See Tommie, we can agree. Leo is actually handling it very well. So now that the attacks on Leo and Simon are blunted, is the propaganda machine targetting the Irish people. If so be careful what you wish for,in general the people on mainland UK,cannot distinguish between Belfast ,Derry, Cork and Dublin.
The infantile assumption that Leo is anyones puppet, is absurd.
The article from the Irish examiner (previously called the cork examiner) is fair and balanced.
Shall I interpret.... In the event of a Crash out there WILL be borders, there is more coastal land cheaper on mainland Europe than close to the British Channel ports. So it may be more feasible to locate them there . The " risk " is not that they are located on mainland Europe, the RISK is that there will be any customs posts at all. Leo is determined that he and his government will not be labelled as the creators of the Border ..which is only fair.
Actually placing Borders in EU countries has an advantage, in that Irish goods in bonded trucks will be able to pass unhindered from RoI via UK and then through the blue channel into mainland Europe. Only goods originating in the UK or being ending there will suffer the tender mercies of HM customs .
So why all the faff, fuss, song and dance for the past 18 months or so?

And whats going to happen up at the border here?

" Irish goods in bonded trucks will be able to pass unhindered from RoI via UK "
Maybe, maybe not.....This could all change when UK impose transit charges on Irish HGV though.

Yes, you are right. Robdon hasn’t twisted anything I have posted, in fact I don’t recall seeing anything he’s posted over the past few weeks.

He does tend to use the dislike mallet a lot :) That’s fine, but I look at some of the things he disagrees with and dislikes and find it really difficult to see what it is that he objects to.
Brexit.

Why would I have another ID? what a strange thing to say even for you
As to my suggesting you could be in Rotherham, (not insisting) That was based on the assumption that no person in their right mind, while in as interesting a place as South Affrica with so many interesting things to see and do, would be so bored they would make off topic comments on a forum thousands of miles away.

What kind of a person does that? and what did you post to distract you from the wonders of South Arica?
You simply sniped at me as usual.
Good grief what lofty ambition, is that the best you can do?

By the way do you have any comment on Brexit? you rarely get around to mention it these days, how would you like it to turn out?

Brexit: Dutch government says over 250 companies in talks about relocating to Netherlands

Sony and Panasonic are among household names to be lured away with promise of access to EU markets

“The number of businesses we are in contact with for a possible arrival is growing. At the start of 2017 it was 80, at the start of 2018 150, and now it’s more than 250,” he said.
“This increase will continue and it’s not strange, because there is great uncertainty at the moment in Britain. And if there is one thing that’s bad for business, it’s uncertainty.”
The spokesperson confirmed that that the NFIA was “in contact with more than 250 interested in an eventual move to the Netherlands because of Brexit”.

Only so many hours you can spend on water...
As for Brexit, you know my stance. We should have ref 2 with Mays deal or Remain as options.

based on recent by-elections and polls, if there were an election tomorrow, Labour + LibDems + SNP > conservatives + DUP
JC would be the next PM.

From the Independent
At last a Brexit Bonus All yu have to do is be a total Failure
Former Brexit secretary David Davis to earn £3,000 an hour as adviser to major Tory donor JCB

Critics said it was 'disgusting' Mr Davis had been offered the role having 'failed to properly plan for Brexit and storming out of the cabinet'

The former Brexit secretary declared he will earn £60,000 for 20 hours work each year for the firm, whose billionaire chairman Lord Bamford is a major donor to the Conservative party and the Leave campaign.

The large pay packet - which breaks down to around £50 per minute - would be in addition to his basic MPs salary of £77,379 per year.

Remind me again about the notion "Leave voters knew what they voted for"
I need a good laugh.
What they actually "got" was corruption on an epic scale.
Congratulations on enriching this incompetent, idle and worthless failure

At last a few words on topic, and wise words at that.
The holiday must be doing you good.

Fascinating

Good idea! Politicians could prove cheaper to buy than targetted facebook adverts, and with them come free Governent policies to favour the company
All above board and ethical of course

I wonder if you could get a discount for buying a complete political party? that could save the costs of these bothersome general elections and "Take back control" from the people.

A second referendum would be undemocratic but accepting a £60k pretend job from a millionaire seeking political influence is absolutely fine. What a shambles.

Taking back control of our borders Telegraph style
"
UK to pay French £6m for drones for 24/7 surveillance in bid to stop migrants crossing Channel

Sorry I am laughing, we can't even take back control without help from the French
Are there any drones capable of flying 24/7? Which implies in all weathers?

Admittedly the actual article doesn't say the drones will be flying 24/7 but typically of headlines, the word "drones" is given prominence when they might only be used a fraction of the time. Possibly only when the other measures have identified something to investigate.

But it is taking back control. To them that hath, more. Business (at least, some business) has been trying to ramp up its control forever. Every time the people make a gain, business works to take back their control. This seems just another step.
