BJ believes we can. Give him a chance!
He's had 56 years of chances, time to give up on him.
We are in deep trouble, we've severely damaged our relationship and future trading prospects with Europe, our best customer, without showing any signs of how we can offset that elsewhere. Our economy is in dire straights, forcing a premature freeing of lockdown. Our record of dealing with Covid -19 is so bad that as well as being the worst in Europe and one of the worst in the world, we face the strong possibility of a second wave crippling us further.
Johnson clearly isn't the man for the job in these circumstances, but whoever might take over has no hope of doing anything more than mitigation.
And I see no prospects for improvement in the longer term, simply because we've chosen the wrong paths of being isolated with internal fragmentation, meaning we don't even have a united front as one single governed country to do anything. The Brexit negotiations showed this only too clearly, with England, Scotland and Northern Ireland each with different objectives.
I'm glad I'm the age I am since it means I wont have to repeat the full painful experience of our decades of decline from 1950 on. Once of watching it in increasing despair was more than enough.
