My Ruddless prediction has come to pass.
True.
Remainers shot themselves in the foot asking for her scalp.
TBH, the Windrush scandal has little to do with her target of removals.

Why was it Pernicious to seek the resignation of this liar?
by tory's standard, Rudd isn't a liar. Just incompetent.
She was caught by a leading question in the House, came out with the wrong answer, the rest we already know.
With hindsight, it's just a matter of time that the hard brexiters in the government would get their scalp.

The Telegraph shows just how immoral the right wing Press has become

Amber Rudd paid the price of a pernicious Labour campaign and some exceptional Home Office incompetence.

Why was it Pernicious to seek the resignation of this liar?
HM's Opposition in the Commons has a duty to seek the dismissal of a government minister who has been demonstrated to have lied both to parliament and the public in a matter of such importance involving human rights. The 'torygraph' chooses to blame both Labour and Civil Servants for May's incompetence.

Rudd could be said to be paying the price for May's disastrous tenure of that office over six years. So much of what has come to pass was created and nurtured on May's watch at the Home Office therefore I believe she is culpable in the 'Windrush' affair, almost certainly more so than Rudd who looks like the 'fall guy' in this debacle.

It is entirely typical of a major tory propaganda sheet to seek to blame anyone and everyone, rather than admit that tory politicians are incompetent and unfit for office.

No really... the "remainers" want the remainer politicians to be able to speak out, and able to rebel against the front bench on the future votes. They also don't want a compromise, they want Brexit stopped. So getting a hard line Brexit front bench in place will split the conservative party, and all being well stop Brexit.

There is a remain plan... and its slowly working, as planned.

It now falls to May to appoint a successor to Amber Rudd but what choice is there in reality? May clings on to power and will be glad of the respite created by the Amber Rudd affair but her grip on power has been tenuous for some time.

The ultra-right in her party only puts up with May because she appears to be solidly pro-'Brexit', apparently offering no concessions to the 'Remain' faction in the House and in the country. May's choice, therefore, to replace Rudd will be a question of which aspirant fascist she feels is least damaging to her in her quest to retain the power which she has so long craved. If she should appoint anyone anti-'Brexit' or soft-'Brexit', she will most likely soon become victim of a bloodless coup organised by the 1922 committee, most of whom like her no more than I do.

She may be party leader but the real power in her party lies elsewhere and that has always been so. I believe May is now experiencing a fuller 'Sword of Damocles' moment than she ever anticipated when she made her pitch for power twenty-one months ago. I need to check with my bookie, who the leading contenders are to see if there is anyone worth a punt.

that plan should have a customs union of some sort to stop the hard brexiters.
Now Rudd is removed, the remaining remainers in TM's cabinet are sheep.

New Home Secretary?

My proposal would be Animal from the Muppets.
Ticks all the boxes for subtlety, charm and diplomacy.
Recommended.

I really hope that's true, but plans are a rare as hens teeth in Westminter!

The plan is full membership of the EU.... #stopbrexit and then do everything possible to solve the UK's problems internally, without blaming the EU / Immigrants, whilst also reforming the EU from within.

Plans are pretty common... them being discussed publicly is rare. But if you listen to the main players on the remain side you'll understand.

Its needs Brexit to be shown to be a disaster before it can be stopped, if its stopped to early it'll cause more problems. The long term target is to either have a peoples choice referendum on the deal, or ideally give Parliament and the Lords the confidence that they can vote to keep us in the EU as it is what the country needs and wants.

Its all heading in that direction currently and I can't see anything stopping it now.

good luck with that plan.
I reckon the best the remainers can achieve is a longer transition period.

Well we can come back to it and see if I'm right in a couple of years can't we... but you do realise that the longer the transition period, the more chance there is of it just being called off.

The younger generation have been brought up European. My wife just went on a hen do to Barcelona, with her Spanish friend who's lived in the UK since going to uni here. 10 ladies on the trips, full mix of Europeans, all friends all communicating in a mix of Italian, Spanish and English. We live in a different world now, Brexit can't and won't turn the clock back. Brexit is going to fail, and either we won't leave, or we'll be back in the EU on worse terms shortly.

Freedom of Movement is a good thing :)

I have never been against FOM, being an immigrant myself for 40 years. TM has set brexit on its course by triggering A50. I don't think brexit is going to be reversed.
It's true that more and more people realise that the promises made by BJ, Hannan, Gove etc are wildly unrealistic but the fundamental question of whether the EU will become the US of E has not changed. The brexit process will need more time because the best course to manage divergence is slowly does it.

So you're suggesting because TM has said something, she won't change her mind, or it can't be indone? You have a strange amount of faith in that system.

I suspect you'd find if she said, its a bad idea can we stop, the EU would simply tear up the A50 trigger and we'd all carry on as if it had never been triggered. Don't forget they don't want us to leave. This will be perfect for the EU, it shows that being outside isn't better than being in the club.

I'll bet you £100.00 to the charity of your choosing that we won't leave the EU. You can pick the date you want the bet to take action, if you think we'll have left by that date.

I have no sympathy for Amber Dudd, but we mustn't forget that the imposter occupying Number 10 is responsible for bringing about the circumstances which resulted in Dudd's resignation.

unlikely. We'll have to have unanimous agreement from all members of the EU27 to cancel A50. Let's see: starting with Spain about the rock..

Spain will put cash first, as will the rest.

Arguing about the rock is better for Spain than actually getting it back.

KTM, you have a greater degree of hope in an eventual sucessful process than I have. I would deem it a forlorn hope. Some of the younger people recognised that free movement was in their interest, and voted in the referendum accordingly. . We are now actually into the end game, and as far as I can see there have been no agreement on anything of substance. The belief that someone somewhere is going to pull a rabbit from a hat and resolve everything ,where does that come from?.
Had the remainders a strategy, it would have centred around the fact that the people were lied to, that sophisticated opinion tampering was carried out and that financial fraud was adopted to ensure that more money was allocated, and they would be hammering this at every interview . Very simply when you cede the high ground , it's the divils own job to get it back.
Also forlorn is the assumption that when out ,a simple U turn will make everything right again. Life does not work like that, there will be some, maybe many , within the EU who do not look fondly in the UK, WW2, not withstanding. .. Particularly a UK whose publicly elected officials have engaged in a process of insulting their neighbours. Europeans recognise that the UK has as free press, but also recognise that such a press produces content that the majority must have agreed with. ..otherwise these papers don't sell.
