No deal Brexit fear DEBUNKED: Trade boss' food shortage claim SKEWERED – 'Project Fear!'
A SKY presenter quashed fears of a no-deal food shortage this evening with one simple point about Brexit
But veteran Sky presenter Mark Austin shot back.
He explained: “The head of Calais port said that they will not stop or ask more of truck drivers than they are doing today.
“The other point is that your members have had months, even years to prepare foe a possible no-deal so I don’t understand quite why you should be staring at empty shelves, higher prices.
“People would say it’s Project Fear, really.”

So The food trade should have been planning to stockpile food and hold stocks for years?
Ckearly being on the TV doesn't equip presenters with the remotest understanding of how supply chains operate.
Debunked! cries the Express when in fact it is lying to the the public about the true situation as it usually does.
It knows very well what the true situation is but someone is paying it to lie about it.
We have had centuries to plan for it. But unless we (the people in power to do so) made the decisions that would result in little-to-no-change, there is every risk of issues.

Looks very much like the backstop being in fact a Customs union by another name
The EU will look at this and read
"The UK agreed to a backstop and signed up to it, and now they want to both keep that agreement, but reserve the right to lie about their actual intentions as they have with most things they agreed to in the past.
And they want us to agree to that?
And:

Yet many were spooked by Brady’s comments to the BBC on Sunday night that the change would not require rewriting the agreement, but that a “codicil” with the new arrangements would suffice.

So not part of the agreement...

This should really have brought down the Government
NEW: Bosses of Sainsbury’s, ASDA, M&S, Co-op, Waitrose, KFC, Pret, Lidl, McDonald’s, Costcutter and the British Retail Consortium write to MPs warning about the dangers of a no-deal Brexit for choice, quality and cost of food. Here’s the letter:

Cue cries of "project fear" from our resident panel of disaster deniers.
After all, who needs experts?
What is rather annoying is where were all these people and also people like the head of Airbus during the referendum. They should have been far more explicit about the dangers of Brexit during the run up to the vote in 2016. This all seems a bit like closing the stable door after the horse has bolted.

It's a sign of the Times that unsubstantiated rumours like this morph into accepted truths, even though no one seems willing to put a name to the source

Mandarins? for all we know this could be true and just a rumour out of China!
"according to sources" appears once more
Mrs Mays fear campaign rides again

Yes I share your frustration , but I can advance three reasons.
1. They did ,but were shouted down. These are not people who engage in public argy bargy.
2. Companies and countries outside the UK did not want to be seen as interfering in the internal politiking .
3. They were muted, because they could not understand how a sophisticated country would be so duped.

"I wasn’t that interested. But then I heard all the arguments to leave and I thought ‘brilliant!’”

there were millions like that man who would normally not bother to vote.
D. Cummings brought them out to vote (about 3 millions according to the film version).

I am really starting to like the idea of a core EU made up of Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal and Spain.

A federation with tighter fiscal and economic policy (including social security and minimum wage regulations) but retaining state governance over local issues. This federation would have some real clout - like being paid and paying in Euros instead of dollars.

sooner or later, the populists will say that Germany run the ship and Spain is unfairly treated.

The populists already say a whole lot of cr@p but just look where that has gotten them in Italy. Maybe le mot du jour could be "Unpopular Populists"?

I think that was always on the cards. It's one of the main reasons I wanted out. We have never been part of that club. Why pay billions and have to accept rules that have never had our core interests at heart.

For the billions maybe you should ask the Welsh what they think of the regional development fund. Oh sorry you did and they don't want the billions, silly me...

The rules on human rights, the environnement and workers rights you will have to accept one way or the other if you want to trade with the EU. Many of them are written by the United Nations and just applied by the EU. But you knew that already, what was I thinking...

May is just staggering on again today.

Wasting time. Her plan is so lame that we will end up with no deal. In fact it isn't a plan it's just doing nothing but pull strange faces and make weird guttural sounds.
