You obviously haven't been looking at the forecasts, Jonathan didn't say he had snow, he said snow this weekend.

This link shows why.

So he wasn't lying.

Doesn't seem likely to me. I thought he said he lived in Birmingham?

Saturday:
Heavy rain and strong winds in northern Scotland will spread to other western parts, turning to snow in the far north. Eastern England will stay dry, bright and breezy.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:
Sunday will be colder and brighter but still windy with wintry showers. Monday and Tuesday will be less windy but still cold, with further wintry showers.

Maybe he watched the BBC TV forecast as I did, which only mentioned snow in the north without defining exactly where.

My in-box (Continental Telegraph):

Airbus Isn’t Going To Leave The UK, Brexit Or Not. Don’t Be Silly

Another little brick in that pyramid of Project Fear – Airbus will leave the UK if Brexit happens without a deal. The correct response to which is don’t be silly. Wings are the second high tech bit of a modern aircraft after the engines. The making of wings is no more likely to move out of Britain than the Rolls Royce factory making the engines is. There are no tariff issues which will be in operation – planes tend to go in and out of countries quite a lot after all – so it’s all just political posturing:

Airbus warns Theresa May it could leave UK if there’s a no deal Brexit
Nonsense.

Engineering giant Airbus increased pressure on Theresa May with a stark warning it could walk away from the UK if it crashes out of the EU without a Brexit deal. The firm’s chief executive Tim Anders launched a scathing attack on the Prime Minister’s “disgraceful” Government over its handling of the departure. In a direct warning to Mrs May, he said: “Please don’t listen to the Brexiteers’ madness which asserts that, because we have huge plants here, we will not move and we will always be here. They are wrong”.
It’s not the factory which is the point. It’s the labour force. Which isn’t going to move therefore nor is the factory.

There are also no issues of parts crossing borders innumerable times and so on.

Seriously, the company has built its own special planes to move those wings around. People just don’t go to that sort of expense and then shift factory location over some paperwork to cross a national boundary.

Airbus isn’t about to leave the UK over Brexit, deal or no deal.
Really!. Skills can be taught.

In the long term, 30-50 years, if there is a rail tunnel linking Dublin to France, it would be more logical for NI to be united to Southern Ireland.

Really!. Skills can be taught.

Indeed they can. Indeed they can.

The EU is learning that it's member countries want our lorries to have free passage in the event of a wto deal and for open skies for our airplanes too.

The age of reason is beginning and it all it took was some simple sage words from our Monarch.

“Of course, every generation faces fresh challenges and opportunities. As we look for new answers in the modern age, I for one prefer the tried and tested recipes, like speaking well of each other and respecting different points of view; coming together to seek out the common ground; and never losing sight of the bigger picture. To me, these approaches are timeless, and I commend them to everyone.”

If only everyone had a Queen so wise.

This weekend of course, as I said, I watched the BBC TV forecast.

And having just looked, the Met Office is still forecasting snow.

It seems I picked up the wrong link, for which I apologise, but it doesn't alter the fact of this weekend's forecast.

Nice piece of Journalism designed to bring peace to the Brexit situation in the Daily Mail

This Fascist rag is surely in breach of some law or other, insulting parliament and trying to inflame the public is such a manner'
It should lose it's licence to publish for that sort of content, starting with a couple of months ban for the first offence, and this page should be that first offence.

Obviousy with this line she wants us to remain in the EU
"coming together to seek out the common ground; and never losing sight of the bigger picture
No?
I've heard better platitudes from Young Mr Grace from "Are you being served.""
Hopefully this so distinguished old lady she will survive going through a windscreen though not being wise enough to wear her seatbelt, eh?

Come to think of it Brexit is very much a case of heading into a ccollision without a seat belt isn't it?
And who would be crazy enough to recommend that?
Better fasten your seatbelt

Of course everyone in the EU wants free movement of trucks, and no they are not slow learners,.. that was what the EU is about.
About the Queen, whatever!. We have a lot of respect for our own little man. Our Micael D ,is capable of stringing a few words together, and does come up with well structured arguments,..even if he does use hi' flautin' long sentences.

Thanks. I do also use the Met Office site often, but have it set to my nearby Met Office station at Biggin Hill, since I live at the conjunction of the London/Surrey/Kent borders.

No snow here with 10 degrees today!

I tend to agree with you on this one. IF they did move, bringing skilled jobs to another EU country would be highly desirable.

I don’t know, but I guess building an aircraft wing can be broken down into a multitude of smaller, but skilled, tasks. If they constructed a new facility and offered a generous relocation package to a percentage of the UK workers, they’d go and start to get it up and running, training new staff as they go along. Eventually, the new facility would come in line at full capacity.

I don’t know if Airbus would stand the cost of doing the above, it’s a roll of the dice for the U.K. Airbus employees. Not a gamble I’d like to take and I’m sure it’s not one they thought they’d be voting for.

Of course, we could scrap Brexit and they shut the U.K. plant anyway. Then move to an area where wages are 1/3 to 1/2 of those in the U.K. A bit like other companies have done, the car industry or Cadbury’s for example.

I think scrapping Brexit would make Airbus jobs in the U.K. safer for now, but I’m not so sure for how long.

with some important limitations, notably that the allowance is only for point to point, UK-EU, transfers are not allowed.
Your truck can take goods from London to Paris, drop some in Paris, then go to Frankfurt. Your trucks are not allowed to pick up some additional goods from Paris for Frankfurt unless they go straight back to London.
Same for aviation, you are allowed to continue picking up passengers from London for Paris and fly on to Frankfurt but when you land in Paris, you cannot pick up passengers for Frankfurt. Your plane can only pick up passengers from the EU to go to the UK, no transfers within the EU.
The main problem in the short term is computer systems, even if we don't do any checks on goods in and out of the EU27.
They are not ready for processing customs forms. The forms are not even prepared.

they may lose faith in their future here and move out.
Top of the list is the big pharma companies.
these things take years and like a crack in the dam's wall, after 10 years, a small trickle of a few companies a year moving out will become a torrent.
