I'm sure we will all sleep more soundly after this reassurance
"
Prime minister Boris Johnson has announced he is scrapping the two metre social distancing rule as part of an easing of lockdown restrictions, saying there is no “current risk” of a second coronavirus peak.

Right, I’m off out for a pub meal then, Coronavirus & Chips sounds tempting. I wonder if they’ll be doing 2 for 1 before 7:00 pm?

They don't seem to realise that it's already illegal to use any scooter on a pavement, child or adult.

And those kids who have powered ones will have a shock when the new law announces that a driving licence is necessary as well as road use only, making theirs scrap.

This whole move to legalise motorised ones is barmy, staying classified as motor vehicles they are only for on road use but need not be insured for third party risks, a first for a motor vehicle. So what happens when the adult rider collides with a car and badly damages it's paintwork? The car driver will demand compensation, but there's no insurance details to give, the rider can give a false name and address and there's no number plate for tracing them.

This government really doesn't think things through before announcing measures.
.
First and foremost of course it's the parents who have to tell the child what the law is being their guardians which naturally they wont, if fact they'll tell them to stick to riding on the pavement with their new toy for safety.
What happens when they run out of paving ? they cross the road still powered up, what they wont do is step off and push it no way. Going back to yesterday I was amazed just how many are being used in a busy town, competing with cyclists and often overtaking them. It's astonishing to watch some of them bob & weave, road blocked ? take to the pavement, if that's blocked then it's straight onto the road they never seem to stop.

Bad news - No cricket :-(

Good news - Pubs back open and with table waiter service - all very Continental ironically in the new age of Brexit. How an earth will round buying work?!?!
Many pubs have been doing that for weeks now, I don't think it was illegal to sell booze only to let customers into the premises, so they served them in the car park.
I saw a photo in a newspaper where people were swigging on the pavement outside of a pub, plod were called they had a word but no action taken. Funny thing was the pub denied serving to customer outside the building but the picture clearly showed they were, no harm done but it rattled a few locals who had grassed them up. I would imagine quite a few other publicans weren't too happy either, one law for one etc.

But there are areas where drinking in the street is illegal - or at the least, police can confiscate or pour away any alcoholic drinks found.

Our plan is working. Having protected the NHS & reduced the number of #coronavirus cases we can now carefully lift restrictions. We must continue to protect our NHS & stay vigilant & stay alert. https://gov.uk/government/news/pm-announces-easing-of-lockdown-restrictions-23-june-2020

Took a trip to Portsmouth yesterday to have a look around, got a bad sunburn now I look like Donald Trump complete with the white eyes  ... and it hurts.

E scooters everywhere almost as many as bikes, shooting through red lights almost knocking elderly people over.
Youngsters tend to stick to pavement riding but adults take to the road on big machines travelling at speed.
I can see this turning out badly for some people, what's the chances of new legislation sooner or later after a few more innocents are flattened.
Took a trip to leigh on sea yesterday and also got sunburned. But it was surprisingly ok: not as petit bourgeoisie as Bournemouth or quite as hen party as Portsmouth. An odd rough quite human bit of coast with good karma that's surprisingly unspoilt and beautiful for so near london.

Anyone got an Oxford English Dictionary handy? To explain to Johnson what "responsibility" actually means. Ends up as just another lie.

Johnson says of course he accepts responsibility for everything that happened.

But the discharge of patients into care homes was done on the basis of clinical advice, he says.

General Flynn posted today,

Digital Soldiers are on the move (get ready!)

Anybody want to speculate what that means?

BTW, Katie Hopkins now has 90,000 followers after three days on Parler, like I said would happen.
You know ..I clicked on that bait above and all it does is invite me to load this parler app. Well I didn't and I won't. It very simple . On these, one is either the producer or the product ,and every poster is the product.

and no negotiators worth a ****. And no clarity and leadership from those in charge.
as if there's a parallel world where we have good negotiators and there's a different outcome? with brexit premised on blatant lies and manipulation? and its not a game of texas holdem with all the other players (and everyone in the world other than some ******* thick local jingoistic rednecks and jrm's vested interests) knowing from square one we have a desperately losing hand and are bluffing, very very badly?

It’s no coincidence that the Downing Street daily briefings have ceased on the day that easements to the lockdown measures were announced. The easements make it impossible for them to continue justifying locking the journalists out of the room. They are much easier to control when on the end of a flakey Internet connection, rather than in the room looking them in the eye.

Again, this is typical of the cowardly streak of yellow pi$$, that is Boris Johnson.

It should be astonishing that Johnson has failed to even tell the Welsh Government why it is OK to reduce distancing requirements. Of course, it isn't. It is simply yet more incompetence and hiding of information.

WG: Welsh Government still has not seen evidence to support reducing two-metre rule
Ms Williams confirmed the Welsh Government is still not in receipt of two-metre guidance which guided Westminster's decision to reduce the two-metre rule.
"At present, the two-metre rule for social distancing is staying in Wales. We will review that when we are able to," she said.

It really makes you wonder why we are still going ahead with the madness that is Brexit
we have to know if we are still capable of world beating performance on our own.

It's odd I never usually get a sunburn, I can only imagine it's because I've been indoors more so suddenly being hit by a good blast of UV my skin was not prepared for it. I wonder if anyone else has roasted quicker this year ? another by-product of covid.

I think Hen Party city sums up Portsmouth very well, would you believe many years ago one road in Pompey had 27 pubs in it ! I doubt anyone ever achieved a pub crawl successfully without expiring. :)
