From the Express this morning
"
REVEALED: Meddling Juncker told Theresa May to call election - which could derail Brexit
THERESA May was urged to hold the General Election by Jean-Claude Juncker to make negotiating Brexit easier.
The President of the European Commission apparently advised the British Prime Minister that her 17-seat majority would not be enough during exit talks.

Mr Juncker allegedly claimed a larger majority would help Ms May during “pinch points”, such as establishing the sum of the UK’s divorce bill.

But it seems Mr Juncker’s advice has now served to put Mrs May on a weaker footing as negotiations approach, as she faces calls to resign."

Apparently the Express is attempting to make itself a Rival to TM in the utter stupidity stakes.

So we are to believe that the big bad EU is to blame are we?
The problem with that is what the heck is Mrs "Taking back control" doing letting the EU tell her what to do, when she famously doesn't listen to her own ministers?
Truly we need the Tory party to simply resign en masse

Remember the phrase, 'Taking back control'? Now we have the government that coined the phrase only able to continue by giving away the ability to exercise control to a party in Ireland, an area strongly in favour of remaining within the EU.

How about, 'strong and stable'? Gove, you're sacked! - Gove, please come back...all is forgiven!

There's a common thread running through the tory party's woes at the moment. Can you guess what it is?

Let me guess "Kismet?"

I think the Express has discovered a new level of stupidity. A level that I had previously thought impossible achieve.

I suspect as the Americans would say
"Brother ya aint seen nuthin yet!"
I guess any news that diverts attention from the Conservatives, no matter how absurd will get column inches from now on, and they are not the only rag to run this story either!

I note from the Reader comments they are all trying to pretend none of this detracts from her historic victory of gaining the most votes ever.

Can anyone throw light on this claim? I'm bound to say that if it's libellous, then given the desperate plight of the PM and her crumbling government, its author should be prosecuted. Otherwise....??

On a lighter note, here is a tweet outlining how someone perceives the DUP manifesto in N Ireland:

Does anyone know how we can escape this weird version of reality and get back to the normal universe?
This from the Mirror
"
Police arrest eight after protest led by former EDL leader Tommy Robinson in Manchester city centre 'turned nasty'
Eyewitnesses reported that smoke canisters and bottles had been thrown as EDL-style protest led by Tommy Robinson clashed with counter protesters."
Forgive me if I get this wrong..

It was apparently supposed to be a silent protest against "Extremists" however the fact that it was organised and led by an allegedly reformed Extremist from the EDL seems to have caused a reaction from a group of Anti Fascist people regarding themselves as "None Extremists"

This led to an outbreak of Extremist behaviour from unknown members of the Public who happened by chance to be carrying smoke canisters and other missiles, who may, or may not have belonged to either group.

Fortunately 400 of the police happened to be in the area enjoying the sunshine in their Riot gear, and restored order in the usual restrained and casual manner.
GMP issued a statement on Twitter earlier on Sunday, which read: “There is a demonstration taking place in Piccadilly Gardens this afternoon, please avoid the area if possible until protesters have finished.”

What is worrying, is that firstly this happened at all, and that it is only a harbinger of things to come, not helped by the Government making mad alliances with an extremist group, which while possibly not the cause of this particular disturbance, is likely to lead to more of the same.

If May isn't forced out of office soon, I guarantee that the next manifesto will include something derived from 'The Hunger Games'!

Clearly, something radical needs to be done about people's ability to speak out and criticise her leadership and governance of the common people - I'm sure I'm not alone in imagining she has watched that series of films and thought, 'That's exactly what's required - sod bringing back foxhunting; let's just hunt down the plebs and make the season all year round.'

This is President Snow:

I go away for a couple of weeks and look at the Mayhem .
17 million voted to leave in the referendum , only 12 million voted for May, so what happened to the 5 million? After all May is the Leavers champion?
Fickle lot these Leavers?
I am amused that Labour kicked out Brazier in my local constituency. He was a useless old f...., , 10,000 young people decided they preferred Labour,Canterbury had been Tory for 167 years!!!'
For me the election worked out perfectly,May must now explore a soft Brexit or No Brexit,Corbin didn't get enough seats to get power and wreck business.
Finding it all great entertainment and maybe the biggest joke Boris may end up PM. Almost makes Trump look a sensible choice.
I voted wisely for the Monster Raving Looney Party, liked their manifesto, hehe
Kudos'still sitting in the sunshine'Dave.
Tell me when it's safe to come home?

My news is a bit sketchy out here but do I gather that the DUP are not keen on controlling immigration?
For many people that was the only reason we were leaving.
It also appears that the Scottish conservatives and the DUP want to stay in the stay in the single market.
If that is the case what is the point of leaving ..,,.,oh I forgot 'nothing has changed '

Yes it definitely has to be either a soft Brexit or no Brexit now. There is and never was any mandate for a hard Brexit or leaving the Common Market, for these reasons:

1) The very close result in the referendum.

2) The fact that so many Leavers protest that they only agreed to a Common Market, not the EU, this underlined by the 1975 referendum with 70% wanting to stay in the Common Market.

3) The large election swing against the Tories and their hard Brexit/leave Common Market policies.

Oh, and it's safe for you to come home now Dave, just don't walk across any bridges.

Boris's plea for the Tory MP's to back May reminds me of the classic moment in "Dads Army" when Corporal Jones reassures Captain Manwaring.

I have complete Faith in you Captain Manwaring!

I got back to the UK in time to vote Labour in the GE but I quite understand that you have business to attend to elsewhere Dave.

The election and its ramifications continue to occupy the headlines and it appears that it ain't over yet.....the fat lady hasn't sung.

If you can get back for Friday Dave, there's a do on at the Red Lion on Parliament St to celebrate TM's leaving. So far there are 33,000 confirmed attendees with another 67,000 considering it. The open invitation is widely available on mainstream social media but I should get in quick as numbers are certain to rise and the landlord is already having kittens trying to get extra staff for the event.
