I was talking about Carl Benjamin and what he called a joke.

Do you believe that? Here's what he actually said. Where's the discrimination that you reported? Is it that he wouldn't rape her because she's too ugly? I guess that's a type of discrimination, but it's not illegal. I too haven't raped any ugly women. Have you, or are you free from such discrimination?

"There's been an awful lot of talk about whether I would or wouldn't rape Jess Phillips. I've been in a lot of trouble for my hardline stance of not even raping her.

I suppose with enough pressure I might cave. But let's be honest, nobody's got that much beer."

if you cannot see that there is a threat in that message then you cannot see the wood for the trees.
Suggesting to the receiver that he/she lacks a sense of humour after making the post is not even an excuse. People who want to run for public office must be whiter than white as far as respect for the law and social values are concerned.
sexism, misogyny, anti LGBTIQ+, verbal abuses, trolling, threats of violence, racism fall also under the anti discrimination laws.

VFR... Think you are becoming a champion of lost causes.
Reading TR's Wiki/Google search presents quite a nasty person. (assaulted a police officer who came to aid of TR's then girl friend as TR was assaulting her) . He, s been involved in a serious fraud and served time for both incidents. . He certainly isnt the type I, d invite into my house... but who knows.. Perhaps it is all a conspiracy.
The comment you are justifying, defending or whatever, above is indefensible. Shouldnt be made. I do think much of what you say makes sense, you question, quite rightly, much most merely accept. Dont ruin it by defending stuff we should all criticize.

Why do you say that? what has he said that you don't agree with?
Obviously you are not serious and are just winding everyone up for the hell of it.

Because this character has an attitude where idiotically he thinks it is ok to come out publicly with remarks like this
"

And you imagine that is OK? in someone intending to represent the public? and not just the morons who are equally crude and think it's butch to insult a woman?
And pretend it is a joke?
Men like that are scum.
Why are you lowering yourself to support the idiot?
Any fool can be popular on the internet if all you want to appeal to is the idiot fringe.

Yep, watched it... Couldnt really see connection.... to his guilt in quite a few cases...Not exactly a defence, justification or mitigation... I suppose that was your point..

Possible inference, indeed, one that is hard to avoid, is that he would rape her if she were attractive to him.

Deeply unpleasant and also threatening both to her and to anyone else.
So if you said you wouldn't urinate on somebody if they were on fire.....would that mean you
would urinate on them if they weren't on fire ?
I'm pretty sure it was just a bad taste joke.

It undoubtedly was, but an unpleasant joke about raping a woman is beyond bad taste, it's totally unacceptable.
.
I agree ….. But Oyster inferred That Carl Benjamin would have raped her if she was attractive..

Except that he included the word "even", which infers that he wouldn't go that far even if she were worthy of it.

The way it was said clearly implies that the reason he did not rape her was her unattractiveness to him. Not that rape is absolutely WRONG.

Even if dismissed as "figure of speech" or whatever, it is gross.

Yes it is Gross yes it is wrong, No argument..... But to say he did not rape her because of her unattractiveness is just ridiculous.. You are calling him a potential rapist for making a bad taste
Joke. Again I do not agree with what he said.

'even' and 'worthy' - do you re-read what you wrote sometimes?

The use of the word "even" in context appears to imply rape is insignificant.

(That is, it reads as dismissive as in this made-up example: No, I wouldn't shake hands with her, why, I wouldn't even rape her.)

Further, he then suggests that he could decide to but that the second reason for not doing so is lack of beer. Not that it is fundamentally WRONG.

He might have considered his words to be just a joke. A bit like Trump. Grabbing by the pussy is also WRONG.

Ouch, you can't say that, it's as bad as Benjamin's comment. No-one is ever worthy of rape.

People like Benjamin and "Robinson" need to either get out of politics or accept that political life comes with loss of liberal freedom of speech in today's world.

Today even Winston Churchill would be in deep trouble for the ways he expressed himself, this one for example:

When a woman accused him of being drunk, he replied:

"Yes, but in the morning I'll be sober but you'll still be ugly".

Perhaps funny from an average man, but unacceptable from a politician.

Some might consider it a bit on the glass houses front, perhaps:

"Yes, but in the morning I'll be sober but you and I will still be ugly".
