The recorded death rate has been flat since 21st October. That's if you use the basic actual deaths per day supposedly related to Covid-19 instead of the derived and adjusted ones. In other words, what little spike there was, was all over long before the lock-down.
refused to see a patient today who insisted on being seen face to face but refused to take any precautions as part of exercising his right to deny that covid is real. So he is left without adequate care. It's called having capacity (to make decisions and live with the consequences) in the nhs.

the ONS says Covid is adding 11% to seasonal deaths and that percentage is increasing for may be another week before the tier system and lockdown start to bring the reproduction number down.
Covid should be treated like terrorists. What would you do if terrorists kill already 60,000 people?

If your manner on here is anything to go by your patient had a damn lucky escape today.

Having said that, shouldn't the people who are making the decisions be in possession of the facts? Otherwise, on what basis do they make decisions? Or is that ante nuntium flumen est falsum where finger in the air is as good as science?
You raise some good questions. As a general rule, you can get the facts from the Guardian by reading it, then turning anything they say the opposite way round to get the truth.

The people making the decisions may well be in possession of the facts, but they always have their own agenda. They will go with their agenda regardless of what facts say they should do, and they'll spin the facts into whatever story helps justify the decisions that they make. They often look stupid, but they're not. It's you who's stupid believing that they make their decisions with good intentions for you. Why would they?

Already, the graphs that they tried to bamboozle us with have been analysed and shown to be bunk, like we all expected. I know from my long history of very successful problem solving in industry that when people try to justify something in any complicated way, they're putting up a smoke screen to hide the truth, which is normally something very simple. when I was a consultant, I used to train people to look out for that technique.

The Guardian just reprint other people's data and put their spin on them.
You could say the same about the DM or the Express.
but which graphs though?
from the ONS or from No10 or from Matt Hancock?

It isn't just the Guardian which reported that.

inews (and elsewhere) also had this about Jenrick:

Housing Secretary Robert Jenrick had an uncomfortable spell during a Sky News interview on Tuesday when he was confronted with clips of ministers, including himself, strongly advocating against a second lockdown just a week before it was announced.

I can't remember all the details other than it was the ones they showed in their big press conference/announcement thingamajig. One of the graphs had coloured bands over it showing how hospital beds were filling up, but it wasn't for all hospitals. When you you look at the same graph for all hospitals, it was mainly white. White being the colour for the hospitals that had no covid patients admitted.

This wasn't what I saw, but I think it's the same ideas:

I wasn't referring to anything specific. I was just saying that the truth is always the opposite of what you read in the Guardian.

Hospitals are filling up with covid cases (theres nothing like first hand information, I spent most of today in one). Its ok to try to wind up informed types who dont take one seriously on a thread like this. But the point of my earlier post was that deliberate misinformation in this case literally cost lives. Its tantamount to manslaughter.

you take No 10 presentation to make a point. They are as you said, made to fit their agenda.

They are just models but take the Imperial College model (the magenta plot).
It's still the same as it was back in February.
Their prediction is the winter wave is roughly twice as big and twice as wide as the last wave. We could see about 200,000 Covid deaths without a lockdown.

Don't worry everyone, you'll still be able to get beer...

English pubs will be able to sell takeaway beer during this month’s lockdown, as long as its pre-ordered by phone or online, in a government U-turn after fears that more than 7m pints of alcohol would have to be poured away.

That's going to work even better than boris' meal deal for controlling the crowds..but will make a change from protein bars after a ride

Trump wins Florida but is going to lose N. Carolina and Georgia.
Biden will be president elect in a few hours.

I have a feeling in my water that Trump is going to pull this off. Once again, the polls have failed to acknowledge that people feel bullied into not admitting that they are going to vote for Trump.
