Anyone heard of this stuff ...
A new type of disinfectant could help bring down COVID-19 infections, and combat future diseases. Researchers from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) have developed a disinfectant that can protect surfaces for up to 90 days.

No - had not heard of it, but...
Many years ago, there was a product which was intended for use in hospitals. Dilute a red liquid with water and spray on all surfaces (walls, ceilings, floors, beds, furniture) in a room which had been occupied by someone with a nasty bug. Kills everything. Quick and easy.
Trouble was, when they looked further, some bugs were colonising on it and seemed to thrive.
Also, triclosan was promoted as something to be incorporated into everything under the sun - chopping boards, knife handles, etc. - heavily promoted by J Sainsbury who identified that they used it behind the counter as well as selling products containing it. Trouble was, it has many unwatned effects. Including being an endocrine disruptor.

This new stuff could be brilliant, but please excuse me while I await definitive information on its effectiveness and safety.
