Lovely answer. Tell that to the Fiat family in Italy, who bartered their engineering expertise for Russian Steel ,giving them what was the Lada, based on a very good Fiat 131 , and getting a steel which rusted a generation of Alfas and Fiats in return. Without control of your raw materials ,you are subjected to others market forces...
So you don't buy off them again. Live and learn. There is more than one place to buy Steel from. The Chinese are trying to give it away at the moment - get it from them!

You are correct. Rocket Science is logical. I will further agree with yiu that when these politicians realised that Brexit was a Crock of..... ,they should have come clean with the Public. The British are not fools, they would probably have forgiven anyone honest enough to have leveled with them.
You're just upset because you lost. That's all I can think. You lost the argument. You'll blame anybody else but yourself and those that argued along with you - but the basic fact is we had a vote and you lost.

So you don't give a damm about keeping contract law intact if the company concerned is 'Australian'. Have you no idea how important it is to have integrity at an International level on stuff like this?

Do you want to turn us into the Russians where they tear up legal contracts whenever the Mafia boss of that area insists? Which is how come almost nobody will do business with Russia anymore.

You want that to happen here?

Because that is what WILL HAPPEN if Labour fail to honour the most basic of contract laws we have. London is known for being trustworthy around this stuff - has been for centuries. You want to tear centuries of trust up like that?

Without honouring our agreements we are LITERALLY NOTHING - not worthy of any consideration AT ALL.
Again I agree with you, international contracts, law and treaties do matter. I fear however that your glasses are rose tinted in red white and blue frames . The Brexiteers were very willing to jettison their last formal Treaty.
But getting back to things like national resources ..water, electrical infrastructure etc. We have just had elections (Ireland) and results are just coming in. Water was a controversial topic over the last few years , and a National Water Authority established. The Greens were the party, with negligible support then ,who, amongst other priorites , wanted a constitutional amendment ensuring public ownership, and the current government did not... Possibly with an eye to selling it off . Suprise. The Greens have had a landslide success and the Government party FG has suffered.

No. I did not lose, I had no vote. My fellow Irishmen in NI did have a vote and they voted to remain.

Yes I do, but your use of integrity is laughable in this matter.

Thames Water, sold off to a German company who them sold it to asset stripper Macquarie Holdings in Australia, who then mysteriously divested it to a consortium known as Kemble. But then Kemble appeared to be still part of Macquarie Holdings afterwards.

Meanwhile as I've reported, Thames Water's functions were broken down into multiple companies to give layering of ever expanding profits, function by function.

If you think integrity is any part of this you have no understanding of its meaning. All I see is sharp practice, just like that of all the tax dodging multinationals, with us as the suckers footing the bills.

You really do not understand international commerce like that then?. These are 10 year deals etc what are they going to do with thousands of tons of high sulphur steel?. Where and are they going to replace it?. Live and Learn ? The effect of actions like this is commercial suicide.

the Lada, based on a very good Fiat 131
Small correction in the interest of accuracy. The 131, also known as the Mirafiore, was extensive manufactured in other countries, including iron curtain Poland where it was called the Polski Fiat, but never made in Russia or known as Lada.

The Lada was the FIAT 124 with upgraded heavy duty suspension to cope with Russian unmade roads. It also had a very different wiring system based on domestic electrics since there were no widespread auto electric skills in Russia but sufficient electricians.

Sheesh. The chip on your shoulder is the size of that fu cking black hole they say is out there a trillion miles away. What is your problem? Why so fu cking negative? There are always people swindling others. You always take the negative view. I am talking about genuine wealth creators - Apple, Google, Facebook - and the small guys too who set up a small business and through finding a gap in the market bring something new and useful to everybody. But to you its always about the dark negative aspects - how anybody who's got some money must have got it by some terrible means. You're damaged. Really. Always so negative. On and on and on you go. Never seeing anything other than people swindling other people. What a horrible experience to have all the time.
Oh Dear, same old stuff to cover up what is really going on, and the usual attack me for daring to point out the obvious.

What a comic you are, you want to put the fate of the nation into the hands of the second worst government in the world after North Korea , The Government is presently trying to select the least odious liar, conman and backstabbing cheat to front for them, and you accuse me of being negative?
And you have the effrontery to suggest the Brexit vote was intended to comply with your notions of a right wing fascist society?
The majority simply wanted to rid themselves of something the Government wanted (EU membership) to spite them and they still do!
That's why the Conservatives have bombed and Farage has done so well!

And here is a question.
What benefit has there ever been to the public here from Facebook (used to fiddle the referendum) Google (again used against the public) and Apple ( the biggest rip off company of all time? that swindles the public blind with ludicrously overpriced products?
All any of them do is rip off the British public and avoid tax.

And now in your infinite wisdom, explain how if we can't even save British Steel are we going to compete with these tech giants?
We can't and won't
And you and others like you are lying to the public about a bright future that they will never have.
You know that full well, so why do you continue to do so?
What's in it for you?
Who are you actually representing?

The basic fact is that enough voters were excluded to give a different result even if you discount the illegal activities.
The word is "Robbed" not "lost"

Hi OG, while I share your distain for Facebook and that it does not serve any public good, except employing some people here in Ireland, Google is another matter. I know it is primarily an advertising medium, but it has contributed to the entertainment and dissemination of knowledge

Google - - - - - - -has contributed to the entertainment and dissemination of knowledge
What we need now is an app for retention of knowledge by the public.

I fear the all too easy access to abundant knowledge has produced something akin to "in one ear, out the other".

Who would like to go first?

Facebook is great for finding missing persons, Children and dogs.... also for seeing what your mates had for their lunch.
I actually hardly ever go to my FB page - I think I was about 5yrs too old to really get into it when it lifted off. But to say that it has no worth etc - who thinks such things? Who can not look around and see how many people love facebook? How blind do you have to be to not see that?
