I see you are assuming the latest suspect is black.

If you look at my previous post and its P.S., you'll see the earlier killer of a police sergeant here was white and the latest one might still be too.

In fact almost all police officers killed or very seriously injured have suffered that at the hands of White men, even the most recent ones.
.
I don’t know if he was black either. The anti-searching and unnecessary use of force (handcuffs) is making officers apprehensive about searching and cuffing. They shouldn’t be, it should be routine.

the BBC report says that the suspect was arrested by two special constables. For some reason, he was not searched before nor handcuffed when transferred to the secure suite.

An officer has been shot dead for Christ sake. A man just going to work to do his job and not coming home. What’s the **** is wrong with you?
There is nothing wrong with me, my reporting this arose from my concern for my best friend in this estate, a Met police officer just married last year with a baby daughter born a few weeks ago. I couldn't imagine how his wife, who I know well, must be feeling at this news.

But I'm a realist who knows the police will put the best possible light on the circumstances, as I'd expect them to, which in response to Woosh I commented will prevent us ever knowing the whole picture.

Not unarmed. The woman who was shot at the incident which triggered this latest unjustified violence was with a man who had a gun and he was shooting at police officers. She got caught in the crossfire. Do what the policeman says, don’t shoot at the police and don’t hang around with gunmen and all will be well. Totally self inflicted and correct decision to release the officers. They should go in with a machine gun next time.

I don’t know any details, but it wouldn’t surprise me if this Croydon shooting stems from officers now being too scared to search and cuff suspects, brought about by all this BLAME and BLM crap. BLM needs to be crushed and to become a banned movement. It’s just using something which doesn’t exist as cover for criminal activity.
It helps if you identify the 1. Country ,the name etc of the incident. There are so many in tge USA it is impossible to follow any narrative without identication

We locally had a similar situation a few years ago. A young woman requested assistance from a local Garda. I did not know him at all, but he was apparently very well liked, .. sportsman, community policing etc. She wanted assistance in collecting her clothes and removing herself from an abusive relationship. They assumed he was not present, but he did appear, he had a modified replica firearm, which worked and shot the Garda multiple times . The woman was uninjured.
The size of the funeral in our local church and the Garda Solidarity presence was both frightening and reassuring .. simultaneously .. video can be seen on YouTube as Garda Golden

All he had to do was follow the policeman’s instructions. He killed the woman, not the police.
If this is the episode you are referring to......
Breonna Taylor, a 26-year-old woman, was fatally shot by Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD) officers Jonathan Mattingly, Brett Hankison, and Myles Cosgrove on March 13, 2020. The officers entered her apartment in Louisville, Kentucky, executing a search warrant. The officers knocked before forcing entry, but how the officers announced their identity before forcing entry is in dispute. Taylor's boyfriend, Kenneth Walker, fired a gun at the officers he believed to be intruders, who fired over 20 shots in turn. Taylor was shot six times in the hallway of her apartment,[2][3][4][5] and Mattingly was injured by gunfire.[6]

Hankison was fired by the LMPD on June 23, 2020. On September 15, the city of Louisville agreed to pay Taylor's family $12 million and reform police practices.[7] On September 23, a state grand jury indicted Hankison not for Taylor's death, but on three counts of wanton endangerment for endangering a neighbor with his shots. The two other officers involved in the raid were not indicted.[8]

Taylor's death and the non-indictment of the police officers for it led to protests across the United States.[9]

Two lessons.

1) Behave so the police don’t need to come knocking.

2) If they do come knocking, don’t get a gun and try to shoot the policeman.

They have burnt the cop and thrown some cash at the guilty to keep a lid on the BLM crowd.

the lessons are for the improvement of US police conduct.
It's clear to me that it is a case of police SNAFU.

