So what modern socialism could achieve is a blend of the ideals of Marx and Engels and capitalism, a compromise to give greater social fairness.
you sound just like Tony Blair's Third Way.

What, like Jo Swinson or Anne Widdecombe?
.
They would be perfect at moment. Nobody likes them, wrong policies and wrong image.
It sums up how Labour go about things. They should be looking for right person to foster confidence, have right imsge, good policies and efficient. But no, tick some PC box. We need a woman. What if perfect person to lead them into no 10 is a bloke now living in London. Feck him. We want a woman.
But what will Labour do. Expell Alistair Campbell and appoint Ann Widecombe. Hello oblivion.

Except it has, more than once since.

Mark Duggan and Jermaine Baker. It was Mark's death that triggered the Tottenham and subsequent riots.
.
Duggan’s death happened because he was in possession of a gun for criminal purposes.
The answer is simple. If you don’t want to get shot, don’t carry an illegal firearm and do what the policeman says.

The public inquest concluded that this was a lawful killing, so you can’t say things haven’t changed.

I know the perfect candidate: baroness chakrabarti!

Joking aside, I think Sidique Khan may have some good advice for the Labour party.

I hear this a lot from the left. Similar views were expressed when Trump won.

Strangely, the system is never called into question when it spits out an Obama or other left leaning victory.
Not true, the matter comes up regularly, this is another Tory fiction you've come out with.

Fascinating that on the Beeb just now they say that Boris wants a "Canada++ " deal.
"
What is a “Super Canada” trade deal?
Canada’s free trade deal with the EU is known as the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) and took seven years to negotiate. It came into effect in 2017, and will be fully implemented within seven years.

According to the BBC, the deal eliminiates 98% of all tariffs on goods traded between Canada and the EU. The agreement does not fully remove regulatory barriers, however, as Canada is not a member of the single market - so Canadian products are still subject to border checks.

The broadcaster adds that the deal “encourages the use of advanced electronic checking to speed customs clearance”.

Under the deal, the EU could decide to place greater barriers on Canadian trade with European countries. But unlike the EU27, Canada is free to strike trade deals with other countries around the world.

On the other hand, Canadian financial services do not have full access to the European market. In 2018, financial services contributed £132bn to the UK economy - 6.9% of total economic output.

Oh Dear oh Dear, protecting offshore tax swindles can't be worth that sort of hit, especially as there is no way on Earth we can negotiate better trade deals than we presently have in the EU.
"Not a good start Boris" and it takes 7 years to implement?

The EU have had us for Breakfast.
The European Union (EU) has about 40 free trade deals, covering more than 70 countries. That means the UK, as a member of the EU, can currently trade with countries like Canada without having to pay taxes on its imports (tariffs) of most goods
So we gain nothing, lose £132 bn in financial services and save a paltry sum from EU membership.
Andfor that th Conservatives have mortgaged our future for a handful of magic beans.
Even worse the beans won't grow because they are baked beans :D

I think the figure for UK export of services to EU is nearer to £50 billions a year. Still a lot of money. Not all of it will be lost though as sales can still go through EU local branches.

I wonder if Tamar Ecclestone's tax return is consistent with her having an income which leaves a surplus of £50 000 000 to spend on jewellery?

If not, the the serious fraud office should be all over this. That's the big story, not the theft of the jewellery.

No one is going to harass the rich in any way with this Government in power is it?

Do you really think Corbyn, Diane Abbott and the other bone heads would have done anything? They would have just attacked the PAYE monkeys to fund their feel good orgy.
And given Ecclestone £25k as a WASPI payment. I, m sure someone in famaily would qualify.
Honestly, I kid you not, my Mrs was lining up another trip to Goa to spend hers on diamonds. Turn the £25k into £40k overnight, even paying for flights and hotels.

Yes I can.

Mark was not carrying a gun at the time and he did precisely obey the police orders, voluntarily getting out of the taxi and holding up his hands . He had both hands in the air when he was shot, the video I watched clearly showing he had a mobile phone held out in his right hand and nothing in his left.

Of course the inquest was fixed, the authorities as ever make sure that none of these firearm officers are ever convicted.

you sound just like Tony Blair's Third Way.
I'll give you Blair's third way:

He stole the identity of the Labour party for his idea, splitting not only the party but also their electorate.

He spent the whole of the last three years with constant snide attacks on Corbyn and current Labour because they didn't match his ideas. That was utterly dishonest since if he wanted his views to be represented he should have continued to stand as an MP.

He introduced the compulsory all female shortlists, preventing males from becoming candidates and feminising the party to a point the electorate didn't like. More than half of all labour MPs are now women, and clearly they are not as popular as the men have been in the past.

In those three ways he has been instrumental, together with his fellow Tories and their lying propaganda, in Labour losing this year's election.
