Boris Johnson urges ERG to ignore EU 'propaganda' over Brexit deal"

Byzantine politics at it's best!
@BBCkatyaadler
EU sources saying U.K. has accepted the idea of ‘managed divergence’ in exchange for preferential access to single market. Ie if U.K. divergences from EU standards (which U.K. gov demands as its post #Brexit ‘sovereign right’) then EU has right to retaliate eg with tariffs

Your "Oven ready Brino is served"
Bye George, I think he's got it!

Johnson is working with Prince Charles the Lizard. Hence we'll end up in the Age of the Brinosaurs.

All we'll need then to complete our misery is the news that the vaccines only remain effective for three months and top ups become progressively ineffective.
.
Given the news below, can we expect to need to vaccinate twenty times a day!

British American Tobacco wins approval to test Covid vaccine on humans

Nothing like protecting the sacred Union.

Wales and Scotland threaten legal action over UK internal market plan
Bill, set to become law after concessions on devolved nations, ‘act of constitutional sabotage’
https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2020/dec/15/government-retreat-on-uk-internal-market-bill-ends-lords-stand-off

No, this is nothing like protecting the sacred Union.

Wonder if/when Northern Ireland might join in? Quite an impressive feat to marshal all three against the UK government. Of course, part of the problem is that there is no England body so, even if there were agreement with W, S and NI on this issue, there is no England channel for putting it forward. (I can't help but imagine all four constituent countries fighting it out against the UK government.)

Adding:

And now Scotland opinion poll puts SNP at 58%. Possibility of winning every seat but one.

We are desperate for a deal - not much time and urgent political imperatives. Ideal situation for bolstering our negotiating power.

The UK and the United States are hoping to reach an agreement on reducing trade tariffs, according to Robert Lighthizer, the US trade representative in Donald Trump’s outgoing administration.
In an interview with the BBC, Lighthizer said he was in talks with the UK’s international trade secretary, Liz Truss, which could remove hefty tariffs imposed by the US on goods including Scotch whisky.
“I’m hopeful we can get some kind of an agreement out you know, we don’t have a lot of time left,” Lighthizer said.

It's always been like this, it's how we maintain the image of being a first world nation justifying a place at the top table.

We are in reality a second class nation ripping off its own most vulnerable citizens to buy the symbols of top rank. Nuclear submarines and weapons, aircraft carriers with latest aircraft, conducting wars against other parts of the world using vast quantities of ammunition, hosting extravagant events, showing off by giving higher amounts in foreign aid than our neighbours.

All paid for at the cost of OAPs unable to afford fuel to keep warm, millions dependent on queuing at food banks to be able to eat, charities providing school meals and even those the government provide often being cheap, unhealthy trash, thousands homeless and sleeping in cardboard boxes on the streets, tens of thousands killed through not buying enough PPE in time and inadequate hospital bed provision*, out of control crime through cuts in policing.

For most of my life I've had no pride in this nation and have long been ashamed to be English.

Appears Nissan has decided not to make an electric vehicle in the UK.

Quelle surprise.
In fairness they've been making them here for ten years and will continue to with the Leaf model.

The decision for the new Ariya model is a Europe wide one, now tariffs between Japan and the EU are disappearing, making it not worth tooling for the new model which will sell mostly on the mainland EU. So like Honda, they'll make e-cars in Japan and ship them.

It's ominous though, since when the Leaf is discontinued for a completely new model and petrol cars are phased out within ten years, the Sunderland car factory could close. If we are on WTO tariffs then, it will definitely close.

Brexit is an ever worsening disaster.
