As the cliche states: The last honest person to enter Westminster was Guy Fawkes.

When a rebuke is not enough:

Johnson was rebuked for failing to seek official guidance before resuming his Telegraph column following his resignation as foreign secretary.

The advisory committee on business appointments, which vets appointments by ex-ministers and senior officials, said it was “unacceptable” that he signed a contract with the newspaper before contacting them. It also complained that he did not observe the three-month waiting period, which is normal before former ministers take up outside jobs.

If it was unacceptable, just what are they going to do about it? There have to be sanctions that are strong and severe enough to stop anyone even considering acting in that way. 'Tis a pity the tower of London is no longer available to house miscreants in suitably unpleasant conditions.

make him their next leader because he shows strength?
just joking.
Ignore him. He gets plenty of publicity already by being provocative.
What he wrote in his column is gratuitously offensive but it's the newspaper that printed his word, thus should really be dealt with by the press complaints commission.

??? The quote was about his thumbing his nose at the advisory committee not his gratuitously offensive article.

ignore him. His troubles are more from what he writes than his taking a job at the DT.
the committee has clearly no teeth to speak of and it's only advisory.

Shades of.
"Pirate's Code?
it's More of a Guideline really.
We're Pirates aren't we?":D
There are so many ways in which we rely on procedures that have not been laid down in law - but in precedent.

How number 10 interacts with HMQE?
How POTUS divests of interest in their business when inaugurated?

Some are adhered to, others are broken with impunity. The fact of ignoring the expected, and intended, effects of these procedures can be profound. Do not be surprised to see the advisory committee starting to get some teeth - depending on who is in government.

The Tory "May faction" are obviously annoyed at Boris showing he is jealous of the image they have created for Corbyn at a cost of £1 Million, and reckons if that has made Corbyn more popular than ever, he wants some of that.

What May and co dislike is having the spotlight turned in their direction, just when the latest Brexit smokescreen looked so promising.
Naughty Boris!

They need a new smokescreen that Boris can't muscle in on.

I'd say this gentleman makes a fair point in regard to the muslim dress issue which the tory thicko, Johnson, made fun of in an attempt to garner more support from the racist element pursuing a hard 'Brexit':

When I retired i gave up wearing suits with some relief, but I am prepared to make the supreme sacrifice in support of this noble cause, following on the old Churchilian call. "When you have to go take one of them with you!

Therefore my will shall have a clause
A condition of my will is that I shall be cremated in a suit..

What more can i say. and no Zlatan , the cremation will be after not before I die
ps: they can put a conservative party tie on me too
Better one of theirs does up in smoke

Now be fair oldtom, the man is true to his convictions
He's Brexiting!

Verhofstadt in the European Parliament in July 2016 (= two years ago): "The Brexiteers have no clue what needs to be done. They are rats fleeing a sinking ship. Cameron, resigned, Johnson abandoned and Farage wants more time to himself and his family to spend his European salary no doubt."

When a billionaire lobbies to alter the UK tax regime so he can keep a far greater chunk of his enormous income rather than pay a little extra that might help the poor, sick and needy of this country, why should I be fair to him?

Because he is not prepared to do his bit for the less fortunate in the UK, he and two of his fellow directors are off to Monaco where no tax is payable, regardless of the enormity of income. RATcliffe even moved his company HQ to Switzerland for 4 years, apparently, to reduce his corporation tax bill.

Unlike captains of sinking ships who traditionally stay on board - at risk of going down with the ship - till everyone else is rescued or safely ensconced in life-rafts, captains of industry desert their crew, passengers and cargo, leaving them to fend for themselves with little prospect of rescue.

Here is what frightened him
I have absolutely no doubt that you are correct in your assertion. He and the others of his ilk with fortunes so vast that they can do whatever they like without any danger of ever becoming poor in their lifetime, are simply not prepared to show any humanity or benevolence towards those less fortunate.

If only the 'Brexidiots' could waken up to the fact that the people who have led this anti-EU movement are all part of that same group (the British establishment) and not one of them gives a tinker's cuss for the common people.

I am saying that they don't count in the brexit debate, except those who put millions into it, they are the ones that seek to influence and legitimate targets.

And not a first offence too. When he returned to politics previously he was required by the propective constituency party to give a solemn guarantee that he would not also work in the newspaper industry.

He took the seat and shortly after breached the promise by returning to writing for the newspaper. He is, as I've often posted, utterly despicable.
