....... Once the formal notification is received by EU , it is too late to back out, so the possibility of then conceding that it is too expensive or inconvenient or unravels is irrelevant and the process will terminate in a hard brexit.
The guy who designed Article 50, a Brit, said it is reversible up until the EU ratifies it.

The lies from the tory media over decades have gone a long way to bringing about the situation whereby the UK has a fascist government. This creature is heavily responsible in recent times for furthering the cause of the right-wing extremists:

Laura Kuenssberg Fake News Corbyn BBC.png

What do you get when you vote for far-right extremists? You get this:

http://www.thecanary.co/2017/01/18/six-months-killing-jo-cox-britain-first-calls-supporters-strike-video/

A one-off they tried to tell us; a lone wolf nutter......I think not. Another of the clowns like Farage, who gets his rocks off by spouting moronic nazi rhetoric and winding up the street thugs and simpletons, with whom thousands of others have stood shoulder to shoulder while in denial about being racist, has been at it again as can be read via the link, thanks to The Canary.

The whole thing has always been about racism from the start and the 'manifesto' has been nothing more than a pack of lies. The whole 'Brexit' case has been predicated on lies but those soft in the head and evil in intent take it all in from these rabblerousers as if they were messiahs.

Inflation caused by the weakened Pound can reduce the trade deficit, discourage consumption, encourage exports, boost corporate profit. Basically, make the poorer families pay the cost. If inflation is high enough and half of the UK is willing to pay the price then brexit will succeed.

Article 50
1. Any Member State may decide to withdraw from the Union in accordance with its own constitutional requirements.

2. A Member State which decides to withdraw shall notify the European Council of its intention. In the light of the guidelines provided by the European Council, the Union shall negotiate and conclude an agreement with that State, setting out the arrangements for its withdrawal, taking account of the framework for its future relationship with the Union. That agreement shall be negotiated in accordance with Article 218(3) of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union. It shall be concluded on behalf of the Union by the Council, acting by a qualified majority, after obtaining the consent of the European Parliament.

3. The Treaties shall cease to apply to the State in question from the date of entry into force of the withdrawal agreement or, failing that, two years after the notification referred to in paragraph 2, unless the European Council, in agreement with the Member State concerned, unanimously decides to extend this period.

4. For the purposes of paragraphs 2 and 3, the member of the European Council or of the Council representing the withdrawing Member State shall not participate in the discussions of the European Council or Council or in decisions concerning it.

A qualified majority shall be defined in accordance with Article 238(3)(b) of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union.

5. If a State which has withdrawn from the Union asks to rejoin, its request shall be subject to the procedure referred to in Article 49.

From this I read that the EU holds all the aces once the article 50 has triggered by a State. Yes the EU parliament needs to ratify any agreement, but there is nothing the leaving State can do to control the process other than by negotiations. If the leaving State cannot negotiate a satisfactory outcome they leave after 2 years.

If the UK parliament voted against the deal at the end of the A50 process, I think there is a very good chance that brexit won't happen.
It will be a matter of common interest and mutual benefit to both UK and EU to then call off A50 or to extend the two year deadline.
Mrs May's offer to deal may be intentionally unrealistic. The EU will not negotiate sector by sector, they have never done so in the past.
A free trade deal with the EU has to include agreement of all economic sectors, with our extensive inter-dependency, it will take at least 7 years. The UK will have to 'behave' sensibly on CT rates during and after negotiation.
Our government knows that, this is why I think it may be intentional.
If Mrs May wants to be certain about brexit with control on immigration, she should go for the customs union option and get out of customs union maybe in 15 years.

OK but that is a high risk strategy... Note the requirements in article 50 for qualified majority for negotiated settlement but unanimous for other options. All that requires is one State to scupper alternatives

t agree it is diplomatically high risk but I wouldn't accept it's high risk economically.
The BoE's counter-measures seem to be working.
The market seems to expect parliament to vote against WTO / no deal outcome.

Take your finger off the fast forward button. Press pause, take a deep breath and calm down. Have a walk down to the Co-Op and buy a few coffin nails if it makes you feel better.

Honestly, I bet you are one of those people who book their space in the cemetery at the first sign of a sniffle :)
Actually my wife and I pre paid for our funerals years ago!

I think you may be mistaken. BREXIT has never been about throwing people out of the UK. Many of them make a positive contribution to our society. Throwing them out would be a bad move.

BREXIT is more concerned with controlling access to the UK from people who are not yet resident here.
Then one should ask why she has so signally failed both past and present to limit the Non EU immigrants entering the country.

Explain why having the power to do something inevitably means that she will actually employ it in the future when she fails to act on the powers she has now?

She is lying about what she will do to limit immigration as she always has, yet you choose to believe her.
And why do you do that?
Do illuminate the reason why she will change.

From the independent this morning
"
In 2015, the last full year for which Home Office data is available, 3,699 EU citizens were detained under immigration powers – 11.4 per cent of all detainees – while in 2009 just 768 were detained, 2.7 per cent of the total.

In many cases, no crime had been committed, with people detained for reasons such as losing their ID card or having a birthday party in a park, according to the charity Bail for Immigration Detainees (BID).

Barrister Adrian Berry told The Independent he believed the Government was pursuing a policy of deliberate hostility towards EU citizens, which could intensify when the country leaves the EU.

The detention of EU citizens has continued to shoot up, with 1,227 detained in the third quarter of 2016 – 17 per cent of the total number recorded in that period."

Pure co-incidence obviously, but how long before they replace muslim terrorists as the target of choice in the papers?

Sitrep time. 19/01/2017

Yesterday Teresa May sent a clear message
  1. She has abandoned the idea of gaining an advantageous deal with the EU, as impossible
  2. There is much more to be gained by Hard Brexit where no matter what goes wrong the Government will be able to Tax the plebs much more than they presently do and have a very strong argument that goes like this.
The intransigent EU is to blame as they wouldn't listen to our very reasonable requests.
The UK Money Laundering Market is a huge success Britain is Booming.
Don't complain you are broke and hungry
You the plebs voted for this so you should be pleased.

Did I miss anything?

Yes, the point.
What point was that?
Do you actually believe anything she says?
If so based on what past experience of her actual performance in any role?
Do tell.
Has she actually for instance reduced non EU immigration even though that is within her powers?
Why should this woman change her ways and actually do what she promises?

I don't really care what happens to my carcass when I have finished using it. It's only a means of transporting my consciousness around. When that's gone the remainder is biodegradable waste.

Just finished watching Mrs May delivering her speech at Davos WEF17.
Sounds good to me. Could have been delivered by Cameron though.
Meanwhile, this titbit of information shows why the UK and the EU need to change:

Chinese living in extreme poverty
1981: 8 in 10
2010: 1 in 10

Globalization has benefited China.
Is China the model for brexit UK?
