At long last, the temporary führer leader of the fascist mass murdering hordes tory party has come clean about the effect 'Brexit' will have upon different areas of the UK:

Actually that was the reason people here voted for Brexit, thinking things would change for the better, as it was they were told all the fault in the EU and Millions of immigrants, and by Voting for Brexit they would give the Government a "Fright" and it would change it's ways.
They were so naive it's sad, and many still cling to that forlorn illusion!

They will be a bit cross when they discover what the Government have in mind for them.

I don't know about dealbreaker but it really will be heartbreaking for millions in the UK if we are forced to continue producing such classics as 'Boom bang a bang', 'Sing little birdie' or 'Jack in the box'.

The only potentially good news I can see in 'Brexit' is that we might be disqualified from further song contests.......moreover, if it were to be announced tomorrow that our football nations were also to be disbarred from European competitions, there would be mass disobedience in pursuit of special dispensation or mass demands for a further referendum.

Anyone reading this verse will now be haunted by the lyric for the next 24 hours....guaranteed!

I wonder if one day that,
You'll say that, you care
If you say you love me madly,
I'll gladly, be there
Like a puppet on a string

Tom
Oh well, if we are being lyrical, I have two liner about the Conservatives.

Back to the matter of tory corruption and how it has manifested itself recently in the case of their preferred partner in many projects, it came about something like this:

(Borrowed from a chum..)

Three contractors are bidding to refurbish the fence at 10 Downing street. One is from Birmingham another is from Liverpool, and the third is some bloke from London.

All three go with a Downing Street official to examine the fence. The Brummie contractor takes out a tape measure and does some measuring, then works some figures with a pencil. "Well," he says, "I figure the job will run about £900. £400 for materials, £400 for my crew, and £100 profit for me."

The Scouse contractor also does some measuring and figuring, then says, "I can do this job for £700. £300 for materials, £200 for my crew, and £200 profit for me."

The bloke from London doesn't bother to measure or figure, but leans over to the Downing Street official and whispers, "£2,700."

The official, incredulous, says, "You didn't even measure like the others! How did you come up with such a high figure?" The bloke whispers back, £1000 for me, £1000 for you, and we hire the guy from Liverpool to do the job."

"Done!" replies the government official.....
And that is how Carillion was born.....

There is some very familiar consumer advice contained in that exposition of 'the tory way'!

Proof, if proof were needed, is contained in this squirm-inducing interview with a well-placed government spokesman:

Tom
Someone somewhere must have Voted this man into parliament, and once that mistake had been made then went for broke and promoted him?
To international Trade Minister?

NEVER! WHO WOULD BE STUPID ENOUGH TO DO THAT?

No I'm sorry this has to be fake news.
Please tell me it is?

Slightly out Tom. Because Liverpool is cash starved and deprived and the Liverpool guy hasn't got any work, the London guy employs him on a zero hours contract to do the job, and any other he wants done.

Yes Dan, that's all great craic... but,

you`re still nowhere near to solving your present dilemma, ie your neighbour leaving the EU with all it`s ramifications to the ROI.
I have given you folk a rational `get out of jail` card..

no more border issue, your own regional Assembly, trading within the UK, no restraints, and now a big plus, trade with the rest of the world,

spell out the negatives?
I grant you that it is rational and there is a small body of wealthy people living on the eastern seaboard who would concur with you. We call them. West brits.
ROI Ireland took leave from the mainland uk in 1922 or if you prefer 1949 and in the preceding century had been bled dry by the British state. In the period post 1922 there was a vindictive campaign waged against irish goods and people in the uk.
Only post 1972 and the accession to the EEC was ireland capable of growing its exports into countries not the uk. You would need to be simple minded , and i am not suggesting you are to think that we would willingly forsake the levels of independence we have achieved.
Had there been changes of mindset in Westminster and official Britain an accommodation along the lines of IONA islands of the north Atlantic and a federation with equal say by the different entities .... things might be different but the posturing of the british establishment prior to christmas continues to prove that the leopard or perhaps hyena has not changed its spots.
The result if the uk continues in its current direction will be a gradual erosion of british influence in retail and an increase in european... tesco being replaced by carrefour. Boots chemists disappearing. Halfords currys being replaced by Declaton etc...

How times have changed, as a child I lived on things like Bubble and squeak, fried egg beans and chips, corned beef hash, and French toast, (Bread dipped in beaten egg and fried) usually served with Baked beans, and in Summer, salad served with wafer thin meat you could just about see through!
Sunday dinner was the exception when there was actually something other than potatos in the way of vegetables.Carrots too!
And there was usually on Friday Fish and Chips with Mushy peas in greaseproof paper and newspaper along with diced mint leaves in Vinegar.
No Chicken of course, except on Christmas Day
On holiday outings with British Rail Holiday runabout tickets mother used to make Cheese and tomato sandwiches the night before and wrap them in greaseproof paper, next day they had a unique soggy texture and a flavour I can still remember with delight.
Happy Days
Chicken was a luxury in the 1960s. Beef was available but mutton was the staple meat... distribution channels were poorly developed.. so that rural villages only thirty miles from the sea had to do with salted fish... however in some coastal communities mackeral was so plentiful that you woukd get sick of it.

Yes, the UK can still enter Eurovision, as could Russia again.

It's a geographic European competition with no connection to the EU.
.
It is part of the cultural baggage linked with the EU. What people might see as "soft power" . A method of uniting peoples in quasi competive actions...
In the same way as the british anglician missionaries of the 19th century were not part of the imperial machine.

Not so, it precedes the EU and has no linkage, being originally a geographic competition:

The European Broadcasting Union (EBU; French: Union européenne de radio-télévision, UER) is an alliance of public service media organisations, established on 12 February 1950. The organisation is made up of 73 Members in 56 countries,[2] and 34 Associate Members from a further 20 countries.[3] It is best known for producing the Eurovision Song Contest. It also hosted debates between candidates for the European Commission presidency for the 2014 parliamentary elections but is unrelated to the institution itself.

Been there. Done that... Mackerel is a bait fish for me now, I don't mind it smoked but my tolerance stops there.

Yes agreed not a causal legal relationship , but very much linked .. the era was one of cooperation between the estwhile enemies of six years previously. The Coal and steel memorandum , forerunner to the EEC was within a year.
Anyway it would be very normal to have international cooperation between national broadcasters.. sharing the outputs of orchestras and sports events
