nations actions, it never had that power, it can only help and advise.
As to not being able to make quick decisions? are you serious? ye gods are you actually saying we make them quicker here?
EU membership costs were a fraction of the benefits.
As to More vaccinations here in UK than EU
Based on all previous government boasts you need to put
"claimed" before the statement
By the way this is from the EU

"
How will logistics work? How will vaccines be distributed?

Logistics and transportation is a key aspect on which all Member States have to work, as emphasised in the Communication on preparedness for COVID-19 vaccination strategies and vaccine deployment of 15 October.

Delivery to national distribution hub(s) will be ensured by the manufacturers.

Further distribution to vaccination centres will be ensured by Member States, who will also be responsible for the vaccination of their population.
