Brexit, for once some facts.

Though some of the worst affected parts of Wales are around Newport and Cardiff - both sort-of on the coast. And Swansea. With the peculiarly low number in Powys, which is not coastal. (But also has no real hospitals.)

On a purely selfish basis, I hope being close to the coast is good.

Of course, one of the ironies is that regardless the use of masks, etc., if pollution is a major factor, getting everyone back to work will almost certainly hugely increase pollution levels.
Two words... Port Talbot.

Here are the draft plans for workplaces in order to ease the lockdown.
No change then just a few more businesses doing what the already open ones do already.
So where is the plan to ease the lockdown?
This is applying more of the same in more places.
In other words simply allowing more businesses to take the same level of risk in more places
Another attempt to con the public.
We need to see not just a single step but a planned progression

When a bomb explodes looking into the hole won't necessarily tell you where it came from or why it was dropped.
The old saying appropriate here when jumping to conclusions with evidence is applicable here

"Bigotry is a great time saver
it allows you to make your mind up
without bothering with the facts"

What we have here is the sort of evidence Lynch mobs regards as conclusive.
When you have so many different nations vying for the title of biggest bloody fool on the planet, taking the first scapegoat offered up for sacrifice is not wise.
Not wise at all.
After all since the virus can be created elsewhere, what is to stop someone like Putin arranging for an outbreak in another country to create mayhem at no cost to Russia?
I give you that simply as a plausible example not a conspiracy theory.
My logic when looking at a crime would be to question who has the most to gain for perpetrating it.
It's a very short list, isn't it?
And who is the most Devious Ba****d of them all?
That theory falls at the first hurdle, it hurting Russia too. This thing came out of China.

Given the connection between a form of rabies and bats, I'd be running away from them under any circumstances. I wouldn't be happy to touch one even wearing decent gloves. Not scared of bats, as such, but the disease issues are potentially serious.

Some bats in the UK carry rabies viruses called European Bat Lyssaviruses (EBLV). EBLV are not the classical rabies virus which is usually associated with dogs; classical rabies has never been recorded in a native European bat species. The presence of EBLV in bats in the UK does not affect the UK's rabies-free status as this relates to classical rabies only.
I have bats roosting in a building in my garden. They are wonderful creatures. You can buy bat detectors which convert their ultrasonic call into audible sound. I know when they are about to emerge in the evening, they have a certain call which rouses the rest of the colony.

I’ve never considered eating a bat though, you’d need to have something seriously wrong with your head, or be Chinese to stoop to that level of perverse behaviour.

Washing uniforms on site rather than at home

What? After all the bags have been made for nurses to wrap up their uniforms to bring them home?

From comments:

No healthy people died. Why should we quarantine?

With brains like that, no wonder we have the government we’ve got.

I went to Screwfix earlier today. They have a great system going. Click & Collect only, I revived a text within 30 mins of ordering saying the gear was ready to collect. Once there, I queued in the carpark with at least 5 metre spacing. A table was set up at the front door. A staff member came out, asked my name and disappeared back into the building, emerging a minute later with my order which was placed on the table. The staff member then retreated into the building and I then went forward and collected the gear. Great system, probably more efficient than regular shopping.

Seems quite logical to me. Many oriental peoples eat insects and their larvae which they laboriously gather, so letting a bat do that work for you and eating the bat is merely labour saving efficiency.

Except for people like me who can't use it. With no mobile signal at home I can't give them a number to use or receive the text.

The result was no business for them but for Machine Mart instead, since they are more flexible.

Also you might not be so impressed if you were queuing in the car park in pouring rain and a biting easterly wind. Sooner or later the weather will take a turn for the worse and we'll see ructions over queuing then.

I can actually hear bats. I know that ability is supposed to decline as you get older but not with me it hasn't.
They fly around here at night and I even managed to get a photograph of one in flight, not easy though.

Bad weather doesn’t bother me. I’d stand in a car park in heavy rain and high winds, it keeps the numbers down

Can’t you use WiFi when the mobile signal is poor? My phone receives calls and texts via WiFi. 3 did it and my latest provider EE does it too. Fills in the coverage black spots.

I wasn't able to get that working, but didn't try very hard. I don't use wireless connections in flats for security reasons, my whole system is hard wired, computers, TV, digital TV recorders.

For the same reasons my smart meter doesn't work, like all the others round here.
