Woosh....will EU anti dumping duties into the UK on electric bikes be deleted on March 30??????
KudosDave
No, I don't think so.
In any case, you have space, you can assemble from SKD if you want to.
I managed to bring down the cost of re-assembly a lot since last July, it's no longer a problem.
The only hassle I have is with the shipment of batteries. You'll get into trouble if you ship them in LCL.

It would short circuit a lot of repetition if you would read what has been written. The Backstop was originally agreed to stop a physical hard border infrastructure on the island of Ireland. It had no relevance to a hard border at Calais.
Without a Deal it is inevitable that there will be a physical border on the Newry Dundalk road,to stop traffic in goods. Not to stop traffic in people. There are already agreements in place,as far back as 1923, governing the free movement of UK and RoI citizens people . Those agreements do not cover the movements of other EU citizens. So I can foresee immigration police at Cairnryan, and any UK airport which takes flights from NI.
You may be prepared to forego your BLT or your BigMac, you may be prepared for your Glaswegian collegues to revert to the appalling diets of high fat foods which caused premature deaths, but not all your countrymen are so noble, and may wish to eat more salads., tasteless as iceberg lettuce and forced tomatoes may be.
so now Brexit is going to be responsible for people dying of bad diets. Are you saying that Glaswegians don't know how to eat properly??? Some of the more sensitive souls on here might call that racist but I think it is just a bit of a strange observation.Sorry Danidl pile of sanctimonious drivel. My point was simply that the EU are driving the UK towards a no deal brexit and then the question of the hard border will have to be addressed. I didn't mention it in the context of a hard border at Calais. In that instance I was merely pointing out the stupidity of project fears latest warnings. And btw I don't eat big macs. As an interesting aside, while walking this morning I looked across the landscape and as far as I could see there were empty fields lying fallow, perfect for growing food. I wonder if they are empty because of CAP.

I think that fingers is a sad little person - for me that is a fact. If you doubt that he is then please re-read some of his posts in this thread. He is certainly beyond holding an intelligent argument on brexit.
So as long as your 'personal insults' are 'factual' they don't qualify as personal insults!

Ha.

You really couldn't make this stuff up.

+++++++++++++BREAKING NEWS++++++++++++++++++++

AK did an insult.
No. According to him it's not an insult because it is based on 'facts'.

Really.

No - really.

No - like really really really.

Get it?

He determines the 'facts' so it's not an insult!

Da da boom!

Great.. you have got it!.
Darn you really are a slow learner. If you put an exclamation mark at the end of a sentence it counts for the full stop - so you don't need another full stop.

I do think when the final analysis is in they will find that it was the Remainers who were the thickies.

Nothing can "never happen". The unthinkable can and often does happen. As I say, I don't care one way or the other about the theoretical ideal of free movement of people. I have no concerns. However, It could be gone at the stroke of a pen given the correct environment, and the environment is shifting amongst the population of the wider EU. How quickly and the number of direction changes ahead is the only unknown.
I should introduce you to my mother. There are PLENTY of things that can 'never happen' let me assure you.

Oh dear, this same stubbornness that is at the root of the uk's problems.

No, No, No, it is never and mentioning this changing at a stroke of a pen shows how little you understand the situation.

The Four Freedoms are the EU, without them the EU doesn't exist, since through all its treaties since day one it has been entirely built upon them. That is why they never change them for anyone and never will.
.
50Hertz my friend I'd give this one up if I were you. Flecc's on the money here - freedom of movement is one of those things the EU ain't never gonna give up. It's part of the whole package.

I don't buy that argument, Danidl.
It's an important part of the WA in case one side decides to prolong the trade negotiation beyond the IP but ultimately, Westminster can decide to withdraw from it if it does not contain a sunset clause. What can the ROI do in that case?
That is exactly the reason it needs to remain in the Deal , to prevent Westminster walking away. Again and again I have said that a Backstop does not need to include Mainland UK, that is a wrinkle that the UK negotiators wished inserted, to help their current parliamentary arithmetic. If Westminster at some future date, wanted mainland UK to drift away, ..well no problem here. The EU robust border with no backstop at Calais. We would need an EU border at Dublin, and we want one at Cairnryan, not Newry.
Looking at transport patterns, Cairnryan is obvious ,the vast bulk of east west NI trade goes through it, .. particularly into Scotland and it is only the time sensitive produce for middle and lower England which flows Dublin Liverpool or Dublin Holyhead.
Obviously in a Customs Union no backstop or customs posts either in Dublin, Calais, Cairnryan or Zeebrugge are required.

that's correct.
the EU wants to tackle/banish the most visible and segregate treatment of EU citizens in the past.
that's why it will not yield on the principle of FOM.

Regrettably the life expectancy of Scots was poorer than SE England, and it was not genetics, but an improverished diet. So not racist.
Again and again the EU are not driving the British anywhere. The UK has been in the driving seat all the time, and if anything they were confirmed as the drivers by the ECJ ruling in December. Do not attempt to blame anyone else, if anything the UK are the perpetrators here, and we in Ireland ,both North and South, the victims.
Yes there may well be an increase in agriculture in the UK, but will it be sufficient to support the population?. Now agriculture was more primative in WW2 , but England needed all the food it could get from Ireland. In addition the population of then 41 million ,not the current 61 million needed front gardens cultivated

Your quibbles about punctuation, are as relevant to this discussion as the HoC debate.

we wouldn't need to replace everything. There are other countries where we could buy food if necessary, and it would be very different from the wartime situation. We have got plenty of room to grow our own. Maybe need to get rid of all the wind farms and solar farms and get fracking
