Err... JRM??

he never mentioned it.

anyone else care to explain??
Jacob Rees-Mogg suggested that people at the Northern Ireland border crossing could be ‘inspected’ after Brexit just like it was done ‘during the troubles’.

does he suggest we return to the old time?

When you reach maturity you will come to understand these things better but as you seem unable to demonstrate sufficient competence or motivation to read the Peter Stefanovic remarks or check out the video clip of JRM actually describing how a return to the border policing of 'the troubles' would satisfy all that is required of border control, I suggest you try harder.

From memory, 'the troubles were at their height in the 1970s'

Ahh.... trying to link possible `inspections` at the border in peacetime to the height of the troubles in N.I.in the `70`s...Nice try lol!!

Even at the height of the troubles the inspections at the border were never more than a few lorries and vans pulled over to check their contents, I was never `inspected` once in all that time traveling over the border.

Just another Fake News story by the Sore Loosers

Pedantic
:// comes from the French word pedant, which means “to teach or to act as pedagogue.” A pedantic is someone who is concerned with precision, formalism, accuracy, and minute details in order to make an arrogant and ostentatious show of learning. He could be a writer, a character, an ignoramus, feelings, tone, or words.

Whether or not the British vessels were on the high seas or inside French territorial waters seems somewhat irrelevant if, as 'Woosh' has mentioned, there is a moratorium on fishing for scallops during part of the year.
Which moratorium only applies within the 12 mile limit.

If that is the case thus providing the trigger for the French fishermen's anger and potentially fatal violence, then our fishing would be in breach of rules known to our boat skippers, rendering it illegal but instead of 'morally questionable', I would call it morally reprehensible.
Yes, but being aware of rules which apply within another country does not mean that you have to comply with those rules when you are not in the jurisdiction of that country. I don't disagree that the French fishermen have a grievance but they have resorted to violence over British actions they don't like rather than British actions which are illegal.
I believe discussions between the British and French fishermen's organisations are to take place very soon, let's hope the "gentlemen's agreement" can be reinstated without further violence against British fishermen going about their lawful business.

As for your disagreement with my assertion that the British are poor team players,
I'm sorry I wasn't very clear with my mention of the "largest member of the Union". The Union I referred to isn't the EU but closer to home. Going by the referendum results, N. Ireland and Scotland are happy to be in the EU club so only some of the British are not team players. ;)

Dreadful, just as bad as African parliaments being full of black MPs.
.
You must have missed this bit of report Flecc.

What happens in Africa is irrelevant, besides I suspect whites have had their share of control. Is there a white community unrepresented?
The EU doesn't actually practice what it preaches both in this instance and many others.
http://www.neenagillmep.eu/ethnic_minorities_are_under_represented_in_the_european_parliament

UK has 8% Ethnic minority MPs. How many does EU have.. Its in the link above. To save anybody calculating it its around 1.5%...And yet they claim EU is a democracy.
And BTW half of that 1.5% are from UK !! Post Brexit EU will have under 1% Ethnic Minority MEPs.
Just remind me which way racists voted.
The EU is intrinsically racist.
Just think on this for a moment. After we leave there will be 2 black MEPs. From a total of 750.

TELL YOUR LEAVER FRIENDS | This is their new mad world of Brexit fun facts of the day.

1. We are planning a trade deal with six sub-Saharan countries which is exactly the same as the current EU deal we have with them - but; we will sell less due to ‘rules of origin’ restrictions and, wait for it... have to accept African immigration we don’t have now and give even more foreign aid to invest for the privilege.

2. We are also planning to trade deal with Turkey - which we already have a deal with through the EU - and will have to accept the very same increased Turkey immigration that the Leave campaigns said we would have if we remained in the EU (but if we did, we don’t have to accept).

3. We are planning a trade deal with Brunei, the only SE Asian country with Sharia Law in their constitution. Maybe more immigration here, too? It is a staple of any trade deal now.

How’s the new world of Brexit Global Britain going, Leavers?

Don't worry about it folks , by the time the Express, Telegraph and Daily Mail have finished whatever change no matter how dire happens will inevitably be one of three things
  1. A Brexit Bonus
  2. The Fault of the EU
  3. The "Will of the people"
And after a brief by line any bad news will be
"Nothing to see here, move along."

I was only teasing, I agree that the lack of minority representation In such as the EU Commission and Parliament is very wrong. As far as the parliament is concerned though, minority candidates have to stand to be elected, so either they are not standing or selection discrimination in member nations is causing the problem.

Equally the Commission members are appointed by member nations, so in both cases it's not an EU problem but a member nation one.

Care to explain why "Brexit is likely to make it worse" is the case?
Are you making a point that this country is somehow more virtuous than other EU nations?
Because relatively we supply more ethnic minority MEPs. (the link explains it OG) And yes, although things are far from perfect racially in UK we are much more integrated than EU parliament. I said months ago and suggest it from personal experience. If you think UK is racist you had better stay here. Only place my race(actually skin colour) has been an issue is France.

Yes, I know from when I lived in France just how bad the racism can be there, especially for anyone black. My uncle used to supply basic food items from his delicatessan to some black households, but did it after dark out of fear that his white customers would see and stop their custom. I knew this because I did some of those delivery runs with him, using his unmarked Peugeot 403.

I agree re your last point. The link suggests same. But it becomes an EU problem when vast swathes of population appear or are under represented. The EU could easily impose quotas in a similar way to voting powers amongst members. How can EU possibly argue, suggest or think black people are represented at Parliament with only 3 (soon 2) Black folk in Parliament. I, d suggest EU lags behind all other western Democracies with regard to ethnic minority representation.
And yes if those groups were interested perhaps they would facilitate representation but for whatever reason they are simply not represented. End result it simply is not a democracy no matter who is to blame.
