that booking site opens at 8AM to 8PM. I don't know why those hours but by 9AM, all the home testing kits have already been all booked out.
'Come back tomorrow' it says.

Do you still have to wait until you have symptoms?
I suppose they want to save up some test kits. That's the natural consequence of hiring bean counters to manage an outbreak.

Tomorrow and tomorrow, creeps in this petty pace from day to day,
And all our yesterdays have lighted fools the way to the nearest intensive care unit.

But that conflicts with them have more testing capability than is being used. Doesn't it?
Their problem is the ratio of number of confirmed cases versus number of tests.
They want to maximise the confirmed cases and spend less on testing kits.

You realise that is attributing a minimal measure of intelligence being applied to the testing procedure.
"
Private Eye reporting that Deloitte, appointed without competition to (badly) test NHS staff, has liabilities outweighing assets and is 'thus technically insolvent'. The company, overly dependent on consultancy, paid its top partner £3.3m and other partners an average of £750k..."

The expression relative to that is I think
"Are you feeling generous?"

it seems that we are settling down to 4,500-5,500 new confirmed cases a day since beginning of April (1/4-23/4) - at 12% death rate, that's 600 a day in hospitals. Plus 40% for deaths outside hospitals, that's 1,000 deaths a day.
Italy has 2,700 new cases a day, nearly 50% less than we do. They get there by testing 3 times more than we do. Do you think it's worth following Italy's example?

This government is pretty rubbish.

How the heck can they take the day off work to make the possibly over a hundred miles round trip to a test centre, when they may not even have transport?
The man isn't just an idiot
He's a dangerous idiot.
This is going to be his Get out of Jail Free card. It's been possible see this coming since about 10 days ago. On Thursday next week he's going to say that they have capacity to test 100000 people per day, but these lazy care home workers, on minimum wage, can't be arsed to jump into their Audi A5s and make the journey to get tested.

Did you see the map of the test centre locations? Which bell-end thought it would be a good idea to cluster them all together and leave vast areas with no testing station within an eighty mile radius?

The testing stations need to be distributed on a similar scale to polling stations, but that would expose the fact that they can't test 100000 / day, so it won't happen.

That's unfair. As your figures demonstrate, they are very good at killing people via a combination of incompetence and recklessness. Pretty soon the public are going to join in by killing themselves too.

Has anyone seen or heard from Sir Cunty McCuntwhistle? He's the new guy appointed by Matt Handcock, 10 days ago, to sort out PPE. Apparently, he's the guy who put on the 2012 Olympics and he is going to sort out PPE. I've not seen or heard anything from him yet, he seems to have gone AWOL.

Some people I am in contact with buy their own medicines from abroad. (There are several reasons, not least incomptence in the UK which allowed prices rises so large that prescriptions were stopped.)

In this wonderful world, we are seeing some of them having major problems getting their medicines. Virtually no air transport, companies running out, governments controlling exports. Today, someone has mentioned that their medicine has been sent from literally the other side of the globe by boat. They have checked Google which suggests 40 to 60 days for that!

Thought someone would have posted that! And that it would be you!

Agreed.

However, whilst what he said, what specific substances he seemed to be referring to, are utter bonkers, there just could be some prior art. I might have mentioned the use of intravenous potassium permanganate as a treatment for bacterial pneumonia? It was tried in, I think, the 1920s in the UK. Have not found any subsequent mentions - though I don't even claim I looked other than a cursory glance.
As I have posted before...my son has CF,and a very good understanding of his condition. ..To the extent that his consultant unleashes him on first year residents . He often nebulises a saline solution to calm inflammation in his lungs

Shakespeare, as you reminded me, is so very pertinent. Looks like a few lines later, he foresaw DT:

It is a tale
Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury,
Signifying nothing.

I'm in London and remember the London Olympics very well but have never heard of this man. That Olympics was organised by ex Olympic athlete Sebastian Coe, now Lord Coe.

So Lord Paul Deighton was just a political figurehead at the time of the Olympics, more political bo!!ocks from Boris Johnson:

From Wikipedia:

Sports administration career of Seb Coe
London 2012 Olympic Games

When London announced its bid to hold the 2012 Olympics, Coe became an ambassador for the effort and a member of the board of the bid company. With the May 2004 resignation of chairman Barbara Cassani, Coe became the chairman. As Coe was a well-known personality in Olympic sport, it was felt he was better suited to the diplomatic finesse needed to secure the IOC's backing. Coe's presentation at the critical IOC meeting in July 2005 was viewed by commentators as being particularly effective, against tough competition from Paris and Madrid, and the London bid won the IOC's blessing on 6 July.[33]

Coe attended the 2010 Winter Olympics held in Vancouver to see how the city coped with the challenges of hosting.

Coe was instrumental in asking Queen Elizabeth II to star in Happy and Glorious a short film featuring James Bond which formed part of the 2012 Summer Olympics opening ceremony. The director of the ceremony, Danny Boyle first pitched the idea to Coe, who loved it so much that he took it to Edward Young, Deputy Private Secretary to the Queen. Word soon came back to Coe that she would love to take part.

British Olympic Association
Following the London Olympics, Coe was appointed as Chairman of the British Olympic Association replacing Lord Moynihan.[49][50]

Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games
Coe has been appointed a member of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games Coordination Commission[51] representing the Association of National Olympic Committees.

This is Lord Deighton, aka Cunty McCuntwhistle. An unelected Tory Peer appointed by the Tory party to resolve the Tory created PPE crisis. The Brexit contingent will be pleased we’ve not got unelected and unaccountable people meddling in things which directly affect them. Oh, hang on, he is unelected and unaccountable. How did that happen?

Anyway, here he is. If you see him, call the police, he’s missing in action. All banks are on alert in case he tries to deposit the fat pay cheque he will be receiving.
