We both know the likely ( or unlikely, depending how you see it) increasing of our horizons is subjective at moment and totally dependant on negotiating trade deals, agreeing taxes, tarrifs etc etc ( and possibly paying eu compensation for reduction of their markets, as has happened in past)
Personally think these talks will end up beneficial to us, but hopefully that's exactly what MPs and Civil Servants are looking into now. Perhaps if they end up agreeing with your opinion they will not invoke art 50, if they come to conclusion along my thinking ( gleaned fron Peter Hargreaves) they should invoke art 50.
I just hope they discuss, study the correct issues rather than listening to the BS/ rhetoric from both sides..
There are a lot of closed minds on both sides. This could be an opportunity for us, it could be detrimental. Surely that's what we pay civil servants, MPs to decide.

In other words you confirm by that statement that you will continue making scurrilous attacks until prevented, you are simply an irittant by your own admission and wasting my time.
Why are you still here?
I already told you. Re read the post.
I have to listen to your posts, I assure you they sound very patronising. If I listened to them in pub I,d walk away..

This post is another example of a gratuitous attack for no other purpose than to gain a response and create an argument
It has nothing whatever to do with the thread
Why do you keep doing this?
isn't it time you found somewhere else to vent your arrogance and ill temper and leave us in peace?
Do everyone a favour
Post something connected with the thread and keep your personal attacks to yourself
Your post was, on the credit side and excellent Self portrait, after all you came on here to be a trouble causer didn't you? and you are.
It's classic, S.O.P. troll behaviour OG. He has become progressively worse of late and has now got to a point where he simply argues with everything posted by those who criticise his views and/or his presence on this forum, regardless of any merit the offering may have.

It is rather tiresome but if those who monitor the forum and moderate see fit to allow him to continue though he has no connection or affiliation with electrically-assisted cycling, I can put up with his juvenile disturbance of the peace, as it were.

I do try to ignore his posts as much as possible but he does rather get in the way of matters at times which is strange as I recall him saying ages ago that he would place certain of us on ignore....or perhaps it was just me he meant. Actually, I thought he said he would leave the forum as we were all wrong in the way we interpreted forum rules and he didn't like it.

Perhaps he just lied?

The really big issue is, having reached 500 pages and 10,000 posts, five times the size of the previous record, will my thread go on to reach 1000 pages and 20,000 posts? :)

Keep it going guys!

I did ask him why he was still here, this was his answer when I asked him to stop making these attacks.
"According to you...when mods ask me to modify I would..in mean time hard luck. I,ll carry on pointing out what a PITA you and Tom actually are."

Not much hope for improvement there is there?

Why does staying in the EU stop us 'furthering our horizons'.....I sell to at least half the world, the other half are just not interested in what I have to sell.I have never found being in the EU restricting any sale,anywhere....I think this grasping opportunities rhetoric is an invention of Fox and May but has no basis.
This getting a trade deal with the USA is also rubbish,we happily trade with each other already there are few restrictions,it's political hype to give May and Trump something to offer the media.
The only restrictions to trade are the anti-dumping duties placed on countries with low labour costs, mainly from China and India. Taking those duties away by a free trade deal with say China will destroy what's left of our old industries,as a strong importer I would love it but it would cause big job losses in SME's in the UK.
I just don't see these restrictions ,either now or proposed ,please educate me where they occur?
However,I don't like the sound of those WTO tariffs,at the moment import tariffs average about 4% but there are some big numbers,in WTO....cars and parts,10%....lamb,40%.....these will really hurt. Get the calculator out and more price rises, still as I have said before Brexiters voted for it,so they are happy to pay for it,aren't they???
KudosDave
the cars sector will be prioritized by both EU and UK, a deal on that is possible without resorting to compensate car companies for import duty.
The lamb is a bit more complicated. NZ has a quota of 280,000 tonnes a year duty free. Half of it goes to the UK. We buy cheap lamb from NZ and sell 40% of our lamb to the EU. It is possible that domestic lamb will substitute NZ after brexit but the net effect on price for consumers will be minimal.

Very little, I'd say, in that case. At least it's keeping 'flecc' amused though I'm pretty sure he knew what would result when he initiated this thread so long ago....well, actually it wasn't really that long ago - it's just that we all find ourselves regurgitating the same material.

I'm only killing time till 'The Young Montalbano' starts at 2200hrs. I expect 'flecc' may be a fan of that too as he has some Italian connections though maybe I shouldn't mention that given the disposition of some correspondents here towards foreign people!

Anyway, on a brighter note it looks as though the UK is heading for a new era of enhanced relations with the USA. We should take some pride from the fact that arguably the most powerful leader in the world chose to meet with the British prime minister before any other world leader.

No,we don't need trade deals to broaden our trade horizons,we need stability, not the lack of direction we currently are getting from this government.
Theresa May consistently ignores all the bad news about Brexit,to be honest I don't think she cares about our economy, she only cares about controlling immigration.
I think she has accepted that we will not be able to secure a deal except in a couple of key categories so we could be on WTO rules.
Never met an entrepreneurial MP or civil servant, they are better at spending money than making it,I hope we don't have to rely on them.
At the moment pre Brexit is good for business provided we can keep putting up our prices, the weakness of the £ is letting us do that in Europe and the complacency of the British consumer is letting us do that in the UK,it won't last some will get fed up with it all.
