The point is, a U.K. captain would not have attempted to take off with that level of fuel on board. There is no need to fill the tanks that much, it’s pointless. A U.K. captain would have known that he was exceeding max all up weight and would have faced an investigation for doing so. Better to either face a bit of embarrassment and have some taken out rather than bust the weight limit on take off.
See my posts just above, not the overload you suggested and with no effect on a normal takeoff. What happened could just as easily happened to us, there was nothing uniquely French about it. The link below details a number of Concorde incidents to British made ones, including a fuel leak fire and burst tyres.

It was only bad luck that made it happen to an Air France plane and good luck that it wasn't us. In fact with only 14 entering service, Concorde has the worst accident incident record of any jet airliner, so it was always bound to happen in the end.

This ignores the fact that what happened in the referendum was nothing to do with the EU.
The fact remains Russia needs to be guarded against, and these idiot Brexit limited company MEPs should be onside with the EU on this, unless they have something to hide.

Who in their right mind opposes such a motion without causing concern about their motives for doing so?

EASA devolve regulation to the National Authority, in our case the CAA. I don’t know what the French do, but if a U.K. captain had over fuelled the aircraft, it would be picked up in the Tech Log. Plus there is no way to disguise it. The mass of fuel in the tanks is stored in the flight data system and downloaded and checked during service intervals. If the Tech Log had been falsified, the the download would give it away, compounding the issues for the captain.
Overfilling, in the U.K. would certainly generate an MOR (Mandatory Occurrence Report) and trigger an investigation. The French National Authority may not have such a system, in which case overfilling could have become an unofficial common practice. MORs are designed to stop these practices developing.

Yes. But that is the major stumbling block. Now no details are yet available , but speculation is that Boris realises that the veto on customs Union by DUP was a deal breaker..which it is. ,And will accept a customs barrier on the Irish sea ..or actually the NI Ports . The calculation being that there will be sufficient Labour Leavers to nullify the loss of DUP. I can see such a scheme working, particularly if trusted manufacturer status is given to known NI firms.
This is not far away from what I have been suggesting for months. The rest of Mays Deal would then stand

Under the customs partnership, the UK would agree to enforce EU customs rules and tariffs on goods moving from Britain to Northern Ireland. But if the EU tariff was higher than the UK tariff, businesses in the North would receive a rebate.
So Northern Ireland would leave the EU customs union and would enjoy all the benefits of an independent UK trade policy. But the customs border for administrative purposes would run alongside the regulatory border in the Irish Sea.

I can see Chinese e-bikes would enjoy preferential treatment in NI except that e-bikes are illegal there.

Woosh we are operating at cross purposes here. It is not British goods going into NI which concerns the Irish and EU. It is British goods ..(or worse imported goods into England migrating into Ireland) making their way unimpeded into mainland Europe.

British made goods imported into NI are treated like imports into ROI except that traders get indemnified for any duty paid to the EU. That's the attraction to compensate for extra burden on paperwork.

Britain pulling out of the Union will results in more people engaging in sex in car parks and at the side of roads, according to one insider.

The Sunday Times reported an unnamed minister as saying: "One of the things we talk about in these no-deal meetings concerns hauliers and their activities.

"The main thing is whether they will turn up at the Channel ports with the right paperwork. But there are also dogging hotspots all over the place."

The minister added: "Do Europeans even do dogging? There is something deeply British about dogging."

Less time on my hands these days to put OG right. Heart OP worked brilliantly so lots of time on water and ebike.
Broke my personal best for a mile sailing at Weymouth recently. (2 mins 6 secs). Sailed 489 miles last month..( all in circles unfortunstely)

That money is just peanuts in the grand scheme of things. The bigger problem is what what happens if none branded Chinese ,none CE speced, bikes flow into NI for distribution in mainland Europe. It is unlikely that HMRC will be policing EXPORTs from the UK..and why would they?.

Woosh, we do not know what the proposed scheme is. All we know is that cautious optimism was voiced yesterday,and a belief that there was enough to engage with the fuller EU.
I go back to an earlier post. The Irish state has one red line.. no hard customs posts on or near the border ,the earlier Backstop was one way of achieving that.. but we are outcomes driven not wedded to any one process.
