And there was also the 1819 Peterloo in Manchester. a peaceful rally of 60,000 pro-democracy reformers, men, women and children, was attacked by armed cavalry resulting in 15 deaths and over 600 injuries. Recently made in a film by Mike Leigh.
I think many of us living today fail to realise how privileged we actually are. Up to the start of the 20th century , the people..by which was meant poor people were viewed as sheep to be led by their betters. The US to its credit did at first promise fairness to the huddled masses ..mind you at a time they still practiced slavery on people with black and yellow skin. (The behaviour of the US to the Chinese immigrants on the west coast appalling)And there was also the 1819 Peterloo in Manchester. a peaceful rally of 60,000 pro-democracy reformers, men, women and children, was attacked by armed cavalry resulting in 15 deaths and over 600 injuries. And the American application of policies based on Eugenics where the mentally disabled were concerned fitted in well with the Nazi regime at the time too!I think many of us living today fail to realise how privileged we actually are. We still have forced sterilisation in Europe today. It may be less obvious and more subtle, but preventing the disabled from having full lives, ,by segregation of the mentally retarded is essentially that policy. And the American application of policies based on Eugenics where the mentally disabled were concerned fitted in well with the Nazi regime at the time too!

Coerced sterilization is a shameful part of America’s history, and one doesn’t have to go too far back to find examples of it. Used as a means of controlling “undesirable” populations – immigrants, people of color, poor people, unmarried mothers, the disabled, the mentally ill – federally-funded sterilization programs took place in 32 states throughout the 20th century. Driven by prejudiced notions of science and social control, these programs informed policies on immigration and segregation.
You only have to watch the video, then you can make up your own mind and express your own opinion. Instead, you insist on repeating unsubstantiated ill-informed claims. That's very poor. I'd thought you were better than that.Strange how the two ardent followers of his that I mentioned are so convinced that he is, suiting their views. They've been following his utterances for a very long time.
It's not one thing I don't know about him, I know very little about him. What I do know is that any number of independent observers, many authorities, and even many of his own followers believe he is anti Muslim. I also know I don't want to take any notice of a dishonest person who is a trouble maker at war with society.
.
It was a gimmick when Trump offered to move the immigrants to the democrat areas after they said how much theywelcomed them. It wasn't a gimmick when the democrats said how bad he was for attempting to "dump" the immigrants on them as if the immigrants were rubbish. You really do fall for things, even such a stupid press gimmick like this.
No wonder you are impressed by "Tommy Robinson".
.
And dont forget when authorities raped and killed our Queen...AD61 isnt that long ago, on seismic scale, and only a second or 2 in Ephamaris Astronomical... Bet some posters on here can remember it.And there was also the 1819 Peterloo in Manchester. a peaceful rally of 60,000 pro-democracy reformers, men, women and children, was attacked by armed cavalry resulting in 15 deaths and over 600 injuries. That he uses five completely different full names, has belonged to some extremist organisations and has even travelled on someone elses passport, a criminal offence, are not unsubstantiated ill-informed claims. You only have to watch the video, then you can make up your own mind and express your own opinion. Zlatan, going back to AD61, might be a bit excessive, but people do live a long time. Mr own father was a child before the WW1 started, and could theoretically have been in Croke Park for that Bloody Sunday massacre. The Scottish settlers in New York state suffered ethnic cleansing from the American colonists and displaced themselves north into Canada, rather than fight Redcoats ,from their recent experience in 1745 at Culloden . A work colleague of mine from Pakistan, literally does not know his age, because his records were destroyed in the partition of India, when his family fled. And dont forget when authorities raped and killed our Queen...AD61 isnt that long ago, on seismic scale, and only a second or 2 in Ephamaris Astronomical... Yep and Germans bombed by mums chip shop. Come on Danidl, whats point of dragging past up. We, ve got enough issues to deal with without trying to apportion blame, guilt and recriminations for past grievances. We must learn from past but move on.Zlatan, going back to AD61, might be a bit excessive, but people do live a long time. Yes indeed we should learn from history, even the most recent:Learn, move on and forget.
I am waiting to see what name he registers under as a candidate (if he does). Depending on what he chooses, he could find himself disqualified. That he uses five completely different full names, has belonged to some extremist organisations and has even travelled on someone elses passport, a criminal offence, are not unsubstantiated ill-informed claims.
They are facts, so please stop trying to convince me that he is a reputable person who can be reliably trusted. Given that history he clearly isn't.
.
Agreed. As long as it is the past, not sure it is just yet.Yes indeed we should learn from history, even the most recent:
Learn: that the referendum was a bad disruptive idea.
Move on: to parliament making such decisions.
Forget: the failed notion of blindly leaving the EU.

I thought Tommy Robinson was really good when he played Baldrick in the Black Adder television series and later when he presented Time Team. His move into right wing politics has been a disaster, and I have lost all respect for him.vfr400 has a point where Tommy Robinson draws a bigger crowd than Nigel Farage, albeit a different crowd. Maybe his old team at the EDL and Pegida will make May 23rd a day to remember.
do you mean Tony Robinson who played Baldrick?I thought Tommy Robinson was really good when he played Baldrick in the Black Adder television series and later when he presented Time Team. His move into right wing politics has been a disaster, and I have lost all respect for him.

But we are aren't we, and it is the present ,we just quietly use Drones instead of fighter jets, and keep it out of the media, how many innocents have we killed with them, and how many have died from UK manufactured weapons we have sold to cruel regimes? come off it Zlatan.Yep and Germans bombed by mums chip shop. Come on Danidl, whats point of dragging past up. We, ve got enough issues to deal with without trying to apportion blame, guilt and recriminations for past grievances. Had we not could we really have started trade and friendship with Japanese, Italians, Germans... The list could go on and on.
Afro Carribeans could quite easily and legitimately complain to this day about slave trade carried out by all Europeans. Where does it stop?
Yes, nobody, believes more than I do in equal opportunities and racial equality. Achieve that for all, forget past and move on, if we dont where does it end. Another war, more attrocities. Then another round of catching up. Equality before revenge Danidl, any day, in my book.
Yes, the way UK dealt with India was appalling, so was how French started Vietnam War. How Dutch colonized areas, how the Poetugese did, the way France treated Algeria... How many more? Americans commiting genocide on native Indians... Spanish in Mexico???
You cant change history or right wrongs already done. Learn, move on and forget.
Or perhaps Mexico, or the race obliterated living in region now called Mexico, should take Spanish to court and prosecute descendants of Conquistadors? Yep, sounds daft, but why put line at 1819? Why not AD 61.
Or perhaps thats the problem. Its exactly how religious fervour and wars start. Pope calling on Christians for attrocities by Muslims centuries before. (later proved to be unfounded) Its all BS Danidl. Move on.
Its the past, none of us are going that way.
vfr400 may be too young to know who Lobby Lud was.You are Tommy Robinson and I claim my £5!
