I've been expecting this to happen. It happened in USA a few weeks ago, Trump used some kind of presidential power he has to stop the meat processing plants from closing when they wanted to. Germany too is starting to have problems in these types of facilities there was a story on Bloomberg TV about it this morning.Govt. should have used Angelsey (or Downing St ) instead of isle of Wight for track & trace app testing

That would make far more sense since so many do not use smartphones.
OFCOM make a stupid guesstimate that only 3% don't own a smartphone, appearing to rely on an old figure of 78.5 million registered phones in 2014, some 15 million more than there were men, women and children of any age in the country!
A more rational figure at last year suggests that 79% use a smartphone, so over a fifth of the of the country not using one and not accessible to an app.

I'm of mixed heritage. But in part affluent. I suspect, like me, you have a hunch where some of it went? The subsidised health and social services in an affluent country in a privileged global trade position, the semi subsidised tertiary education (at least in my days). Its a world away from being a descendant of slaves in some parts of the ex colonies.
