Starmer was formerly the head of The Crown Prosecution Service and like May was to the Home Office, he was a total failure to the CPS.
Agreed, and I think he has some very outdated ideas on justice and its administration.

Lawyers seem drawn to politics like flies are drawn to a pale of shite.
And unfortunately often seem able to quickly dominate key cabinet positions in both Conservative and Labour governments.

I don't think ex barristers' skills are suited to running a country. They aren't by nature problem solvers, more problem creators.

Isn't much of politics based on lies or a distortion of the truth??
It has to be. The only truth is the known present, and a perennially dissatisfied electorate isn't going to vote for that.

Be careful for what you wish for, do we not have an example from accross the pond of the successful business man turned politician busy draining swamps
Such examples as we've had indicate that neither lawyers nor businessmen make good politicians.

Maybe a government of successful doctors and service engineers, people used to analysing problems and successfully applying solutions is the answer.

For the benefit of 'Tillson', it's 'a pail of', not 'a pale of', in case you wondered about the spelling error.

That apart 'Tillson', are you absolutely sure you support giving 'Trump the thump' a year or 18 months to prove himself? Check this out: (I'm presuming you've heard this speech from Florida).......

Tom
Quite right thank you. Pail of shite it is!

Wonder how many leavers Blair has now created ? Even Tom is thinking about changing his stance, emphasing his right and ability to do a swift *U" when called for....get full lock and that handbrake applied OG, you,ll soon be swinging, mindst, you,ve been doing that in co op window for a while..
Trump seems to have stopped trumping..is that a new verb or a retake on an old one ??
There really isn't any chance whatever that you will accidentally talk sense is there?
Never mind, as I said before you do provide a comedy element to the proceeding.

I do wish that the mutual admiration society would just give up on the name calling. It is beyond tedious.
Agreed but this wasn't name calling was it?

I would have thought you only need emotionally intelligent and goodhearted people to form a good government. The role of ministers is usually to go on TV and explain why things go pear shaped.

We usually elect quite a few of those. Unfortunately they mostly don't get to act as cabinet ministers, being cast in the role of sheep instead.

Unfortunately this quote from Groucho is more akin to what we actually get!

"The secret of life is honesty and fair dealing. If you can fake that, you've got it made. Groucho Marx

My vote would be to give the job to the Room full of Monkeys working on a rewrite of Brexit, a midsummer night's scream"
