Yvette Cooper's bill squeaked through by 313/312 - incredibly well fought.
I watched her perform in the HoC a few times. A real talent.
She should have been Leader of the Opposition.
She is my local MP and has more faces then the town hall clock.
70% of her constituents voted leave.
Yvette and her husband (Ed balls ) both claimed for expenes for the same house in london
(after flipping it a few times)
They got away with it because their was nothing in the rules to stop 2 MPs claiming
for the same thing. I'm guesing when the rules were writen their wern't any
husband and wife MP's.
She is lower than a snakes belly.

I already posted about preparations for brexit in Pembrokeshire some time ago. Now it would appear to be taking towards 10% of the police officers... And so very interesting that it does not mention Scotland. Is this because of how they have collected and presented statistics? Or that they are not preparing in the same way in Scotland?

The NPCC lead for Brexit planning, chief constable Charlie Hall, said at least 10,000 officers trained in quelling disorder were ready for deployment across England, Wales and Northern Ireland, and trained in tactics to tackle looting in the event of shortages and violence if tensions spill over.

You have to wonder whether we have a Government or have been taken over by aliens when the police force are preparing for civil disorder over something as insane as Brexit.
And the Irony is that this disorder is most likely to come from those among the public that voted for it!

No deal it is then...
I think that option has now gone. Hasn’t Yvette Balls’s bill been passed by one vote which prevents no deal, in law.

I suspect that means an extension to A50, as specified by the EU, if they decide to grant one. If the EU decline to grant an extension to A50, I guess that would mean the government would be forced into withdrawing A50 in order to comply with the new legal position created by Ms Balls.

Yes, as promised, we have taken back control and the U.K. is definitely in the driving seat. We just need a few more years to work out what it is we are driving and where we are driving it to. I have a few ideas.

Our stupid MPs wonder why we get nowhere. Geoffrey Cox announces a soft Brexit would be no problem, because it can be hardened up later. That really will give EU negotiators loads of faith....
I saw that article. What is he saying? Is it as obvious as, “we will tell them what they want to hear now, just blag it for a bit, and then as a country, we will go back on our word a bit later on” Very credible, other nations will be queuing up to invest and do business with us.

Where do they get these idiots from? Is there a secret farm where people with enormous foreheads and buck teeth shag each other and produce our leaders?

Maybe if it gets printed on different colour paper it will count as "different" and therefore not blocked by Speaker's decision?
I thought the printer had broken? Code E7 - replace toner cartridge. They are still thumbing through the manual and scratching their backsides trying to work it out though.

I think quite the opposite. I think the HoL will ratify it quickly. I could be wrong, but we shall see.

Indeed we shall sir. I deed we shall.

The other thing is that HoC can say what it wants. It's not in charge of the EU. I can see Macron saying go and even little Leo might puff up like a peacock and say the same.

Although I think he is starting to worry and realise **** is getting real.

Why don't they shout up to the public gallery for help? most normal people could fix the problem!
Oh no, of course not that would break protocol

Its countdown... what do you see our clowns being able to organise in time we have. A few meetings, a resignation or 2 and probably a picnic... but doubtful a deal...
Fear is a wonderful motivator. After three years of kicking the can down the road they've become expert at it, willingly aided by the EU of course.

Just like football it's not up at the deadline. There's always extra time to be reckoned with.

Just as I said yesterday.

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2019/apr/04/salvini-aims-to-forge-far-right-alliance-ahead-of-european-elections

I’m really starting to believe the EU is going to insist we leave before their election. They won’t have the numbers to allow a bloc of anti EU Brits to join the other anti EU mobs. The project is crumbling.
Really starting to believe in your own fantasy?, nothing new there, though it does make a change from you believing in someone elses.

You know, there is an alternative... The UK could do what other countries do, and elect constructive representatives, not wreakers.
Yes and you can now start to believe that the UK will be out in April. Live your dream it will turn into a night mare soon enough.
In my opinion and seeing how slow the HoC is, unless the meetings in London yields a result today, there is no time left.

Wether no deal is viewed as a cliff edge catastophe or a panacea of saviour for UK I can not understand posters on here being so convinced it wont happen. Each passing hour, each indecisive vote, each resignation brings it ever more likely.
Chances of no deal are now highest they have ever been. Personally think its almost inevitable now and might just be what everybody needs to clarify minds.
Our Parliament has literally achieved nothing since referendum yet people are expecting a decision and positive action in next few days. Dont hold your breath.

PS
Danidl. The reason it appears that way is the massive disconnect between MEPs and UK voters. That might well have now changed. Perhaps EU could do something to solve the same malaise, actually worse, in other areas of EU. (Croatia had 16.9% turn out at last EU elections) Average throughout EU is 42%.That is very poor.

What have our laws got to do with it?
We could out law flooding but it would still happen.
The EU will decide if its a no deal. Not us. I suppose it depends on what they think we will do post no deal.
Perhaps Yvette Cooper could get her bill passed by ECJ...???
