But that's with a very complicated setup of some 120 individual trade agreements which took seven years to create, and it's still not complete. Also they have no access to services, and that would really hurt us.
.
Forgive me asking this, but how can over a hundred separate trade agreements amount to membership of the single market, when that only requires one to be a member of the EU?

it's going to be a buffet 'eat as much cake as you like and you can have a doggy bag too'.
Guy Verhofstadt and apparently one of our own civil servants reckon that the 'association membership' is so vague that you won't need separate FTAs.

that's true. If we are associate member in the SM, we would get a seat.
We'd get a seat all right
In the words of the old song
All together now

"Oh Dear what can the matter Be?
The UK have locked themselves in the Lavatory.
They've been there from Monday to Saturday
(And we all prefer to pretend they're not there!)

Chorus of choce here.....:p

When the Americans miserably failed to design a water recycling plant for the ISS, they had to ask the Russians, who'd built the main module, to provide an enlarged version of the one they used in their Mir space station.

They should have asked Thames Water, they'd been doing it for a century and we still haven't died.

In fact it will be so vague that we will just carry on as members and pretend to have left...
Just like the story of the invisible man..the EU must be heartily fed up of Brexit and all who sail in it.

Are you sure? I find this reality a bit unlikely, I mean surely the real world isn't run as badly as this one.
But I take your point, if Thames water haven't killed London off Putin must be trying Brexit (cheaper than ICBMS) and less untidy too.
I haven't forgotten going into a London Pub some years ago during one of our rare heatwaves and seeing a notice of apology over the bar

This is temporary due to the current water shortage.":)

Quite sure. The Americans took two years over their water recycling plant, costing $400 million. On completion it was too large for the allocated space in the main module and took hours to recycle a single litre, far too slow. The Russians completed to job in 6 months and it's worked fine ever since in the ISS.

That was probably around 1990 to 1994, hosepipe bans and no car washing every summer then. It's far from just the Thames to blame when this happens, much of our water comes from deep wells surrounding the capital. All my water comes from the Addington Deep Well at the northern foot of the North Downs for example.

Allegedly "accidentally" left on a train!
Obviously the Daily Mirror have reached the stage where you may as well play if for laughs
Here are all the details from the government Brexit plans that were left on a train
Fleet Street Fox uncovers a handful of emails, the world's worst flowchart and a very surprising exit strategy

From the Independent
"
Brexit - live updates: Tories turn on 'insolent' Rees-Mogg after Brexiteer threatens open revolt against May"

And Boris made the most absurd statement he has ever come out with yet
Honestly he actually said this!

"Whatever your position, I hope we can all agree that Jacob Rees Mogg is a principled and dedicated MP who wants the best for our country."

That has to be the most hysterically funny thing Boris has said yet, though Vladimir Putin would probably agree with him, as would the muppet in charge of the USA

One of the reader comments posed a reasonable question
"
BushTelegraph 2 hours ago
What were his local party thinking about when they adopted him as their candidate? Even by Tory standards of self-interest before all else, JRM comes top of the list - just above BoJo.

I can answer that one quite easily
They couldn't get Lord Charles

what realistic choice is there but a defensive strategy?
none. there are winners and losers. Presumably, if we end up on WTO, the winners are importers like British Sugars and the losers are exporters like Nissan and Airbus.
The banks don't care that much, they'll figure out how to make money from any chaos.

Barclays employ 130,000 people.
Moving 50 people is not a big event for them.
The fifty to Frankfurt are possibly somewhat more significant jobs than many of the other 48,650. And on top of 150 to 200 already going to Dublin. And that is just one bank - many others are also moving jobs, acquiring premises. I believe that there is going to be an important net loss of jobs even if leaving were cancelled tomorrow.

Previously, the bank, which employs 48,700 people in the UK, said it would be expanding its operations in Dublin by 150-200 jobs, making Ireland its base for continuing to trade within the EU.

Great fun in the Daily Mail
"
Trump threatens WTO, saying the U.S. will respond if it isn't 'treating us 'properly' – after White House aides who drafted trade bill fail to realize they called it the FART Act
  • President Trump said the World Trade Organization has been treating the U.S. 'very badly for many, many years'
  • He said the U.S. is not 'planning anything now'
  • The United States Fair and Reciprocal Tariff Act would let the nation disregard tariff limits
What a great idea! pass a law that ignores and cancels anything any other country has agreed with you!

FART indeed.

In the independent.

Well I never! the Tory cuts have done some good after all!

US pushes Britain to spend more on military or warns France will be 'partner of choice'
The US defence secretary said Washington is concerned the UK’s power and influence is ‘at risk of erosion’"

Great news! no more wars on the USA's behalf!

Good riddance

checkmate this weekend against the hard brexiters?

TM's third strategy is to participate in the SM for goods and not services, like Switzerland really.
If this strategy is adopted, there won't be celebration for the importers who bankrolled the brexit campaign.
