We are in reality a second class nation ripping off its own most vulnerable citizens to buy the symbols of top rank.
that I can agree with but we still belong to the top 7 countries in the world as far as the economy is concerned. So a few external signs of presence like aircraft carriers without aircraft may be just the right solutions.
Once upon a time, when I was a student, I bought an old Mercedes trying to make a big impression on female students...

I’ve just had a phone call with my niece who’s a doctor. Won’t say which hospital. Their ICU is full, it’s never reached that point before. They’ve got a queue for ICU beds and people are dying before being admitted. About half that manage to get into ICU are dying anyway. It sounds like a war zone.

If Boris’s Christmas Bonanza goes ahead, this can only get worse during January.

At the cost of the common public as I observed.

Which do you think they'd prefer, to be far better off individually and out of harm's way, or the money used to make us a country at the top table, subject to the hatred and envy of many and a potential nuclear target?

We have the balance all wrong, the purpose of governance should be to improve the lot of the common man, not increase the sense of power and well being and the afluence of a small elite at risk to the life of the common man.

The Government is masterminding a sell-out to Brussels – and Brexiteers are in on it
The PM has checkmated the UK by making mass concessions via the Withdrawal Agreement and failing to prepare thoroughly for No Deal

Barry, that is exactly how I expected that to play out. I am convinced that the UK has been fudging its numbers for months. The idea that only dates within 28 days of initial diagnosis are counted is bunkum, and was from end of April. The mortality rate is about 3% in normal populations ,when proper diagnosis is done, and hospital facilities are not overcrowded. Expect it to double when they are.
The key market to follow is the USA, where the Thanksgiving Weekend is now playing dividends.. The average death rate was 3000 per day, and last night it got to 3500. At the peak of their early wave it was nearly 1000 per day less .
The problem is now worse in that those medical staff are now burning out, and there are no reserves.
