Brexit, for once some facts.

And I was rather surprise that there was no mention of the elderly, are we supposed to simply go shopping and accept the risk?
There have been rumours of special arrangements, but that's all.

Looks like only the specific medical cases are being advised of special arrangements. Just being old (whatever that means on the calendar, and in our minds, and the assessments of others) doesn't seem in the least special.

Three month's supply of Milk and Toilet rolls?
Ironically, we have almost an excess of bog rolls! We bought some quite a while ago and they were a new version which neither of us like. Bought some of the liked ones online but when delivered they were a very different product and even less acceptable! Got a full refund but allowed to keep them. They are awaiting some sort of giving away - just need to decide who will be the lucky people to get horrible bog rolls.

And we virtually don't use milk.

Only the Daily Mail does stupid better than the Express

Coronavirus UK poll: Elderly should NOT be ordered to stay in 'THEY aren't the problem'
PEOPLE over the age of 70 should NOT be forced to stay indoors as the coronavirus crisis escalates - because they are not the ones ignoring advice about self-isolation and social distancing, voters in an Express.co.uk poll have concluded.

72% in their Poll agreed with this mad notion
I guess it shows two things
At least 72% who participated in the poll were in that age group
And that 72% were loonies who don't comprehend that they have not been ordered specifically to stay in doors, just abide by the same restrictions as everybody else.

It would be interesting to find out how many regret having voted for Boris!

And also in the Daily Mail, for the first time ever I agree with Jeremy Hunt
"
Jeremy Hunt leads calls for more tests for NHS workers as clamour grows to to clear 'ridiculous bottleneck' of staff having to isolate who turn out NOT to have coronavirus
Mr Hunt also warned that it 'may be too late' to avoid Britain becoming like Italy, which has suffered one of the worst outbreaks.

He told Parliament: 'Now is the time for a massive national mobilisation behind testing and contact tracing.'

Whilst welcoming Boris Johnson's 'ambition' of 250,000 tests a day, he said that just 5,500 people had been tested on Saturday – no significant increase on a week ago.

'Ambition is not the same as a national plan and we have not seen a national plan on testing,' he said.

'How can we possibly suppress the virus if we don't know where it is?'

He said that based on a recent death rate, nearly 300,000 Britons had the virus – and if it is doubling every five days, we will have more than one million cases by the end of next week.

To me it seems like it’s the over 70s and under 30s who are having the difficulty understanding what it means to keep away from other people not in your household. It seems like a very simple instruction, but for some reason it’s not penetrating in these two age groups.

seriously this paper should be closed down

It should read
YOUR CHANCE TO SURVIVE DEPENDS ON YOU!
That is just plain stupid. What idiotic & immature journalism. Are they really so desperate for money that they will lower themselves to write this stuff? At this time, that sort of comment is completely unhelpful. An easily understandable scientific explanation of how isolating reduces viral transmission would have been a good idea, but no, “End of Freedom” FFS they have no idea.

they know exactly what their readers are interested in, bottom left corner:

Puzzles: page 20
Obituaries: page 33
TV listing: page 35
Weather: page 36

'Obituaries' occupies only 2 pages at the moment.
Perhaps their readers will change their mind when it doubles to 4.

Ah but the over 70s lived through the war, so there's no way a mere virus will defeat them.

And the under 30s are in their own knife war which is a bigger threat than a silly virus.

Just had my pre-booked car MoT cancelled. No government advice as yet. I’ll continue to use the car for essential journeys only. I doubt there will be any prosecutions, there are going to be hundreds of thousands in the same position, plus I’ve tried to get an MoT, not just I ignored it.

WTF is The Mayor of London doing by cutting tube train services?
The passenger numbers are down by 90% due to people working from home, so it would be foolish not to and risk more staff than necessary being at risk by being out.

It wouldn't surprise me if the main line trains get affected too, since their passenger numbers are well down too.

This should be happening right now
Sanjeev Silva, an ENT consultant & Nick Morris, obstetrics, have conducted feasibility study & written to Johnson & Hancock urging govt to act immediately. Remember: there has been no explanation for lack of mass testing, only known protocol to work
