You are so right, but everyone can't be as good looking as me
This thread runs perfectly constructed industrial strength opinionation without the need for bots...Russian or otherwise...
But, I agree, he has a point, but to be honest Bots would make far fewer insults...
They would be programmed to make much more reasoned , polite posts than your normal patronising replies common on here.
Unless, ofcourse Bots have been trained to ride ebikes out of Whitby...if so I spotted one a while ago...bit wobbly tho...and none too steady on bike either..( I reckon Bots would be way better looking too, I was going to stop for a chat but thought it might make grandson cry)

I wasn't implying that bots are used in this thread. The reference to those was just an example of how the unaware masses can be manipulated. There are plenty of other ways innocent collectives of people can be infiltrated and manipulated.

On that I'm quite sure we agree, in the past the allegedly free press fulfilled that role, and still does, but directly addressing a person on Social Media has become the Battlefront for hearts and minds in what differs only in scale from Military Psychological Warfare.

It is merely a further step begun with free wireless receivers in the Third Reich. our own BBC Radio and TV, and then commercial TV aimed at creating a lifestyle image in the Public mind.

The time isn't so far away when we all have a chip implanted to give us permanent connection to the internet,as a means of dispensing with the expense of a long educational process, and individuality and independent thought and action a thing of the past.

What worries us now is a trifle compared to what is to come.

And not just online, supermarket/shop loyalty cards are another.
.
And the never ending list of Disaster Scenarios that have appeared during our lifetimes eg
The threat of Comunism
Running out of Energy
Strontium 90 poisoning
The Millenium Bug
Various pandemics that didn't happen

You could make a list of hundreds of these convenient Smokescreens designed to point the public towards agendas that can be exploited by the powers that be.

ideally give Parliament and the Lords the confidence that they can vote to keep us in the EU as it is what the country needs and wants.

Its all heading in that direction currently and I can't see anything stopping it now.
The Lords have just inflicted a seventh Brexit defeat on the government. Their new amendment gives parliament the right to reject whatever Brexit deal is reached, or even reject leaving without a deal.

If not further changed it gives parliament the right to to rule that we stay in the EU.

From the Daily Mirror
"
Sajid Javid's voting record shows he backed every element of Theresa May's controversial 'hostile environment' policy
Another one hiding past misdeeds to make himself seem the face of reason.
In th hope no one bothers to check his form.
But then he's a Tory.

He's a career politician first, he used to back Thatcher's policies, now he's backing Theresa May's. Who knows who or what he'll be backing next, other than himself.

As Mrs Brown might .Say .. "that's nice. ".. when she\ he means anything but.... But parliament does not have that freedom... The uk gave that away when they involked A50. This is all part of the fantasy affecting both sides of the British establishment in this matter. One side believes that they can have everything for nothing and the other that if they" say ok we are staying" that everything will be ok and just as it was before... It is no longer so and the uk will be depending on the goodwill of strangers.

We had a meeting today in Dundalk with Michael Barnier , our ministers and local businesses. As a retiree. I was not invited , but however... Ms Foster of the DUP had been complaining that the EU were not responsive to their issues . regarding the border issue in particular.and the prospect of a customs border in the Irish sea. His response was polite but could have said ..I am not representing you in this discussion.

My view - that I absolutely do NOT want any form of border - in the middle of the sea or anywhere else - between me in Wales and Northern Ireland seems to be entirely missing from discussion of this issue. (Mind, I don't want a border with the republic either.)

Some people seem very, even irresponsibly, relaxed over the impact of all this on two local ports - Pembroke Dock and Fishguard.
