Are you saying that slavery and black lives don't matter? If the twitterati or leftwaffe hear that, your business will be toast. If you don't specifically denounce these things, you're deemed to be a supporter.
I can see why you might frame this in terms of populist intimidation. Its the right wing trump boris brexit playbook. A bit like screaming lock her up. Or that anyone who doesn't support brexit is unpatriotic. It smacks of the brown shirts and astnishingly seem to work as well in
apparently educated 21st century as 1930s. Its morbidly fascinating to see how many people trump and boris kill, and to wonder how much it will take to penetrate public consciousness and make voters think.

In good time for the second wave... to be fading and us awaiting a third wave?

Lord Bethell, the health minister responsible for the coronavirus testing programme, told the Commons science committee today that the contact-tracing app being trialed in the Isle of Wight might not be rolled out nationwide until the winter, Sky’s Rowland Manthorpe reports.

that reminds me of an episode on BBC2 Newsnight. Maitlis was interviewing Andrea Leadsom who suggested just that. Maitlis saw red and I wouldn't blame her.

Have you seen the petition to close down the Guardian? The Guardian was founded with money from exploitation of slaves working in the cotton industry and they supported the confederate army to keep slavery going. They're a bunch of imperialistic, white-priveliged, hypocritical bar stewards. Who's going to sign it?
New York was built by slaves, let's shut that down for starters and work our way down.

Are you going to denounce the Guardian and petition for it to be closed down because of its support for slavery?

I'm not. Any support for slavery would have been when the Guardian, a local Manchester paper was owned by its 1821 founder, John Edward Taylor. He has no statue so nothing to pull down and chuck into the ship canal.

The editor from 1872, long after slavery, was C P Scott (born 1846), who bought the paper from Taylor's son in 1907 and changed it into the national paper it is today.

Slavery was abolished in the British Empire in 1833, so today's Guardian and its national paper founder have no connection whatsoever with slavery.

vfr makes us to question ourselves now and then when he comes to visit.
It's not a bad thing, and thanks to flecc for putting the issues raised by vfr into context in a rational way.
Pehaps flecc could post his witty responses on the daily Mail and the Express.

Doesn't work for me, vfr's absence makes the heart grow fonder

Since the success of this nation was to a large degree historically based on profit from slavery and therefore every one of us (using vfr's powers of association) is an accessory after the fact of benefiting from that evil trade.
Perhaps in the absence of a statue of himself, and as an act of contrition, he would care to set an example by chucking himself into the nearest Harbour?

For a mere $9.95 you can enjot Tim Tams right now on Amazon!

And here's is a review
1.0 out of 5 stars rubbish all around

Flavor Name: whiteVerified Purchase
firstly the ingredients are erroneous. this company uses hydrogenated vegetable oil, which is very bad for you. and second the taste is terrible, it's so dry and flavourless.. it's basically a white chocolate penguin but tastes nothing like a penguin, and the texture is rubbish. I would say a penguin chocolate bar is 10x better and 10x cheaper!

Hmm!

Although I'm prepared to challenge individual bigotry, I fear that challenges against organisations like the Mail and Express which exist to promote bigotry merely serve to strengthen them. The more who ignore them, the weaker they become.

It's how we dealt with racism in London. As little as fifty years ago London was still very racist, but in that short space of time we've made it increasingly uncomfortable for the few remaining who are stubbornly racist to express their unacceptable views.

Today in London we are multi-racial with all of us minorities, even the white British, and quite possibly the most racially tolerant major city on earth.

I doubt the Mail and Express are happy with their London circulations.

Don't let good ideas like that spread around or Trump will get in first
He's certainly got plenty of dirty washing that needs cleaning somewhere. I don't think America is great enough for that mammoth task.

Just think, and imagine if we all sent our washing to Australia, and they sent their washing to us. The impact on trade figures would be phenomenal.
We could send it in the red, white, and blue Voyager aircraft.
I suppose it'll be another million pounds to return it to its RAF colour when it's needed as a tanker.
Even the Orange Moron hasn't suggested putting a Stars n' Stripes theme on the KC 135s.
