No, sentences are set by the circumstances of each case. Jeremy being elderly (70 now) would be an important factor.
.
..less of the elderly please, some of us are knocking on that door. !
The distinction surely would be on whether the projectile has the capacity to physically injure. . A solid object thrown at the head has that capacity, a liquid has not... unless the liquid was bleach, petroleum, or AIDs contiminated blood. A milk shake is probably the most benign material, unless one has an allergy.

Channel 4 News Confirms It Has Been Banned From Brexit Party Events

Lets hope the rest of the media boycott Brexit Party Events in solidarity

This action is as fascist as they come, banning the media? for telling the truth? what next.

The important factor is it needs to be stopped. Before you accuse me of hero worship again, I would think the same if anybody was attacked in this way. There has to be a deterrent.
the punishment should match the crime.
If he had got splattered by pigeons instead of milkshake, would he have pressed charges?

I agree, but in a world where even someone who physically assaults a police officer often doesn't get anything like six months imprisonment, a severe sentence is unlikely for someone throwing a milk shake at a fit and healthy person.

If the offender has no criminal record, a fine is likely. For some while now the courts have been told to avoid short prison sentences up to 28 days, since they clog up the system for no good purpose. Remember only half each sentence is served.

why did the man get 28 days for hitting Corbyn with an egg. And didn't it happen almost immediately

A t 83 I'm not just knocking on that door, I'm almost through!

Where physical assault on an elderly person is concerned I think the psychological aspects of shock are also important. Our vulnerability due to reduced self defence abilities with age can make the effect of an attack far more severe.

I don't understand your question.

My post was explaining a possible reason why he got 28 days, the age of the person he assaulted. The courts take a very dim view of attacks on the elderly.

So your question was answered before you posed it.
