Japanese auto makers threaten TM to pull out if access to the EU27 is not maintained.
Japanese firms do a better job stopping the hard brexiters than our MPs. They invest 54 billion Pounds a year here.

As fury continues to mount with the PM over the ongoing dither, Japan’s companies also issued a blunt warning to her yesterday.
Japan’s ambassador said after Mrs May’s round table in No10 with major employers including Nissan, Toyota and Honda that she must keep their access to Europe or risk their exodus.
Koji Tsuruoka said: “If there’s no profitability of continuing operations in the UK, no private company can continue operations. It is as simple as that. It is high stakes all of us need to keep in mind.”

It was always inevitable, Nissan et al were never going to just be satisfied with Theresa May's vague assurances.

I couldn't see BMW maintaining Oxford for the Mini either if there's any cross channel obstruction. Apparently some parts cross the channel four times during manufacturing stages, so any impedance would play havoc with their "just in time" production schedules.

Haven't we on here mentioned this on the odd occasion.

Oh Dear! another tory caught telling Porkies in the Daily Mail
"
Tory minister accuses the BBC of 'fake news' after telling David Dimbleby that she did not call Brexiteers ‘swivel-eyed’ – despite already apologising for the remark
  • Business and Energy Minister Claire Perry has blasted the BBC for 'fake news'
  • David Dimbleby quoted her 'swivel-eyed' Brexit remark on Question Time
  • And she had apologised for describing critics of the Brexit divorce bill that way
  • But when put to her again during last night's episode she denied the remarks

Perhaps it's a case of "Constructive Disambiguity" instead?

Guardian has yet another of those apparently unforeseen (and certainly un-warned-about by the brexiteers) consequences:

No-deal Brexit would trigger wave of red tape for UK drivers and hauliers
Britain would fall back on international treaties requiring new licences and registrations

https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2018/feb/08/no-deal-brexit-would-trigger-wave-of-red-tape-for-uk-drivers-and-hauliers

Who knows how the reality will pan out but the bizarre idea that our parking and crossing laws might have to change to conform to a different set of foreign powers is more somewhat ridiculous.

Now here's a novelty as my Irish wife is wont to say
"
The parent company of The Daily and Sunday Express and the Daily Star will be bought by the Trinity Mirror for £126.7m.

In a statement on Friday, Trinity Mirror, which owns the Daily Mirror, said that it was buying all of Richard Desmond's Northern & Shell’s publishing assets.

The deal follows months of talks. Back in September Trinity Mirror already said that it was in talks to buy the titles, which also include Ok! magazine."

Is the Fascist media to lose the "Der Sturmer"?
Fascinating!

Looks like BRINO is already agreed...

UK negotiators have been warned that the EU draft withdrawal agreement will stipulate that Northern Ireland will, in effect, remain in the customs union and single market after Brexit to avoid a hard border.

The uncompromising legal language of the draft agreement is likely to provoke a major row, something all parties to the negotiations have been trying to avoid.

British officials negotiating in Brussels were told by their counterparts that there could be a “sunset clause” included in the legally binding text, which is due to be published in around two weeks. Such a legal device would make the text null and void at a future date should an unexpectedly generous free trade deal, or a hitherto unimagined technological solution emerge that could be as effective as the status quo in avoiding the need for border infrastructure.

As it stands, however, the UK is expected by Brussels to sign off on the text which will see Northern Ireland remain under EU law at the end of the 21-month transition period, wherever it is relevant to the north-south economy, and the requirements of the Good Friday agreement.

If Northern Ireland is staying in the single market and customs union how does that work between NI and the rest of the UK? Will NI have its own special laws different to say England? Will the Irish Sea become the border? Will we have to charge tariffs for goods shipped between NI and the rest of the UK?.....that is impossible unless the rest stay in the single market and customs union.

BRINO....Brexit in name only....bet the Brexiters are not happy,hehe...

If NI, which voted remain, can have special treatment then why can't Scotland also have the same.

I see trouble ahead.

'Brexit' seems to be looking increasingly like a form of purgatory, self-inflicted on everyone in the UK by those who support the extreme-right and voted to leave the EU for all the worst reasons imaginable.

It has become clearer the longer this whole charade about negotiations drags on that the likelihood of any settlement that might benefit the country in the short or long-term future is only achievable within the warped fantasies of evil people and the imbecilic ignoramuses who voted for 'Brexit'.

Sadly, the tory media continues to lie to the nation about the economic realities ahead and relentlessly attacks and condemns the Labour Party as the enemies of the people.

I have a lot of time for the Shadow Chancellor as he restricts his comments regarding the economy to simple truths, as in the slashing of local government budgets which lead people to believe their local politicians are to blame, when the truth is that the national government are the bad guys.

Coupled with the disgraceful attacks on Jeremy Corbyn, it is not difficult to see that the tories are running scared, so scared that there are to depths to which they will not go in their efforts to cling on to power.

They really are despicable and disgusting people:

Co. Down, N. Ireland, U.K.
Michel Barnier has just today made clear that N.I isn't going to get special treatment. He's baldly stated that with our departure, border checks will be in full force.
.

LOL...

ROI don`t want Border checks
N.I. don`t want Border checks
U.K. Gov. don`t want border check

so who does that leave?

Yep, Bellend Barnier... let him and the EU go ahead and put in border checks!

...and Good luck with that one!

You do realise the EU doesn't want us to leave don't you? They don't want border checks.

The issue is we want to leave... and I think the phrase was "control our borders" wasn't it?

Its pretty pointless to want to just control some of the border.

I'm shocked that so many who voted leave can't see this is more complex than ... x doesn't want etc etc.

But then, as someone once said, everything seems simple to simple people.

everything seems simple to simple people.
sometimes people look at too many variables and give up.
you can abstract brexit to just one word: take back control.
the rest can be sorted out by experts.

point proven... "take back control" is a) 3 words... and b) a total nonsense, based on the fact that we never lost contol.

This is why Brexit will fail. because it can't deliver impossible dreams.

The experts know it can't be sorted, no matter how popular it might be.

Just like if we voted for 5 day weekends, and 2 day weeks.