Investigations and legal proceedings
Autopsy and death certificate
Taylor's death certificate notes that an autopsy was performed and a manner of death was determined. It lists her manner of death as homicide. The death certificate also notes that she received five gunshot wounds to the body. The coroner denied The Courier-Journal's request for a copy of the autopsy. The newspaper was appealing to the attorney general's office as of July 17, 2020.[29]

Investigations into the three police officers
The police filed an incident report that claimed that Taylor had no injuries and that no forced entry occurred. The police department said that technical errors led to a nearly entirely blank malformed report.[30]

All three officers involved in the shooting were placed on administrative reassignment pending the outcome of an investigation[26] by the police department's internal Professional Integrity Unit.[13] On May 20, 2020, the investigation's findings were given to Daniel Cameron, Attorney General of Kentucky, to determine whether any officer should be criminally charged. Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer also asked the FBI and U.S. Attorney's Office to review the findings.[13] The FBI is also conducting its own independent investigation,[13] announced by the Bureau's Louisville field office on May 21.[31]

In early June, Fischer called for Officer Hankison to be removed from the Louisville Police Merit Board, which reviews appeals from police offices in departmental disciplinary matters.[32] Hankison was one of five members of the board, which consists of three civilians and two police officers selected by the River City Fraternal Order of Police.[32] On June 19, three months after Taylor's killing, Louisville Metro Police interim chief Robert Schroeder sent Hankison a letter notifying him that Schroeder had begun termination proceedings against him.[33][34] The letter accused Hankison of violating departmental policies on the use of deadly force by "wantonly and blindly" firing into Taylor's apartment without determining whether any person presented "an immediate threat" or whether there were "any innocent persons present."[33] The letter also cited past disciplinary action taken against Hankison by the department, including for reckless conduct.[35] Hankison was formally fired four days later (June 23); he had ten days (until July 3) to appeal his termination to the Louisville Police Merit Board.[36] That appeal was delayed until the criminal investigation is finished.[37]

On September 23, 2020, a state grand jury indicted Hankison on three counts of wanton endangerment for endangering a neighboring family of three when shots he fired penetrated the walls and tore into their apartment. Neither Hankison nor the two other officers involved in the raid were indicted for Taylor's death.[38][8] Conviction could include a sentence of up to five years in prison and a fine for each count. Cameron said the FBI investigation was still ongoing.[39]

This reminds me of the Texas Sheriff at an inquest

Coroner
How come there are 47 bullet holes in the Body?

Sheriff
I ran out of ammunition

Coroner
Why have you reported death by Natural Causes?

Sheriff

Well if you have 47 bullet holes in your body naturally you die!

Quite right too. This was a case of attempted murder of a police officer. They came under fire whilst going about their lawful duty. Thankfully they were able to outgun the criminals.

The police acted entirely appropriately. They came under fire whilst carrying out their duty. They shot back and ended the threat before one of them was killed. No one would have been killed had the criminal not opened fire first.

I think you are going through one of your funny phases again

Putting five shots into an innocent individual that is unarmed, and you applaud them?
Sorry but you are really going into some sort of right wing madness The police remit does not include shooting to kill

So in your view killing a bystander is just collateral damage.?

I’ll answer both of your posts. The police officers didn’t arrive at work that morning and think, I know, let’s go out and kill someone.

They went to carry out a lawful warrant. They then came under gunfire and shot back, killing an innocent person who got in the way. It was the person shooting at the police to begin with that started the chain of events which ended with the innocent woman getting shot. The bloke firing at the police caused her death. The cops aren’t just going to stand there and let someone take shots until he hits one of them. They need to get a bullet through his face before he kills one of them. Unfortunately on this occasion, that woman on Lewis Hamilton’s T shirt got shot. Sad but the man who shot first caused her death. It needn’t have been that way.

Barry ..in this case you have not only got thewrong end of the stick, but keep stirring as the nasty smell keeps rising.
1. That woman was an ER .. that's A&E technician in US Speak ...otherwise known as a Hero in Covaid speak.
2. The police were at the WRONG ADDRESS acting on WRONG Information with their warrant
3. It is unclear whether they bothered to call and identify themselves . The warrant had originally allowed them make unannounced entry.
4. The extra points that Woosh identifies indicates conspiracy after the fact.
That she was also Black adds petrol to an incinary situation.

The only point I can agree with you on is that the presence of guns in the hands of both parties turned an ugly situation into a disaster
