All good so far .
Damn kids could never stay indoors: shopping, work, seeing friends etc. etc... bloomin nightmare. Maybe they were trying to usher in their (meagre) inheritance or something.

Have all of your household had Delta? I also considered putting the (grown up) kids up in a AirBnB, for the period they were infectious, but it's hard to know precisely when that is. They've moved out again since.
Nobody in my household has has any Covid before now. Both I and my wife have had the 3 jabs ..in my case all Pfizer, my wife 2AZ and a Pfizer . Our daugher 2 AZ and a Moderna ,about 3 days ago. Only my son, who lives and works in Dublin, but was on a bit of leave, had the positive LFT and only the 2 jabs. He is certainly ill at present, with those classical Covid Complaints of rigours, poor taste sensation .. although it has not affected appetite.

Judging by past posts on the Brexit thread, a dicky heart thread might have much more interaction from more pedelecers, than just us two.
I think a lot of people get into ebikes because of recognising potential heart conditions ... But me , I was just lazy ..or so I thought!.

At first, I thought this Brexit thread was a dicky ticker hotspot because of age... but quite honestly, I now think it's because ebikes ruin health! After converting my unused Dahon folder with a Bafang BBsS01b, I stopped slow jogging, put on weight and my fitness has nosedived ever since. To be fair, I've configured my firmware to ensure my knees don't hurt, consequently I ghost pedal at speed up hills, down dales and across plains for dozens of miles at a time, while not getting any sort of exercise whatsoever. I've started slow jogging again, which reduces knee pain and actually gets me fitter. I swear ebiking will kill me otherwise.

Labour is leading the poll since beginning of December, currently about 7%.

False alarm though, it's just a rather severe cold. No high temperature, persistent cough or loss of taste, so lacking Covid qualifications.
You might want to take a LFT just to be sure. I heard the other day that around 50% of people with cold like symptoms in London have actually got Omicron.

Also the loss of taste is much less common with Omicron than it is with the other variants. Here are the top 5 symptoms that people with Omicron are reporting here in the UK.

1. Runny nose
2. Headache
3. Fatigue (mild or severe)
4. Sneezing
5. Sore throat

I and I am sure the rest of you have had many colds in the past with just these types of symptoms, that's why an awful lot of people think they have a cold when they really have Omicron.

Thanks Nev. I have only got number 1 though and right on schedule on day three it's beginning to clear in typical cold fashion.

I certainly don't want to go out searching for an LFT test kit while it's as cold as it is a present, I suffer far too severely from the cold to risk that. It's why I shopped on Monday morning, the last mild day.

Anyway my possible LFT positive wouldn't even show in the numbers they've already got !

Question: If I took a lateral flow test while laying down, would it then be a vertical flow test? ;)

fully agree with you flecc. If one had a number of LFTs available .. and we now have a few in the house, i would keep them in abeyance until one really felt ill. Our evidence with my son, is that even if one feels bad, the amount of antibodies initially is insufficient to trigger the threshold, but waiting another 12 hours will... . Then one every 2 or 3 days after one feels one is recovering . The LFTs are an excellent confirmation of established infection, but not a very sensitive test for onset.

Being a stranger to testing I did have a look in *.gov online at LFT availability, only to see the advice that I should NOT take an LFT test if showing symptoms of Covid. The advice was to take a PCP test in that instance.

With such a wide range of possible symptoms of Covid, that seems to really narrow the occasions one should use an LFT.

All a bit puzzling.

Slightly different at Zoe:

Here is the current ranking of COVID symptoms after 2 vaccinations:
  1. Runny nose
  2. Headache
  3. Sneezing
  4. Sore throat
  5. Persistent cough
The previous ‘traditional’ symptoms as still outlined on the government website, such as anosmia (loss of smell), shortness of breath and fever rank way down the list, at 6, 29 and 8 respectively. A persistent cough now ranks at number 5 if you’ve had two vaccine doses, so is no longer the top indicator of having COVID.

I can understand antagonism to mandates. It might be more sensible to recognise that you can disagree with the legal imposition but still get vaccinated.

California prosecutor who campaigned against vaccine mandates dies of Covid
Kelly Ernby, who recently ran for the state assembly, was unvaccinated at the time of her death, husband says

.
A PCR is the bigger more expensive gold standard , takes longer is more accurate than LFT . PCR is second only to a full sequencing . The LFT is the cheapest option . The problem is that one might have NO Symptoms , and still be a full blown infected person ... up to 30% of people are in that category .In which case the LFT will detect an infection ...( probably ) .
so As the Irish authorities see it .
1. If you are feeling ill and take a LFT and it proves Negative ... the result is meaningless.
2. If you are feeling ill and take a LFT and it proves Positive .. That is a very sure sign of some Covid infection , and should be followed by a PCR.
3. If you feel fine and take a LFT and it proves Negative .... chances at least 2/3 are you don't have Covid
4. If you feel fine and take a LFT and it proves Positive ... you have Covid.
5* If you have recently had a vaccine and take an LFT it will read a false Positive ( this one courtesy of my daughter )

"Unboxed" sounds like a YouTube video or so - of highly self-indulgent individuals showing off what they can afford.
