It was quite a depressing documentary wasn't it
it was death by a thousand cuts.
David Cameron thought he knew how to win because he won the Scottish referendum.
By the time he realise that England versus Scotland is on a completely different scale compared to UK versus the EU27, it was already too late.
His only weapon was to threaten the EU with his veto when the EU needed a modification to the treaty, they simply change from treaty modification to intergovernmental agreement. He's lost the battle.
I suppose the EU's offer of 7 years emergency brake is still valid if A50 is cancelled.

I think that was always on the cards. It's one of the main reasons I wanted out. We have never been part of that club. Why pay billions and have to accept rules that have never had our core interests at heart.
What exactly do you think of as our core interests? Offshore tax avoidance? The eu has been the one good thing that dragged us out of the malaise of the seventies.

That was 50 years ago! We used to win Eurovision in those days too. What has that got to with now?

Get a grip ffs

I reckon the EU wants shot of us one way or another. Barnier in particular doesn't seem a fan.

Cameron was just an over privileged twit. The most ineffectual pm ever until May. He achieved nothing apart from blaming poor people for the banks mess, vilifying disabled people and caving in to his anti EU swivel eyed loon brigade.

You avoided the question didn't you? what according to you are our "core interests?"
The Government don't seem to know....
What "we could" have you in mind?

Do you not know?

Wow. You haven't learnt much have you.

Space. Education. Winning Olympic Medals. Selling Stuff. Jobs.

Can you think of anymore?

Go on. Give it a go.

eu membership didn't start "now" (unlike your restricted sense of spatial, temporal awareness). on the plus side your stupidity explains how brexit happened. and makes it unnecessary for me to try to explain anything to you. other than that you are a disgrace, not least to this country.

Well aren't you a ray of sunshine!!

I urge you to calm down though. I am having trouble understanding your terrible syntax and sentence forming as you mash away on your keyboard.

Lol. You are quite sweet when you stop the lying and speak from the heart though.

Keep it up!

the truth matters. if we had more of that earlier in the brexit debate we wouldn't have blundered into such an ill informed badly judged decision. it is the combination of arrogance and lack of knowledge that fingers personifies that captures the essence of the leave vote. i know he's your pal, but im afraid ive had enough of his deliberately mindless trolling, and someone has to be honest about this.

We've done much better in all of these since being in the EU, especially in the more recent years:

Space: We are a major player in satellites.

Education: More go to university and get degrees than ever before.

Olympic medals: We've won more than in pre-EU times.

Selling stuff: We sell far more now than in the years of decline before joining the EU.

Jobs: They are at all time highs.

The longer we are in the EU, the better we do in every respect.

That is why Brexit is madness.

John Crace:

The trouble started when Labour’s Ben Bradshaw enquired how the department’s plans for a no-deal Brexit were coming along. Everything was just great, Hancock snapped. There was no cause for any alarm. The fridges had been bought and the medicines sourced and stockpiled.

Yes, he had read that some supermarkets had said there would be food shortages and that prices would go up, but the same did not apply to medicines as their supply chains were very different. Food came in through Dover, while medicines came in on ferries that did not yet exist through Ramsgate.

I think we can do better out though. I think unless we join the Euro we will always be on the outside looking so lets just get on with it.

We won't lose any of the achievements you list above.

Galileo maybe but that sums up the EU for me.

Too many people go to university these days.

We won more Olympic medals before we joined the EU.

The 'gig' economy hides a lot of horrors.

Nothing is going to happen until then.
