Brexit, for once some facts.

they are hedging their bets like you would buy Euros in advance when the rate is good. I bought some last month at 1.18.
In about 6 months, the picture will get clearer, the Pound languishing at 2 month low at the moment may recover a bit.
I am thinking of putting my prices up by 3%-4% at the end of March.
hedging their bets, ie planning. Yes of course. But its been said that if we leave the single market lots of companies will leave. That was described as "fear mongering" I can assure you its real.

3-4% rise isn't as big as most. But that's above the current rate of inflation, so are you, like me, expecting inflation to continue to rise?

I expect there is a price of uncertainty for a while, for most people, that's 3% inflation for 2017 and 2018. For traders like myself, it's the exchange rate.

I'm guessing you've seen this David?

"OLAF calculated that U.K. customs’ “continuous negligence” deprived the EU of €1.987 billion in revenues in lost duties on Chinese merchandise. The highly sophisticated organized crime network also stripped €3.2 billion from the value-added-tax income of major EU countries such as France, Germany, Spain and Italy, the investigators said. "

Yep,I am fed up with chasing HMRC....they dont seem to want to stop it.
Post Brexit,I suspect that the borders between the UK and EU will be tightened up by the EU,but the dumping will continue into the UK.
Dover and Northern Ireland will be smuggling hubs.
Its easy to stop, buy a product and chase for the vat invoice....no vat invoice seize the goods at the fulfilment warehouse, until correct duty has been paid, fine the seller (or e-bay) for vat dishonest trading, then sell the goods auction,it will soon stop the chinese if they think they are going to lose the goods,

If I may refer back to Flecc's observations again
"
Then once achieving the necessary much lower wages and living standards with a balanced economy, the government will then negotiate rejoining the EU. With the economy then in balance and us being even better placed in EU trading as a result, they will be able to present the brighter outcome as being due to their successful management.

This whole program will take nearer ten years than five to complete."

The plan on the face of it seems a good one, but there is a major flaw.
The Mood of both the leave and the Remain voters.

Neither camp is accustomed to have to make sacrifices and will rapidly become disillusioned to the point where trouble will surface.

All it will require is someone the like of Farage to open his big mouth and Pandora's Box in the process

I would be VERY happy to eat my hat. I don't want to be right on this.

I want the UK to be successful.

However prior to the vote, I spoke to a number of people I know who run businesses that are based in the UK and represent US brands that use the UK to access the EU market. They all said they'd expect to see their HQs move to the EU.

and now guess what... its being proven to be true.

http://uk.businessinsider.com/study-brexit-us-economic-impact-single-market-american-chamber-of-commerce-to-eu-report-2017-3

LONDON — Leaving the European Union's single market could put at risk the future of 1.4 million jobs and an accumulated $593 billion of direct investment from US companies in Britain, according to a prominent US business group.
Thats frightening, still if the pound drops much more,we will be able to sell property easily to the chinese and europeans.

True, but any such trouble will no doubt be dealt with by force, court cases and harsh punishments, akin to what we saw after the riots of 1990 and 2011.

God you are a frustrating guy to have a discussion with,I asked a very straightforward question.....'if the divorce settlement was £50 billion would you be happy to pay that?
KudosDave
And I gave a very straightforward reply. It depends on the exit deal.

I doubt very much whether 'tillson' and the other 'Brexit' fans who occasionally reveal their stupidity in these pages will ever come to understand just how much their favoured political party lies to them and to the British public in general.

'Vox Political' has once again nailed an example of how tory corruption is not just prevalent in the PCP, it goes all the way to the PM's office.

Tory government is all about lying, cheating and corruption, all stuff that is easily swallowed by the simpletons in our society because they don't know any better and believe the headlines in the media, not quite grasping the fact that the tory Party and mainstream TV and newspaper media is one and the same thing.

This is the Surrey story that won't be splashed across the front pages:

I liked yesterday's budget, particularly the investment in Grammar Schools.
meanwhile...

Parents and MPs sent warning on school cuts

The parents of about half a million pupils in England are being sent a letter on Thursday warning of cuts to schools because of funding shortages.

The heads of almost every school in Essex, West Sussex, East Sussex and Cornwall have written a joint letter warning of budgets at "breaking point".

They say it will mean staff cuts, bigger class sizes and fewer support services, such as for mental health.
This is effecting an infant school (5–7 yo) where I'm a governor with an increasing intake / class sizes - and the headteacher has a choice between laying staff off or working herself into an early grave by taking on more responsibilities.

On this technically complex issue, a qualitative response is adequate and that is probably what we have got.
If it turns out we were wrong, then we can always change our mind later, but if we are right, will you eat your hat?
I'd hazard a guess that fair proportion voted Brexit just because Remain was fronted by Tory leader and PM Cameron to be contary / protest at him / the establishment. Little did they realise that in a short space of time they would end up with May (Theresa May speech on staying in EU (25Apr16)) and an even more right wing government driving hell for leather for the cliff edge before they can be stopped.
