The Daily Mail never gives up on a dead Fake news Story
"
Chemical weapons base where Russian scientists 'made Salisbury nerve agent' is demolished as Vladimir Putin is accused of a cover-up
  • The base was cited as source of the nerve agent used in the Salisbury attack
  • The shock move to destroy the site was revealed by state-run media in Russia
  • It was torn down before investigators from the OPCW could inspect the area
"
‘The timing seems especially cynical as it is likely that now the OPCW have confirmed Porton Down results that Novichok was used in the botched Skripal assassination, the OPCW would want to visit Shikhany, as the Chemical Weapons Convention would have them do, to see where these things were made, or not. The destruction of the labs in this case seems like an admission of guilt.’
The military research base in southern Russia was named by British intelligence chief Sir Mark Sedwill as the source of the Novichok nerve agent used in the assassination attempt by Russia.

A Google search turned this up
"The experimental scientific center at Shikany halted its activities in February 1994, offering its 2,500 staff the choice of either seeking another job or taking an enforced vacation. Since the employees had not received their wages since December 1993, there was an immediate exodus reducing the staff to 1,500 left.

No wonder the place is being demolished

What's wrong with this story
Sir Mark Sedwill's comments are a new one on me!

The readers reactions are interesting

Oh give me a break. MOS, and what about the risidual agents and/or cross contamination? Look what our glorious utterly incompetent Government are saying re the Sailsbury incident, the 'experts' are having to take the top soil off half of the city before they can make safe the place. The ConLabLibs really do take us voters for fools.

I thought the OPCW had visited this particular facility on numerous occasions and found it to be clean!

Matt, Nordica, United Kingdom, moments ago

They did, earlier this year in fact. The facility destruction and closedown has been going on for some time in fact. But the DM won't tell you things like that."

..............................
Shikhany mayor Andrei Tatarinov told reporters: ‘The buildings are currently being demolished, and all construction waste is passed through high-temperature furnaces. Burnt rubbish is stored at a special landfill site.

'All this is carried out in order to clean the institute’s territory, which can later be set up for some new production facilities.’

What I read earlier suggested it was more Sainsbury taking over Asda - but with uncertainty about Walmart's interest in the enlarged Sainsbury.
Seems to be only an operational merger, chiefly for buying power. Sainsburys has to discuss it with Walmart since they are the ASDA owners, but it doesn't mean a takeover.

The complication is Walmart's size, a tiddler merging with a giant.

on a wider issue is the huge combined power of paid ads on keyword
searches and the Amazon distribution model.
It will make a large number of medium sized supermarkets redundant.
I find that I buy online more and more with each passing year because of the cost to go to the shops on top of any price comparison.

NO BREXIT: House of Lords poised to derail EU exit TOMORROW as Tory rebels back Labour
A MOVE by Peers to change flagship Brexit legislation threatens to block the UK’s break with Brussels, it has been warned. Peers in the largely pro-Remain chamber are to vote on what is being dubbed the “no Brexit” amendment to the EU (Withdrawal) Bill tomorrow.

Tell me why shouldn't there be a no Brexit amendment any way?
Why are we committed to Brexit on such a marginal victory based on lies deceit and Psycholgical warfare?
Worse the conditions of leaving negotiated by incompetents?
Peers in the largely pro-Remain chamber are to vote on what is being dubbed the “no Brexit

Had the HoL been pro remain , would they have not scuppered the article 50 legislation??.

Theresa May has a track record of either making the wrong decision or not making a decision at all. It is clear in the case of the supercilious Amber Rudd that May has chosen the latter course, probably out of fear that she cannot afford to make any more enemies within the PCP.

I cannot see how May can remain as party leader and PM for much longer with her unwillingness to do what is right as leader when a Cabinet member behaves as abominably as Rudd. Both of them deserve to be removed from office.

It was considered by a few but they didn't dare, since it would have put them in direct confrontation with the public's referendum vote to leave.

The HoL's function is to assist with, monitor and where felt necessary modify the government's legislation. It has no power to challenge the public's democratic position.

We buy virtually no food products online. Only a few special things that we have not found a suitable product locally. However, we live in a town that has neither Sainsbury nor Asda. Nearest Sainsbury (other than the pathetic branch in Tenby) is Swansea or thereabouts. Nearest Asda is a toll bridge away so costs £1.50 on top of any other costs - and is a pretty pathetic branch itself. End up with Tesco, Morrisons, Aldi and Lidl plus a not too tiny M&S - of the big shops. Yes - Iceland as well.

Reading through the reader's comments in the various right wing rags I note that they are all taking the line that anyone critical of the Government and Press official "truth" or pro Corbyn or the left wing, indeed not supporting Brexit in it's most extreme and toxic form is labelled as a "Russian Bot"

Mc Carthey must be laughing in his grave.
Congratulations are due to Zlatan, who did it first on this thread before it hit the mainstream.;)

and then replaced by whom?I can't see any worthy candidates among the conservative MPs that these two jobs should go to.
the only way TM should be removed is a new GE.

They've got better talent among the newer MPS than many in the cabinet.

Here's some.
.
let's see who is in your list:
Dominic Raab
Tom Tugendhat
Suella Fernandes
the other two are less seen on TV:
James Cleverly
Nusrat Ghani

I fail to remember anything worth listening to that any of them have ever said. Only remember the usual drivel about brexit is brexit, the will of the people and believing in the role of the armed forces.

The most coherent of that lot is Esther Mc Vey.

Probably because that's mainly what they get asked about these days, areas where they have to follow the party line.

they are a bunch of extremists.
True conservatives maybe? Their not my personal choice but I prefer the parties to revert to their true positions rather than the Blair & Cameron style of competing over the same spot in the middle of the road.

Corbyn's getting there, but both the Labour and Tory parties in parliament are internally divided. It might take a lot of deselection to solve that, but if ever achieved it would leave the centre space for the LibDems and give the electorate real choice.

I understand the logic of offering clear choices but the PM job is special, they must represent the conscience of the nation, thus paying attention also to those who did not vote for their party.
That's why I only liked John Major and Tony Blair as PM, they clearly are not perfect examples but tolerable.
