If it did it was a brief journey.
Blair has been a remainer for some time, at least since his speech in 2012 on Europe.
The short term politics are clear: being anti-Europe is today popular. However leadership is not about conceding to the short-terms politics. It is about managing the short-term politics in the pursuit of the right long-term policy.
That was in 2012.

http://www.tonyblairoffice.org/news/entry/tony-blair-urges-uk-to-shape-the-future-of-europe/.

He is a far better presenter than Kenneth Clarke.
His role in the Iraq war is clear for all to see but if Mrs May were in his place, would she have said no to a US President?

Wonder how many leavers Blair has now created ? Even Tom is thinking about changing his stance, emphasing his right and ability to do a swift *U" when called for....get full lock and that handbrake applied OG, you,ll soon be swinging, mindst, you,ve been doing that in co op window for a while..
Trump seems to have stopped trumping..is that a new verb or a retake on an old one ??

"the debilitation of Labour is the facilitator of brexit"
I can agree with that.
Totally agree, but who has contributed 2nd most to disappearance of Labour? Blair..seems rather coincidental he resurfaces now and gets coverage he did ?
He,s reuniting country, perhaps unintentionally but perhaps not ?
The moment his speech was televised number of leavers jumped..
Nice one Tom, he,s actually quite endearing at side of Blair ( and OG)
Did you take picture passing co op near Hull ?

I have been heartened by news that Tony Blair has given BREXIT a massive boost this week. Now that Tony's vision is closely aligned to that of OG & old tom, I imagine that he has become a Champion for them. Tony Blair, The Remainers' Champion is quite catchy and I think I like it :)

I suspect that The Remainers' Champion has caught the stench of power in his nostrils. The merest whiff has been sufficient to awaken him and now the false prophet prowls within the living rooms of old tom, and old groaner, and the others.

The Remainers' Champion (TRC) knows that Labour are crippled and that this has given May many more yards of rope than she actually needs to hang herself. I suspect that she now has sufficient rope for a long drop technique with a clean, decisive and efficient kill at the end. It is at this point where I believe thatTRC can see himself stepping into the eye of the perfect storm and taking full advantage.

I'm affraid it is time for Corbyn to leave. Rising Labour star Chumbawamba seems to be playing a canny game. He probably sensed this current situation developing and that was the reason for him pulling out of the Labour leadership contest. Next time will be the best time.

Anyway, I shal leave the Remainers to worship their Champion at the alter of Blair.

Shame Vauxhall is historically a strong marque in the UK. Not sure how many years?
KudosDave
Started manufacture in Luton, Britain in 1903. Released the Vauxhall Carlton in 1978 as the model to celebrate 75 years of manufacture here. Remembered because I received a Carlton company car then.

In 2002, one year short of their centenary, they shut Vauxhall car production at their Luton plant, switching it to vans only, so they couldn't release a 100 year model. (Their other plant at Ellesmere Port is only an assembly plant for the Opel/Vauxhall Astra.)

I think Keir Starmer would be a good leader of the Labour Party with Harriet Harmer as deputy,a role she should have been offered previously.
Jeremy Corbyn can go off to join the communists,he would be in his comfort zone there and already has the right hat, sorry I mean the left hat, hehe.
Keir Starmer is a lawyer, like Blair and Obama, the very nature of that job of persuading others is a good route into politics.
If Corbyn doesn't stand aside and realise that he is not good for Labour and actually not good for the UK ,the Labour MP's have tried to rid themselves of him, many must be thinking that a new party is needed,a centre left to oppose May's right wing and Tony Blair could be the catalyst to achieve that, there are potentially 16 million Remainers and god knows how many disgruntled Leavers if Brexit proves a disaster. Blair has put May and Boris under pressure, not about Brexit but about this government making a success of it,if they fail I can see a new party under Starmer,Harmer,Osborne,Mandelson,Soubry, maybe in coalition with the SNP and the Liberals. MAY CANNOT FAIL BREXIT IF SHE WANTS A FUTURE POST 2020. That is a good thing.

I agree with some of your suggestions except Keir Starmer and Harriet Harmen. Starmer was formerly the head of The Crown Prosecution Service and like May was to the Home Office, he was a total failure to the CPS. Harmen, in addition to also being a lawyer, which is bad enough in itself, she is also a psychopath and a danger to the public. She really needs to be kept under lock and key out of harms way.

I think Chuka Umunna will make his move soon enough. Again, another effing lawyer, but he does seem to have his head screwed on the right way round which is a good start. I think he will be good for Labour if he can unseat Corbyn. Maybe offer Corbyn a position in a shadow cabinet?

Really, we need a good clear out of MPs. Lawyers seem drawn to politics like flies are drawn to a pale of shite. It would be nice to see some real MPs from successful backgrounds emerge.

There are a lot of parallels to Blair and May,Iraq War and Brexit.
Tony Blair had to cuddle up to Bush, like May has to cuddle up to Trump to maintain the one sided 'special relationship' with the powerful US,both cuddles were/are against the majority of the wishes of the British people.
Blair used the Labour Whip to bulldoze through a decision to take us to war with Iraq,May is using the Tory Whip to push through taking us out of Europe, both situations are against the will of parliament and against a large number of the British people.
The Iraq War was a bad decision based upon lies,Brexit may prove a bad decision based upon lies.
We seem to make a habit of not learning from previous mistakes.
Perhaps the Lords will prove our saviour.

Was Trump really a successful businessman,he was left millions by his Dad.
Anyone who has been involved in property management and development knows that it is easy to make money out of property as long as you don't overstretch, which Trump obviously did. The first million is the most difficult million.

I know what you are saying, but I think we should give him a chance. Let's judge him in 12 to 18 months time. everyone deserves a chance to prove themselves or otherwise.

Trump says about the biased media. I have to say that the put down on Blair's speech by the Murdoch controlled right wing press has been extreme. Remember, there is no love lost between Murdoch and Blair,Murdoch's ex-wife,Wendi Deng was very friendly with Blair, she commented on Blair's fit body, hehe.

Isn't much of politics based on lies or a distortion of the truth??
