I think the problem here is the USA sticking to Fahrenheit, we so often see that usage online. Looking a Met Office records can also keep Fahrenheit alive.
.
Might well be true. But I suspect that nowadays relatively few would immediately know freezing point in F.

And entirely separate:
Welsh government closes campsites and caravan parks, and restricts access to beauty spots
Caravan parks and campsites in Wales are being closed to visitors from today, Mark Drakeford, the Welsh first minister, has announced. And some beauty spots are effectively being “closed” to tourists too. In a statement he said:
Wales is a beautiful country and attracts millions of visitors every year – but now is not the time for unnecessary journeys. We want people to come to Wales when the threat of coronavirus has passed.
Today, we are taking action to close caravan parks, campsites and some of our most recognisable visitor sites to keep people safe and to reduce the pressure on our NHS.
My message is simple. Please stay at home and save lives.
According to the Welsh government, people in caravan parks or campsites in Wales on holiday will be asked to return home from today, unless there are exceptional reasons why they should stay. People who live permanently in park homes are not affected.

Among the beauty spots being “closed” are Snowdon in north Wales and Sugar Loaf and Pen-y-Fan in the Brecon Beacons. Access to these mountains is being restricted.

It could, of course, be an English comprehension failure. :) If the person doesn't get the difference between length and width. I often find the meanings of height, width, depth, etc., mis-stated/mis-interpreted.

And the way they perpetuate Fahrenheit. Somehow, it is not hot at 27C but is at 80F so summer temperatures are almost always converted. But they almost never mention freezing point, 32F.
They should present the summer temperatures in degrees Kelvin. 300 degrees is much more sensational than 80 F or 27 C.

So what is the collected opinion on ice cream vans doing their rounds?

We don't get many, or maybe it is one van but not frequently, but I just heard a chime so there must be one round the corner.

Popped out to shop and fix a cricket club banner that was a bit flappy from the winter, managed to gash my thumb with Stanley knife when cutting heavy duty cable ties and as I'm on blood thinners gush the fresh red stuff a bit more than normal. Luckily in my m/c tankbag I had a greasy rag so improvised a bandage as best I could. Bimbled off around town which without schoool run traffic had a distinct Sunday feel with shut up shops and patchy footfall . Looked in at the barbers as about due a trim but they've shut up shop. In 3 months time I expect we'll be all looking very 1970s / Catweazel...

Local co-op was stripped bare of fresh meat, dried foodstuffs and bog roll as primary targets for raiding despite imposed limits. Everyone shiftily playing personal space bumper cars, while looking in vain for eggs and tins of sardines, and especially in the checkout queue. Paid for my purchases contactless, and as I left I glanced back and noticed why folk were giving me a paranoid level wild berth - I'd left a halloween style trail of bloody crimson dripson the floor all along the store floor - then when back at the bike I looked in the mirror noticed I'd also a vampiric apprearance around the lips and chin from when I first sucked the blood before applying the now soggy overflowing rag. Another routine sunny Spring day in dystopia...

Did you notice the advice not to indulge in DIY during this CV issue? :) If you chop your arm off, there might not be anyone to try to staunch the bleeding or try to sew it back. I suppose that gives rise to a secondary DIY activity. Sewing your own arm back on.

Next door neighbour was wittering about getting his hair cut. Just had not twigged the impossibility... Maybe he'll get a trimmer like mine?

You also missed the advice always to carry clean tissues with you. :)

Hope hand now recovering.
