According to Radio 4 this morning TM has given up reading the morning papers as they are "too depressing"

I wonder why........
the DWP (department of work and pensions) has just notified her the date of her entitlement to our state pension.

Times are getting hard when Jackass's retort can be seen in this way
in the Express
"
Jacob Rees-Mogg has BRILLIANT message for Remainers calling Brexiteers STUPID
BREXITEER Jacob Rees-Mogg fired back at claims Brexiteers do not understand Prime Minister Theresa May’s Chequers proposal and said it is a “desperately condescending and arrogant approach”.

And his equally arrogant and condescending response constitutes a "Brilliant defence, does it?"

Is that really the best he can come up with?
I wonder how he manages to label the opposition to his faction using the same claims as they do and not see the irony?

From his many statements he is clearly a man who is as out of touch with reality as the man in the moon

But then, he is supporting Hard Brexit, in a way a sort of crude religion not based on facts.
And of course used without the qualifier that he is referring to his group and other hard brexit supporters, not the entire 17 million who voted to leave the EU and have not been consulted on what sort of Brexit the want

that will be obvious to JC too of course
TM spins the NI backstop to attract remainers and at the same time, claims to deliver brexit to her tory MPs and membership. It's just not tenable, even half-hearted leavers can see that she is lying. That is why BJ is still listened to.
I really can't see how JC can do better.
It's about time that our political leaders tell the people about the cost of brexit and perhaps ask their permission again to spend the money.

Thought for the Day
Public Notice
The Government has exhaustively examined the cost and or advantages of leaving the EU
There are no advantages, just huge damage to the economy and future of the nation
Therefore we are cancelling the project as the costs have outrun any possible advantage.
A letter advising this has been sent to the sponsors of the project

Care has been taken to reduce postal costs so the advice letters have been despatched mainly in Diplomatic bags (for instance one example bears the Crest of the Russian Embassy)

Better still have the guts to cancel it.
if voters feel that they don't want to spend the money or do the work that immigrants are hired to do then yes, they will enable a future government to negotiate a closer relationship or reverse brexit.
TM should resign and putting herself up as a candidate like John Major did. She can then change her last manifesto.

Never mind a future government we need to drop this fiasco in the dustbin of history right now.
both Labour and Conservatives have promised to deliver brexit. You need both parties to come clean on what brexit is, the cost to do that and admit that they don't think it's wise to proceed too quickly. Delaying A50, a new GE and new manifestos are needed for a new mandate.
The EU has accepted the principle of a transition period, so extending A50 shouldn't be difficult.

I fear that though desirable, it's wishful thinking.

I am for taxing those whose fortune is more than £10 millions. Just ask them to fill in:
- how much are you worth? £100 millions? you should pay £40 millions in tax. How much did you pay so far? £1 million? is that all? in that case, your tax bill is £39 millions. Pay now or we charge interest.
This is how it should be and all the firms that use tax avoidance should just be charged automatically on a percentage of turnover .

politico did a poll that illustrates how confused the tories are at the CPC18.

- reduce the number of migrants coming to Britain? 59 yes, 18 no.
- abide by new rules and regulations introduced by the EU after Brexit? 54 no, 25 yes.
- border and customs checks between Northern Ireland and the ROI? 47 no, 32 yes.
- border and customs checks between Northern Ireland and the rest of the U.K? 51 no, 28 yes.
- Would Britain be better off with a closer trading relationship with the EU or the U.S? 46 EU, 29 US.

my guess is that the 29 that think US better than EU are BJ's faction who also distorted the result of the previous questions.

that poll suggests that about one out of 3 conservative members do not understand the EU's position. The EU can only do a bit for the ROI by allowing NI to remain in the single market and customs union, that status is not for sale to the UK or any other country.
Only offer of a customs union can be made to the UK, with max fac. That is why JC is more credible to get a good deal. In case the UK opts for a CU, we'll have to hand over a fair chunk of collected duty to the EU.
Apparently TM is secretly negotiating extension of CU after the transition finishes. No wonder the hard brexiters want to dump her asap.

What a joke, we are supposed to be leaving the EU, but are collecting tax for them?
And all to place ourselves at a commercial and social advantage just to please an idiot minority in parliament and dishonest elite that buys their loyalty

Bought and sold for English Gold
What a parcel of rogues in a nation

Now who could have said that I wonder?
The only bit the Bard got wrong was the nation the gold was coming from.

The Tories are too cosy with the likes of Amazon and E-Bay,they keep the employment numbers looking good. The solution is as you say a turnover tax which is discountable by corporation tax....that way honest tax paying businesses should not be clobbered twice.
The tax charge would be easy but are the politics there to do it.

let's start with something simple: online businesses must be VAT registered to sell in this country.
