I'm of mixed heritage. But in part affluent. I suspect, like me, you have a hunch where some of it went? The subsidised health and social services in an affluent country in a privileged global trade position, the semi subsidised tertiary education (at least in my days). Its a world away from being a descendant of slaves in some parts of the ex colonies.
This family history thing is a fascinating subject when you get into it. My partner had a distant relative who owned a fruit & veg shop in pudding lane London when the bakers caught fire and caused a problem.
As for my lot and all their wealth ... well who knows who eventually grabbed it, governments I expect.

How about telling us about your view and what informs it, rather than what you hope racist biker gangs will do, or what you think we should do?
I don't hope that any biker gangs do anything. Where did you get that from? I'm only presenting the news story. It's posted on Facebook Events:

I ask again, are you going to denounce the Guardian and petition for it to be closed down because of its support for slavery? Or are you too scared to answer?

What I want to know is can I buy a slave to help me up off of one knee I keep getting down on.

Hey vfr would you believe I have never, and I mean never ever purchased a newspaper in my whole life ... absolutely true. The reason for that(apart from being frugal) is that I firmly believe all newspapers tell lies, even the best of them. It follows then If I cant believe what they are printing I may as well make up my own stories and live in fantasy land.

Did you read flecc's post about the guardian? Or was it too awkward to read something that doesnt support your narrative? Who appointed you to the Spanish inquisition? I don't buy into other people's dichotomies.

Well, how far up their backs did their arms have to go?

Reacting to the UK CMO’s decision to lower the UK’s alert level from Level 4 to Level 3 Health Secretary Matt Hancock said:
“The UK moving to a lower alert level is a big moment for the country, and a real testament to the British people’s determination to beat this virus.
“The government’s plan is working. Infection rates are rapidly falling, we have protected the NHS and, thanks to the hard work of millions in our health and social care services, we are getting the country back on her feet.”

"... is working"? Must be joking.

Those guys are all multi-millionaires now. The first time I met them was as the Kent Custom Show, which was about 100 bikers in a field. It cost £1 to get in. Their bikes were pretty similar to what's shown in the film. The last time I went to that show was in the late '80s at the County Show ground, where they had bungee jumping , VR pods, top bands playing and thousands of visitors. I watched as them come into the show in their custom Range Rovers towing trailers with top of the range customised Harley Davidsons. Since then, their business has grown and grown. It's nice to see guys realising their dream.

The petition has over 20,000 signatures now. Why are you afraid to answer my question?

Anyone heard of this stuff ...

No - had not heard of it, but...

Many years ago, there was a product which was intended for use in hospitals. Dilute a red liquid with water and spray on all surfaces (walls, ceilings, floors, beds, furniture) in a room which had been occupied by someone with a nasty bug. Kills everything. Quick and easy.

Trouble was, when they looked further, some bugs were colonising on it and seemed to thrive.

Also, triclosan was promoted as something to be incorporated into everything under the sun - chopping boards, knife handles, etc. - heavily promoted by J Sainsbury who identified that they used it behind the counter as well as selling products containing it. Trouble was, it has many unwatned effects. Including being an endocrine disruptor.

This new stuff could be brilliant, but please excuse me while I await definitive information on its effectiveness and safety.

I wonder whether he is referring to
Plan A:
Kill off the Vulnerable to save the economy
Plan B:
make do with killing 50, 000 or so before giving up and wrecking the economy by making the lockdown last far longer than it would have needed to if applied sooner?
Plan C:
Fiddle the number from 4 to 3 to to end the lockdown and wait for the second wave to kill off the surviving elderly?

We certainly seem to easily be at level 3 or below in London, the daily deaths very low now.

On the last full day (Wednesday) for example, we had 2 deaths in hospitals of people tested as positive and 1 death not tested but Covid mentioned on the death certificate. So 3 out of 10.2 million, one sixth of the country.

That will rise as delayed numbers come in and our Covid hospital deaths are 74% of all Covid deaths so that 3 on Wednesday will rise to about 5, an extremely low number.
