Actually mainly only among the people who wouldn't have voted labour anyway., the have nots would see those policies as progressive.Yet another way to lose votes.

One doesnt have to read ONS stats to recognise there's a problem with the distribution of wealth in uk. It's what fuelled brexit, what May's JAM's were about. I dont buy the bs that uk is a meritocracy where "hardworking families"(thought only politicians on today used that expression) are bled to death by shirkers. The UK has a relatively low income tax rate.
If one looks over at the EU today, you will actually see democracy in operation. The top positions in the EU ..The presidents of various functions are being decided. There was an attempted stitch up by French,Germany,Holland a few weeks ago at the E20 meeting, but ... Other nations of the EU Council demand their say.

Again not so... I had a choice in electing the Irish Government, they then selected their taoiseach, He has a voice in selecting the major positions in the EU various Presidents. He and the Irish cabinet will select the Irish EU Commissioner.
I had a direct vote and a choice in selecting our local MEP, she will have a choice in agreeing the portfolio that any of EU Commissioners ,and in accepting any of the nominations for EU presidencies.
Now if you choose to squander your vote on a Farage clone, well that was also your choice. The reason that the EU council need to be careful in nominations, is that they need to elicit support from the EU Parliament.
The problem with democracy in your world view is that it is open to others ,to vote differently to you. .. It is the same problem I share, but I console myself with a belief that those other people have the same rights as I.
I thought someone might come up with argument but it doesn't wash in regard to EU's Executive Commission, the Parliament, the European Council, the EU's foreign policy chief and the head of the European Central Bank (ECB). Plus of course the top job.
