This from the Independent
"
EU demands in next round of talks set to enrage Cabinet Brexiteers, leak reveals
Exclusive: Papers passed to The Independentshow a good transition deal will be conditional on UK accepting new EU rules during the two-year period
EU negotiators are already laying the groundwork to hit the UK with demands in the next stage of Brexit talks that are unacceptable to key figures in Theresa May’s Cabinet, The Independent can reveal.

Leaked documents show chief EU negotiator Michel Barnier wants to make giving the UK a good transition deal conditional on Britain’s “automatic” acceptance of new Brussels regulations during the likely two-year period after March 2019.

Clear evidence that we have imbeciles in high office, naturally if you want a transition you have to obey the rules and regulations.

The arrogance of these pro Brexit politicians of ours is breathtaking, a transition period is desperately needed(well those of them with a few operational brain cells want that ) and the rest get enraged when there are obvious and necessary strings attached?

Let's face it they are bent on destruction of the nation, it's economy, the rights of the public and care only for whoever pays the piper and calls the tune.
Not us the voters.

right, lets fast-forward to the new referendum..

Result is..
Remain 52% Leave 48%

What now? Best of 3 or what?

and will we have to endure another long-winded whingefest here on Pedelecs??
Cancel it of course, have you a problem with that? clearly there is no clear mandate as Nigel Farage said
" If the Referendum vote is 52% remain and 48% leave that's not the end of the matter, Only a two to one vote would kill the issue, otherwise it is just work in progress"
Remember that?
It should have been cancelled as not only was the result inconclusive, it was advisory only.

The new referendum should carry the caveat of needing 2 to 1 support for leaving.
That is how Democratic referendums normally work.
For something this important so small a margin is no mandate. and even Farage agreed with that when it suited him.
And it should include the expats who live in the EU and also be compulsory.

It would already be the best of 3:

1975 Remain

2016 Leave

2017/8 Remain

So it's 2 to 1 Remain
.

A good question. My suggestion would be
1. Set a threshold which is unambiguous 50% of voters +1 is not a good threshold. I could imagine a 60% margin from the status quo ante as a reasonable margin for change
2.Allow all interested uk subjects have a vote... That would include those no longer living on the mainland , but include all British passport holders.
3. Provide all documentation now available ... Including those reports currently suppressed by the British cabinet and any of the papers. Since the uk government would be entering a new set of negotiations, their publication would not compromise anything. They should also have available any of the EU documents tabled to date. An electroral commission, independent of any side should provide authorative interpretations.
4. There should be a specific minimum turnout in order for the poll to be valid.

Under those conditions, nobody could whinge if the British public want to commit hari kiri.
In any event the last poll always counts, everything previous is old news. Old stuff doesn't count.

Or you can use the latest EU preferred method of drawing straws as they did in solving the Agency impasse vote.

We haven't even left the EU yet but here we get a taste of how employers will operate once freed from the 'red tape and bureaucracy' surrounding workers' rights.

This is absolutely despicable by Tesco and without workplace safeguards in place, we will soon be back to the days of queuing up outside the factory or dockyard/container port, (if any such places still exist), to be picked for a full day's work, just to prevent the kids from starving to death.

Better than being blackmailed as happens here, though you are actually accurately describing the motivation behind large numbers of Brexit Voters during the referendum, who had no clue as to the consequences of their vote, or the facts of the situation. And lets face it, want to know even less now as it makes them look silly.
How could they have known when the ringleaders of the leave campaign knew even less?
And have spent the intervening time in trying to do two things
  1. Justify the lies and Broken promises
  2. Rip off the public and make a personal profit
Or is it starry skies and unicorns and every wish fulfilled rather than 17 years of Pay Cuts ahead?

So please tell us how do you solve a 50/50 tie in a vote after several rounds? Pick the stupidest solution and stamp "will of the people" on the result?

a soft brexit.
Labour seems to have the right brexit policy at the moment.

Just a suggestion - refer it to the EU parliament for a vote i.e.a democratic decision as the reduced Council was unable to make it.
