Intent or accident - both seem ridiculous.
totally expected from the spin doctors working in No 10.

Re the paragraph about NI, assuming that remainer MPs can't stop Bojo and UK leaves without a deal, I think NI border issue is going to be put on hold, basically we will keep regulatory alignment with the EU while real negotiation for an FTA with the EU goes on.

But unless the UK promises to maintain regulatory alignment, then a hard border must exist. Even such a promise is in fact a mini deal. It cannot be the situation that no border is maintained one good faith alone. All it takes is any one importer of garlic bulbs from China, which presumably would be perfectly legal under post October UK law,to scupper everything. If that importer was denied the right to import these into the UK, he presumably would have a stand up court case.

you look too far ahead while half expecting negotiation is going to fail.
There is no reason why Bojo can't get deal.
That does not stop him selling the family silvers to thee highest bidders.

IDS was born in 1954. I wonder what he will be capable of in another ten years? He might be one of the lucky ones. Others might suggest we'd all be better off if he retired right now and shut his mouth up for good.
He isn’t capable of anything now, so 10 years isn’t going to make any difference.

I would imagine he is of the opinion that older people just need a whip across their back to keep them working longer, not a decent standard of healthcare.

Most Tories are.

There is no such thing as society your heroine once said.

Other news (not that anyone cares of course)
Has no-one noticed the UK national debt has topped £2 trillion?
In Nov 2018, UK public-sector net debt was £1,7951.3 billion, equivalent to around 84% of GDP. However, due to other distractions such as Brexit, Britain’s national debt recently rocketed passed the £2 trillion mark and is already close to £2.2tr – £2.17tr to be precise.

The problem being that the true believers in Brexit did not look ahead into the near distance. The unicorns gambolling in the far distance was a distraction.
It is inevitable that there will Deal..

I have signed the legislation setting in stone the repeal of the European Communities Act 1972. This is a landmark moment in taking back control of our law. It underlines that we are leaving the EU on October 31.

However

Mark Elliott
@ProfMarkElliott

This is at best misleading. The EC Act 1972 will only be repealed on 'exit day'. If Parliament forces the Government to seek, and the EU grants, an Article 50 extension, the definition of 'exit day' can be altered & ECA repeal deferred accordingly. So repeal isn't 'set in stone'.

the NI problem is that DUP does not want to face the resulting border issue when Bojo gets his FTA.

So who is the former minister? Does BJ actually know or is he blustering and hoping the person gets revealed?

No 10 furious at leak of paper predicting shortages after no-deal Brexit

Government figures seek to play down predictions of food, medicines and fuel shortages in leaked document
Downing Street has reacted with fury to the leak of an official document predicting that a no-deal Brexit would lead to food, medicine and petrol shortages, with No 10 sources blaming the disclosure on a hostile former minister intent on ruining Boris Johnson’s trip to see EU leaders this week.

The leaked document, detailing preparations under Operation Yellowhammer, argues that the most likely scenario is severe extended delays to medicine supplies and shortages of some fresh foods, combined with price rises, if there is a no-deal Brexit on 31 October.

The idea of a 310 mile border is hilarious …..never going to happen.
Not hilarious.. frightening. The obvious location is on the waterfront. Belfast, Dublin etc. And with Customs interdiction boats to protect travel from Scotland to Donegal.

Yes, of course, we'd all like to know.

The crap that is pouring out of government mouths - all the issues have been sorted in just four weeks of BJ. And Gove saying this is the worst scenario - but just what prevents it being reality?

And if it is that bad, will BJ and his mates volunteer to be transported to any (non-EU) country that would take him? Just how bad does it have to be before they admit they screwed it and us up?
